Hi Markham, you have an interesting choice of movies that make you cry... I think it’s been too long since I’ve seen “Uncle Buck and as far as I know, “Trains, planes and automobiles” is a comedy. I’ve also checked out “Marley and me” on Wikipedia, so I have a feeling you’re a softie... :D For my part, I cry at the drop of a hat, but I’ve noticed many of the tear-jerkers in my own collection have to do with  someone dying: “The bucket list”, “La bamba”, “Les miserables”, « The notebook », « The outsiders”, “P.S. I love you” and  “What dreams may come”. Some others are just corny-sweet like “51st dates” which made  me appreciate Adam Sandler, everyone’s favorite “E. T. the extra-terrestrial” and the original “Ice castles”. I love “It’s a wonderful life” too and it’s not Christmas without it, but my favorite slobber fest and favorite love story film will probably always be ”Somewhere in time” with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour. Nothing wrong with a good cry once in a while, but I totally get why you wouldn’t want to see “Marley and me” again. It would probably make my own husband cry... XD Thanks for starting this thread Markham. BTW, there’s a similar thread on here about our favorite movies:

Enjoy! Take care Markham and thanks again. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie Qc Canada :D

Sylvie, ahh the notebook made me cry as well,,.... You remembered Ice Castles i have that on dvd about the ice skater who had an accident and lost her vision... classic late seventies film... yes have cried at that..... ET (still puts a lump in my throat)... Why I cry at Uncle Buck and Planes, Trains and Automobiles because of the sentiment of the story and because the late john hughes in all his films there has always been an happy ending. take care of yourself. Markkham... ps will check outthe thread!!

I forgot one.... On Golden Pond Starring Henry Fonda and Jane Fonda!!!

Sylvie...  check it out... absolute brilliant and a weepy... and I will not watch Marley and Me ever... but this film is really something special..

Hey Markham, you’re a bit of a cinephile, aren’t you? I have “Ice castles” on DVD too! I didn’t care for the remake though. Cool you enjoy good old John Hughes films too. I’ll have to dig up “Uncle Buck” and check if my library has TPA. I do love “On golden pond”, and if you want suggestions, you should see “Finding Neverland” with Johnny Depp and  “I am” Sam” with Sean Penn. I’m sorry Markham, your link seems to be a picture because my screen-reader program reads it as such. I’m a blind cinephile... :D I still refer to “seeing” movies and technically, I have seen some decades ago, but now I listen. It’s probably one of the reasons why I loved “Ice castles”. :D Don’t worry about it though, tell me what movie you’re suggesting. Anyway, I’ll read you on the other thread, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie Qc Canada :D

Hi sylvie.... I don't watch remakes of any films... I like the originals... I do like comedies.. there are two actors, that I do miss John Candy and Robin Williams (I don't thing either of them has done a bad film) (well... Robin williams in toys... I couldnt get into) but The fisher King, Patch Adams, Mrs Doubtfire, and angriest man in brooklyn... wow. I have seen Finding Neverland and I am Sam,  very good films. although Sean Penn as a director.... You Yourself probably have heard of the film called "Into The Wild" based on the true story of Chris mccandless.. thats a sad story anyway.

Hi again Markham, oh I love John Candy: he had the sweetest, most infectious laugh in the world. :D Love Robin Williams too: loved him in “Mork & Mindy” and all movies you’ve mentioned except “Angriest man in Brooklyn”, which I’ll have to check out. I didn’t know about “Into the wild”,checked it out on Wiki, but not quite my cup of tea, sorry. Thanks for your suggestions though: my list is getting longer! lol Take care Markham and thanks again for sharing. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie Qc Canada :D
