I saw Michael perform live for the very first time. It was my first road trip to CT. We saw him at Woolsey Hall, at Yale University performing with Orchestra New England. He came down the center aisle singing When A Man Loves A Woman. We had balcony seats and we could look over the balcony to see him enter the venue!!! Wow. That was the beginning of an amazing 16 year journey!!!

MB asked me how long it's been last month, he was curious I guess!!LOL

I am curious, when did you guys see MB perform live for the first time?

Thanks for letting me share.

Robin :)

I first Michaels voice way, way back in 1988, but didnt get to actually see him live until 1994 at Wembley Arena where my seats were about 3/4's of the way back in the arena and Michaels was a dot on the stage.

At one point he dissappeared off stage and there was a commotion in the doorway near to my seat and I just knew he was going to come out in a minute!!

As he he walked past me, I screamed my head off and he turned to look at me and smiled. He sang 'Georgia' and the nwent back to the stage.

Michael tried out a short burst of classical on us to see how we responded. Judging my the ruptuous applause, we all loved it.

When the concert ended, I cried all the way home and for days afterwards.

The crying bit has become a sort of a tradition now!! Ha Ha!!!

I'ved been a big fan since 1988 as well. Finally saw his face in 1989 when he sang How Am I Supposed To Live Without you with Kenny G on the awards show....was really bitten then. My first time live was 1991 here in Richmond, VA and I went with my husband who said "The guy is really good but you can go with the girls from now on!!!" The women were screaming and hollering and he had never been to a show like that and decided it wasn't for him!!!LOL So for the next 20 years that's what I've been doing. He did go with me in 2001 for our anniversary...so he is due again in 2011!!

Gail
AWWWW Gail thanks for sharing your story. I love it with the hubby!!LOL My husband went on our anniversary to York Fair too one year. but overall he lets me go with the girls too!! .I love hearing all these great stories.

Thanks for sharing!!!!!!

Same here, Gail....1988. We had bought our kids CD players for Christmas, so I bought MB's CD so that I could try them out before I wrapped them. I think it was 1989 when I saw him on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Then 1991 I found out that a couple of girls I worked with were also fans, so we decided to see him in concert....my first MB concert.....the rest 'is history'! LOL

Anna
That's funny about your husband! Gail! After 21 years, my husband still goes with me most of the time!! He really used to love the ball games we would go to, and your probably love the golf, but haven't had the chance yet. He does enjoy the show, he just laughs as I will usually end up at he stage, but he refuses to go that far!! LOL

Been a fan of Michael since late 80's but didn't go to my first concert until 26th October 2008 at RAH. I got tickets as a 40th birthday present from my brother and daughter. I was so excited and cried when I saw Michael for the first time on stage, I was on a high for months afterwards, totally hooked on seeing him in concert.
Love Deb xx
Thanks for sharing Deb. MB is sure worth any wait I know that..Everyone has such neat stories of their beginnings as fans and first experiences seeing him perform live for the first times!!!

Hi Gloria, I was at that show October 4 2003. On October 3, he was at Foxwoods and it was his daughter Taryns birthday and he mentioned it, before he sang If I could. I remember it as if it were yesterday Loved how Michael reacted to the audience that night. Thanks for sharing! Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
Hi Robin, thank you so much for starting this thread! I’ve been a fan of Michael’s since I fell in love with WIBOMFA but the first tape my husband bought me was TLT, so I did like you and bought all the other CD’s I could find. I couldn’t go to the concert here in Montreal in ’91 because I’d just had a miscarriage and couldn’t in ’93 either because my husband couldn’t get tickets, even if Michael came on my birthday… He came back only for promotion in ’95 and again couldn’t go because I was at home with a newborn so believe me, on July 28 ’98, the concert was a must! Lol I was about in the 9th row, having bought tix through Amex but not in the fan club yet. The concert was very special and when Michael sang “Pourquoi me réveiller”, it was so perfect, I sang and cried at the same time… Michael took 10 years, 8 months and 6 days to come back but certainly made it worth the wait, when he did last year! Incidentally, thanks for wishing us Canadians more concerts on the previous forum! From your keyboard to the promoter’s ears! :D Take care and thanks again. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
Hey Sylvie, Thanks for your reply. It's great to hear all the stories everyone is posting. Wow that was along wait between concerts. I do sincerely hope you guys get more shows up that way in the future and you don't have as long a dry spell again!!!!

Robin

Hi Sylvie!

It's great to see you posting here!

Take care my friend,
Anna
Thanks Anna, I haven't figured it all out yet but I'm loving it! Big hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
