The First Annual Michael Bolton and Dave Mason
Benefit Concert & Celebrity Golf Classic
Sunday, September 26th, 2010
Ojai Valley Inn & Spa
Ojai, California
Event Information & Sponsorship Opportunities
The 1st Annual Michael Bolton and Dave Mason Benefit Concert and Celebrity Golf Classic will take place on Sunday, September 26th at the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa, an historic resort featuring luxury accommodations, a championship golf course and Spa Ojai.
We will tee off at 9:00 a.m. at the world-class Ojai Country Club, one of the first great golf courses in California. Later that evening Michael and Dave will perform with their great bands and surprise musical guests. The evening will include a cocktail/dinner reception, silent and live auctions.
Your support will make it possible for The Michael Bolton Charities, established in 1993 to assist children and women at risk, to continue our funding to numerous agencies.
A portion of the proceeds from our event will benefit two local organizations:
Yoga Blue, Inc., a non-profit organization established in 2009 in Ojai by Winifred Wilson, whose mission is dedicated to teaching yoga to people in recovery from substance abuse, other self-destructive behaviors and domestic violence.
The Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research Program at Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles. The hospital has been treating the most seriously ill and injured in Los Angeles for more than a century and is known throughout the United States and around the world for its leadership in pediatric and adolescent health.

Michael just tweeted this a few minutes ago about the golf event today.
Michael Bolton @mbsings 11m
Amazing day at the Montreux Country Club playing 18 rounds with my great friends & supporters of @MBCharities
Sylvie and Robin it's a photo of MB standing beside his golf cart full of golf bags with clubs in the back in the photo with his club up over his shoulder with a big smile on his face. Another player is behind him looking down at a golf ball. Looks like weather was sunny and clear. MB has on either a dark blue or black golf outfit and a blue golf glove.
Robin in MD :)
Thanks very much for the description Robin, I appreciate it. Take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie Qc Canada
Great bringing it over here Robin MD for it is a super photo and you know those wee golf buggies must have some suspension in them when you consider the weight of all the clubs and then two people as well because they are almost like uncovered wee Dinky cars..... that is what they always remind me of, or, at least, the smallest of smallest Mini Minors !!!! LOL.

