Hurricane Sandy
I am starting this thread solely because a friend of mine on FB sent me a message after having seen a post I have put out on my "Michael Bolton Around The World" page and said they had noted there was nothing in the website in particular referring to hurricane Sandy and they suggested that as this is MB's official website and my message was to him, his band, crew and staff why didn't I place it on here for those not on FB to see apart from possibly giving people the opportunity to express their own messages of support and care, in their own way, and so below is the exact message I posted on my page along with photo I also attached to it.
"A message to Michael, his band members, his crew and staff who, as the Asian Tour draws to a close, will be heading back home to the States and this goes especially to those whose families and friends have been affected by the devastation caused by hurricane Sandy: below is a picture of part of the Great Wall of China, taken in Beijing, where you have just left, and as that Great Wall has stood and will stand the test of time, so will human resolve, courage and hope to overcome all the horrors that Sandy has wrecked on the East Coast of America and I wish you, as I am sure all the readers of this page do, the strength and belief in that resolve, courage and hope to see you through whatever lies before you as you arrive back home. Take care and whatever God you hold dear in your heart may He be with you at this sad time, as are, our thoughts and prayers."

Below is a message placed on a comment in this thread and one that carries the message of partly what this thread is all about, which is my reason for bringing here to the description, and the words are from Joy and I ask anyone who wants to come in and share to please, please do so !!

Joy I'm so sorry for all that you have been thru.. Are you getting help from FEMA/Red Cross etc?? We see on the news down here how slow the efforts have been and after over a week I don't see how they can be ignoring so many areas that need assistance. Our Gov't is failing in some ways in this and it's not right...This country of ours should be making this situation a primary issue to help all of the folks affected. Yet those official are on TV patting themselves on the back.. Makes me angry.. I'm glad you still have your home and are doing ok..
Amie I am glad you are doing ok too..Yes you do appreciate the basic things in life once something like that happens..We lost power 8 days after a hurricane 9 years ago and we also and no water, lost all the food and such too..Had a horse to care for then and got water from a nearby spring in jugs for him and to flush etc...We had no phones either but the cell at the time...Very scary..that was with the house in tact and in Sept..not winter temperatures..I understand somewhat how you all must feel and have been praying for all of you.
I hope the Fed Agencies and all finally get on the ball and take care of all the people that need warmth, shelter, food and assistance.

Red Cross = wonderful, always great people in any kind of disaster.
FEMA = totally stinks, always has, but definitely gotten far worse.
Don't rely on govt. Neighbors helping neighbors is the kindest, most effective way to make it through whatever. I'd rather donate to Red Cross than give a penny of my tax dollars to FEMA, homeland insecurity, etc.

I understand that Amie!!! I'm glad to hear Red Cross has been great to you all.. Yes neighbors doing for one another seems to be the best assistance. Yet those others go on TV and act like they are doing a great job--no they are not..I'm annoyed with that part of this mess..they are not..
Well, too many people rely on Gov.t too much these days in general... I agree with you totally..They cannot do this evidently any better than anything else....
I'm glad to hear you are getting wonderful help from the Red Cross..that makes me feel good for you guys.

Hi Joy, thank you for coming in and posting about your daily reality. As Sylvia said, how can we find words to try and comfort the enormity of that devastation... I think the only thing to do is to count your blessings and take it one day at a time. This reminds meof something I posted on the “I thought we could share...” thread.

I’m sorry to sound like a pink cheerleader, but I think “The daffodil principle” is a great example of achieving something really wonderful by doing things one step at a time.
