Hi Gang,

I got an e-mail from a friend the other day, who asked me "Hey Helena, did you make any New Years Resolutions"?  So I thought, oh boy...here we go again!  LOL!   You all know that this past year, (and years in general) have brought both good and bad times for most of us.  So we usually start any New Year, hoping for better things or to make improvements in our lives.  Some of you (like me), are hoping to lose weight, find a new job and maybe find someone special to have a future with.  Others may want to stop smoking, go back to school, or go out on a date with Michael.  Gee, how many of us want that...LOL!!!

So I thought it would be nice to start a thread to help motivate us.  God knows there are times when I need a "pick me up" and I need something or someone to say "Hey Helena, get moving" or "Don't worry Helena, things will get better soon".  Many times I turn to music to get myself moving or to try to cheer myself up during difficult times.  So since many of you love to share your favorite songs and video's to the rest of us, I thought.... let's show each other some of the songs that bring us hope....that put smiles on our faces....that say to us "Tomorrow is another Day".  Please choose any song and artist you like (and of course Michael songs too!), and if you want to explain why you pick that song or songs....feel free to mention it.  I like to think of this as a "Friendship" thread... since we are all here as Bolton fans, but also as friends.  And who better to motivate us, then our friends.....  Now this is the time when my nutty friends (and you know who you are) should be saying to themselves awwww....  LOL!!!

Well this is not really a motivation song, but I want to dedicate this song to all of you anyway...."That's what friends are for".  I have the 45 record of this song.....of course, since Sir Elton is on it!

This is a song Boy George wrote over a year ago called "Yes we Can".  A song that really makes me feel good and gives me hope.  This is the original version, there are a few dance club versions and they are all great!

Last but not least, my favorite Barry Manilow song "Daybreak".  I love this song so much...if this song does not put a smile on your face, nothing will.....LOL!!  :)

Hey Helena, what a great idea! Well, I don't have anything for you right now, off the top of my head, but I'll put on my thinking cap under my nightcap and see what hatches tomorrow! :D Nighty-night and thanks for sharing! Take care sweetie. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Oh Sylvie....I'm expecting some good choices from you!

I like your idea Juliet...having fun!  Would like to do more of that myself.... :)

Helena..xx...

Hi Helena, I’ve quite enjoyed re-reading your message... The song “Yes we can” is really cool, thanks for sharing it! The Barry Manilow song reminds me  for some reason of the old Sesame Street song “Sing a song”! lol I think the motivation is in the mind of the beholder: wow, that should be on a T-shirt! :D Pardon the outburst of philosophy there… There are fantastic life motivating songs like “Papa can you hear me”:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GL6860py0Z8

It can also be a song that’ll motivate you to move like, “La copa de la vida”:

orOutkast’s Hey ya”:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fi8rsCncwF8

Helena, I’ll tell ya, if I’m ever in the coma and the doctors don’t have any MB songs handy, “La copa de la vida” should snap me right out of it! Lol You know, I just love the energy of that song, but listening to the words, it is an inspirational song… But going back to the subject, sometimes just cute songs that’ll put a smile on your face will start the day right, like for instance Jason Mraz’s “I’m yours”:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMTO_j7ennw

(man I love his backup guy… Remember I told you he reminded me of Orrin?)

or Ben Lee’s “Catch my disease”:

But aside from  the obvious motivational “Go the distance”, to fit with your  “the sun will come out tomorrow” theme, I’d say one of my very favorites is “Don’t stop believin’” from Olivia Newton-John:

Oops, forgot one more, I love this song! It’s called “Bring on the rain” by Jo Dee Messina, listen to the lyrics of this song:

So how’s that for a response Helena? :D It took me all day because Youtube was acting up but there you go. Thanks for starting this thread sweetie, take care. Big hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

P.S.: Break a leg Juliet!

Sorry Juliet! I thought about it after I posted it... Okay, so how about  "merde"? lol Sorry, that's French for I'm sure you know what... It's the French equivalent of "break a leg" though, I promise! Take care sweetheart and I really do wish you the best! Big hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Hey Sylvie,  Thanks for the songs...but the first three I was unable to click on and see the video's!  Yes, I remember the Orrin sound a like...I like the beat of Ben Lee's song.  The Jo Dee Messina song is also good....funny i have a friend with the same last name and she is not related to Jo Dee.  Messina is a popluar Italian name and the name of the city in Sicily.  Remember Loggins and Messina...not related to him either...LOL!

LOL Sylvie...Merde is also a dirty word in Italian!

So where is the Wee one?  I thought she would add somthing to this thread?  And Jennifer?  I guess she is still under the weather...I know she would add something here, especially a few of Michael's songs.  Well hope some of the others will join us.....

Helena..xx...

Hi again,

Sylvie, I went on you tube and listened to La Copa De la vida.....oh that Ricky Martin can indeed wake the dead...LOL!!  Also love his other hits Livin la vida Loca and She Bangs.  Great singer!!

On the subject of Latin music that makes us shake our groove thing.....here is the Italian duo Los Locos singing their version of the Macarena.  Now I want to see everyone get out of their chairs and dance the Macarena with me.  Do you think that Michael know's how to dance this?  If not, tell him to come to Brooklyn and I'll show him how to...LOL!!!    Ok now....ready....set....Go!

Now after you cool down, here is another hit from them called Ai Ai Ai.  This was the theme song from the Italian TV show "Un medico nella Famiglia", which means a doctor in the family.  It was a comedy show...  enjoy muchachos!  :)

Oh God I've got to join this - but, first of, excuse me but "how the hell" - the sigh in that song alone gets me going - did the word "MERDE" remind, somebody, that they hadn't heard from me - do you not think I can speak French or Italian - and, hey, Sylvie, you haven't contributed very much to the discussion !!!!!!!!!!  LOL.  Bye the way, too, where is KATHY - come in girl - must have been at another party and she is floating somewhere again - just thinking Juliet - Kathy's Bob could give you a fireman's lift !!!!!!!!!!!!  WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Signing (or, singing) off for just now - but, I will be back - PROMISE !!!!

Sylvia.   Your wee Scottish FRIEND.

Well glad you made it my girl!!  Shall see you later....

Helena..xx..

Well Juliet, put on those nice fancy boots and shake those hips!  I'll join you when I get home tonight...right now I'm having lunch and I don't think my co-workers want to see me dance..LOL!

Helena..xx...

Hi Helena, glad you enjoyed the songs you were able to hear. I don’t know if I’ve pressed a wrong button again, but Youtube seems to be temperamental since a couple of days.  However, if that happens again, you can copy the link in another window and they do work, I’ve tried to make sure. Okay then, take 2:

“Papa can you hear me”

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YrFKbOlSlk

“Hey Ya”

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fi8rsCncwF8

la copa de la vida

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3wOII0llsDI

And here’s another motivational one I thought of,”before the parade passes by”:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shfv4PJRkLg

I hope this makes up for my slacking off Sylvia! :D Take care girls and seriously listen to the lyrics of these songs… Well, all except for “Hey ya”! lol The beat is motivating though… Big hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

P.S.: Oh I remember the macarena Helena but it's a little slow for me... :D

Will see the video's tonight Sylvie...thanks!  Macarena slow....oh, you must be one of those girls that do that Dirty Dancing and really get down!!  LOL!

Hugs back,

Helena