Below is article which Francoise has found in connection with recent MBC Event and which she placed on the Miscellany thread.....I have just discovered her post and so sorry for being a bit late in bringing over to here but hope, better late than never fits and also too I have a link for photos that have been published taken at the event which I have put in a few places but again sorry folks, for forgot to put in here; Francoise did post a link to photos in the Miscellany thread but for me I cannot open it as it just keeps buffering but I presume they are the same set of photos I had found and if not possibly those that can get Francoise's link to work could bring her's over here. Here is article.....................
"Michael Bolton’s soaring, Grammy Award-winning voice could fill arenas and flow down the sides. But on Aug. 25, he’ll perform at what, in comparison, is almost a supper club gig as he takes the stage in front of fewer than 400 folks at the Eldorado Hotel Casino.
“It’s so immediate and intimate,” said Jackie Smaga, executive director of the Michael Bolton Charities, which is presenting the dinner-concert (and a golf classic the next day) as part of its annual fundraiser. “You can really see and hear Michael.”
For the second year in a row, the Bolton Charities, now in its 21st year, is holding the fundraiser in Reno. The charity disburses money nationally (nearly $6 million since 1993) to organizations that help at-risk women and children. In 2012, the event netted nearly $150,000, with more than $60,000 being divided between the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows and the Nevada Military Support Alliance, according to organizers.
This year, the Children’s Cabinet, which offers child and family support programs, is the local beneficiary of the fundraiser.
At the dinner-concert, Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto is being presented with the Bolton Charities Lifetime Achievement Award. The charity is working with the attorney general’s office to create a state Family Justice Center, a one-stop provider of services to victims of domestic violence and their families.“It is a great honor for me to receive the Michael Bolton Charities Lifetime Achievement Award,” Cortez Masto said. “I have dedicated much of my career to public service and to that end — improving the lives of women and children. I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with many phenomenal leaders in Nevada and around the world who helped me create and implement laws to better protect those at risk.”
Of the attorney general, Bolton said, “We share a commitment to continue to work in support of women and children at risk. With her support, we will accomplish our goal of building them a safer world — right here in Nevada.”
So, why Reno? For one, Bolton has several longtime friends in Northern Nevada, including philanthropist Jâlé Trepp, Nanci Glogauer of the Point Foundation and developer Chip Bowlby, co-chair of this year’s event and a member of the Bolton Charities board.
Two years ago, when the fundraiser was still being held in Ojai, Calif., “our friends convinced us to come to Reno,” Smaga said. “They offered up their services to help us organize and make a committee and make it happen. They said the benefit could have a meaningful impact on their community.”
That impact — donating locally a significant chunk of the money raised — was key, Trepp emphasized. “We said, ‘We can’t ask our friends and family and neighbors to buy tickets and tables and come out and then have the money go elsewhere. A lot of it has got to stay here.’ ”
As you might expect with someone who has been famous for 30 years, Bolton has a host of friends and acquaintances from the worlds of music, acting and sports, and many of them will be on hand next week.
At the dinner-concert, besides Bolton, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Dave Mason will perform, as will singer Richard Marx, who has sung or written a chart-topping song in four different decades. John O’Hurley, the silky baritoned actor who played J. Peterman on “Seinfeld,” is master of ceremonies. Comedian Bog Saget? He’s on board, and new stars Dan and Laura Dotson of “Storage Wars” are going to be auctioneers.
“They just started getting into charity auctions,” Smaga said. “They are really going to add a whole new level to the live auction.”
A lavishly appointed live auction — think fighter-jet rides, safaris on the veldt, historic curios — is a hallmark of the Bolton Charities annual fundraiser. This year, two items that seem likely to attract bidder attention are a cast-autographed pair of boots from the Tony Award-winning “Kinky Boots” (plus tickets, backstage passes, a Manhattan hotel suite and Tony rehearsal tickets for next year), as well as $10,000 worth of golf rounds at courses across the West.
On Aug. 26, as part of the annual benefit, the Bolton Charities is debuting a golf event at Montrêux Golf & Country Club.
“Historically, the Michael Bolton Charities fundraiser has had a golf event associated with it,” said Chip Bowlby, the event co-chair and Bolton Charities board member. “Last year’s event, the first in Reno, was in November, so we didn’t have golf. We are very happy that golf is returning this year. Michael is a big golfer, and so are a lot of his friends who are athletes or in the entertainment world.”
Folks can purchase tickets for golf playing spots, including spots or threesomes with a celebrity. Taken together, the golf, dinner and concert (plus after-party), Bowlby said, offer “a really great draw for our event. I think we’re doing very well for our second year in Reno.”"
Link into photos and for Robin CA and Sylvie they are showing many people who attended the event and there are only a couple of Michael or, at least, a couple he is in, for they are group photos where he is pictured with, such as, Richard Marx, Bob Saget and Pat Boone.....maybe some will appear from somewhere else, hopefully !!! :)

Thanks for bringing that informative article over here Sylvia, I did see Stu Walls come back to the hotel from the golf game. In addition to wearing his golf outfit he did have his camera with him so I am certain that he will post photos of the golf and the MBC event as well. Sometimes it takes him a little while to get his photos posted but they are well worth the wait :))))))))

Thought would kick off this post with pic of Michael holding that trophy from the Humana Challenge Competition this year because preparations for next year's golf events are getting underway and have to report that the CT Celebrity Golf Event is ON for 2014. It will be held in June, no definite date yet, at the Shorehaven Golf Club, Norwalk, Connecticut.

Thought I would bring over link to the MBC Charity site where I got information from and which gives a bit more detail than I have put in and hopefully this one will turn out to be one that fans can attend and hope plenty will be able to and will wait for more information next year.
