For those of you in the know, after a 4 year absence from the limelight he has returned.

For those of you not, Darren Hayes is the former lead singer of Savage Garden.

His new single was released to iTunes last Friday (June 24th) and the video released immediately to his YouTube channel;

The new single is called "Talk Talk Talk", and the b-side is a fantastic cover of Madonna's "Angel". Darren's 4th solo album is entitled, "Secret Codes and Battleships" and that is released in October to coincide with a 4-date tour of the UK.

Darren wrote the single with Peter Falk, who has also written with Lady Gaga, after they got together to write songs for Leona Lewis at the request of Syco Music.

Darren is a friend of mine and, not that I need to say this, he is incredibly talented. His vocal ability is phenomenal, along with his songwriting skills.

Please go to his youtube page to listen to both the single and the b-side, or to iTunes to download it if you love it like I do! The single will be officially released in the UK in the coming weeks.

Hi Michael,my sister will be very happy to hear that, she's a big fan of Darren's. I don't know who wrote it, but he did a very nice duet with Olivia Newton-John a few years back called "You're lifting me up", if I'm not mistaken. Well anyway, I did enjoy both songs. Thanks for sharing Michael, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Hi Sylvie,

It was originally written and sung by Darren on his own, it's called "Lift Me Up". Then, ONJ wanted to do a duet with him on her album, so he obliged!

Hi Michael, hmm, thanks for the info, I didn't know that. That's a sweet song, I'll look up his solo version. Give our best to Darren for the success of his next CD, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Thank you Michael. As you know, I am a huge fan of Darrens and have been following his career quite closely over the years.

I am delighted to hear this and cant wait for the new album release.

Are you coming to the UK fan reception? You could bring Darren with you? I would really love to meet him. And ofcourse I'd love to meet you too Michael.

I have a few of his albums- Spin, The tension and the spark and The delicate things weve made.  have to admit, Spin will always be my favourite though especially 'Strange relationship. Wow!! that one is mega in my oppinion. I will definately be adding the new one to my collection.

Please pass on my very best wishes to Darreen and tell him I hope he has a huge success with this latest album.

PS Sylvie, here is the song that Darren Hayes and Olivia Newton John sang. It has a video from a TV show called Eve and Chris playing in the background, but the song is beautiful.  it is indeed called Yyou lfe me up'.

Hi Jennifer,

I think it'd be a pretty difficult task to bring Darren to the fan reception. When is it?

Spin is the weakest of his 3 albums in my opinion. The Tension and The Spark, and This Delicate Thing We've Made are simply amazing.

Hope all is well with you!

Hey Jen, thanks a lot, I will watch the video but I do have the song on Olivia's "2" album. Olivia is my absolute favorite female singer and I've been following her longer than Michael. I even named one of my daughters after her... :D Thanks a lot for sharing sweetie, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

P.S.: she's also sung one of the most fabulous duets ever with Richard Marx called "Never far away" on the same album. If you can find it somewhere, listen: it's just gorgeous!

Oh thanks Sylvie, I will have a look to see if I can find it. I love Olivias voice. It has a very gentle 'rasp' to it that makes it sound very sexy, but in a calm and polite way. If that makes sense? Ha Ha!!!

I had no idea.  Darren's voice is incredible.  I definitely will have to go and check this out.

Hi Jennifer, well I’m glad to hear you enjoy Olivia’s voice! Interesting description but I guess that works… :D Good luck finding the song though. You know me, I would have given you the YouTube link if it was there, but strangely, there’s only a cover of it. It’s okay and it would give you an idea of how beautiful it is but I much prefer the original. I think Olivia can duet with anybody. She was with our Michael on “Love shouldn’t hurt” but they never actually sang together. On the “Kathy Lee & Hoda” show, my heart jumped when Kathy Lee said watching Delta was like ONJ all over again… :D Hey Jen, maybe you can catch up with the TV performances now that you have the CD! Sorry Michael for diverting from your original subject… Take care Jennifer. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
