I'm sure I should have put this over in with the Charity News, but I thought maybe it would be more visible here?

I'm a huge Amazon shopper and use the Amazon Smile. But I just realized that the Michael Bolton Charities participates in the program. I never thought to look until now. I guess I assumed it was organizations like Red Cross  which I had as my charity.

The bad news is that we are all done our Christmas shopping. But the good news is that we have the year ahead of us. It's only .5% of your purchase, but if everyone can participate, I would imagine it could be something substantial in the long run.

Thanks a lot for the tip Sally, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie Qc Canada :D

I never heard of it and I'm on Amazon all the time.. I just signed up for the MBC to get the 5%. Thanks Sally!

Robin in MD :)

I used to get notices, but I wasn't sure what it was.mi signed up, but thought it was agency's like Red Cross. I just happened to look yesterday, not expecting MBC but changed it right away. I might have got notices because a friend of mine uses it. I'll have to go back and see if they have an invite page.

Thank you Sally.

Great buyer on Amazon, I followed your instructions and happy to help MBCharities .

Big hugs from France ;)

Your welcome!

Hi Sally and thanks a million for heads up !!! :)   I went in and registered for MBC BUT what I got up was a little message which quickly flashed back off of screen but I did see where it said they would reach out to Michael Bolton Charities to see if they were ready to accept donations so maybe MBC are not linked up with this yet and that is why we haven't heard anything.  Also when I went in to start having a look to shop I was taken to the American site so will have to do some checking if this applies to UK site because please remember to always be ready to add your postage from the States.....don't want to be a misery guts but not much use paying x amount of $ for postage when you may get postage free in your own country just to donate 0.5% of sale to MBC for you might as well work out what the % would be off of your goods and send the money direct to them yourself if goods cheaper outside the States.

Thanks again Sally for posting about this and I will certainly get it out on my FB page for anything and anyway can make money for MBC has to be good ....thanks !!! :)

Just to say I have checked further and have sent an e-mail to the UK Amazon site asking about Amazon.smile and if it only relates to USA as when I log into UK site my registration with MBC disappears.

Have received an e-mail back from Amazon and here is copy of relevant part:

"Thank you for contacting us, from your communication received, I understand that you are registered with a noble cause with our partner site Amazon.com and you would like to know whether the purchases made on Amazon.co.uk also qualifies for same.

In this situation, I'll be more than happy to assist you.

Further to your email, I would like to confirm that the charity program to which you are enrolled is currently not qualified for purchases made on Amazon.co.uk and I apologies for that.

Further, I will happily pass your message on to the appropriate department who will be glad to review your suggestion. Customer feedback such as yours helps us to continue improving the selection and service we provide."

Please check if outside the USA that your Amazon site qualifies and be careful when ordering that you are not within the USA site and therefore, have huge postage costs added to your purchase.....please be careful !!!

Can I be pedantic and say Robin MD that it is not 5% to MBC but 0.5% of purchase cost....huge difference !!!

Thank you Sylvia for the information. Indeed on the site Amazon.FR is also disappearing Amazon Smile.

Have a good Sunday :).

Hi Sylvia, that's a good thing to know, thanks for the heads up. I know nothing, but it would make sense to me that Amazon would want to benefit charities  in their respective country, though it would be great if we could choose our own. Again, thanks for the heads up, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie Qc Canada :D

If anyone wants to purchase with Amazon to benefit MBC, be sure you log in through Amazon.Smile, the MBC should be at the top of the page and the product descriptions will tell you if it's Smile eligible. I don't know about Europe, but thank you Sylvia for checking.

Gail did check with MBC and they were checking it out. They were glad the word is getting out about Michaels charity and think the rewards can add up. Maybe they can work on getting it authorized for other countries?

But again, anyone making a purchase, just make sure your signed into the Smile page.

What we appear to have here are specific pages to go into relating to about two or three different charities but not ones where you can nominate a charity and not one page that you can go into, you need to register with each one separately but still a darn good idea because the charities they are representing are good and obviously far better any charity getting a little bit of benefit from your purchase through Amazon than none at all so thanks again Sally for heads up and bringing it to my attention....thanks !!! :)   When I did get reply back from Amazon they gave you a section to add in feed back as to how you thought they could improve things so I asked them to consider putting MBC on their list of charities that can be donated to from the UK.....if you don't try and if you don't ask you never get, so I'll keep trying !!!!  LOL

Thanks again Sally !!! :)
