New Year Resolutions for 2014......with a completely NEW slant !!!

As Michael has supplied us with his Resolution for 2014 thought would get this thread underway and Michael's Resolution is..............

"My 2014 resolution is to spend more time in a state of gratitude for every moment I have and to especially show it for my family, friends & fans. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! LET'S MAKE IT GREAT!!"

........along with, I believe, a selfie which think has been taken whilst Michael has been out sightseeing in Galati, Romania.

.

Please feel free to pop in whenever you like to share with us your New Year Resolutions or, as Sylvie and I like to do, which is to set ourselves goals per month to try and achieve rather than the one for the whole year......a little bit of a variation on the theme and we have had fun doing it for over the past couple of years and hope 2014 proves to be as much fun and as they always say, the more the merrier, so please consider coming in and joining us.......everyone is more than welcome !!!! :)    BTW Sylvie and I also try to make it every Monday when we come in and compare notes but absolutely no restriction on when anyone prefers to come in....none whatsoever !!! :)

Believe the following, which Sylvie was sent, is more than appropriate to be placed on here and hope you all enjoy it !! :)

Hi Olga!  Yes today it is very cold and windy here in Virginia inthe USA.  The schools opened late so the kids didn't have to stand in the cold waiting for the buses in case they wouldn't start and they could get the schools warmed up good.  Now tomorrow here is suppose to be like 40 degrees so it is just this one day here....I'm staying in! ;)  Thanks for checking!  Up North it is even colder!!

Hi Gail !

Oh! -40 Degrees Celsius is very cold!

I live in Siberia, and even for us it is very cold.

Patience!

Hi Olga, yes it's been pretty cold up here in Canada. We're used to cold winters, but this winter has been something else! Last weekend was about -38 Celsius with wind chill, which, if I'm not mistaken is about -20 Farenheit. Yesterday, we had 1 day break from 3 weeks of freezing cold and temperatures were in the 30's Farenheit, (6 Celsius) with freezing rain, but we're back down to-17 Celsius, which is about 2 Farenheit. The snow stopped, but it's very windy and slippery, since the snow  melted a little and froze again. I'm glad I don't have to go out! Funny how the weather  announcers have been describing our cold weather as "Siberian". Thank you for asking Olga, nice to read you on here! :D Everyone take care and stay safe and warm. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie QC Canada :D

Hi my dear Sylvie!

Take care of yourself!

I hope frosts cease soon.

Hey Olga, don't worry sweetie, it's supposed to warm up and rain again on the weekend, so at least it should wash out the dirty snow from the streets and maybe even the cars a little. You take care Olga. Big hugs, sincerely, Sylvie QC Canada :D

Hi Olga!! Nice to see you post once again!! It was very COLD even here in California. We hit 29* at night and many of my plants froze :/ But our good weather always comes back and today it is 78* :)  Now that is too warm for January.....but I won't complain!! Stay warm Olga!!

Great to see everyone on here and hope you'll all stick around or at least pop in now and again to see what is going on !!! :)

Petra and Kellie I hope that you do achieve your resolutions and goals for 2014 and please keep on coming in and sharing how things are going, please !!! :)

Hi to you too Olga and good to read you on here and it sure is Siberian weather that has hit the States and Canada and hope you are like us and enjoying positively balmy weather....it is so balmy it is ridiculous for I have daffodils coming up in a pot, honeysuckle buds are leafing, clematis shoots are shooting, my snowdrops are getting ready to flower and St. John's Wort shrubs haven't lost all their leafs and one has a new flower emerging but of course along with it all we are suffering with exceptional rainfall and gales and our coast road only opened on Monday and for a while on Friday we were cut off both ways on coast road because of the sea lashing in.  I had to use coast road yesterday and knew I was going to see some damage for even on our prom again parts are all cordoned off where it has been ripped up but on the road I came across parts where railings mangled and one bit where they were mangled and nice big crack on road so at that part only one side open and then I came to another bit, half the road has gone and it is lying down on the shore; there is the exact replica of the shape of a half moon drawn on the road.  Think there is still the risk of more to come and of course down south with their water levels it is awful and too because they are so flat in comparison to us where generally when our rivers or streams burst their banks we have all the natural crags and crannies that the water can disappear into.   Have to wait and let Mother Nature take her course and hope she starts going the right way soon and the polar vortex and equatorial winds still going east instead of west hurry up and all change and whatever else is going on to give us this crazy weather gets back to normal, whatever that is, and gives us a respite !!! lol.

Everybody affected by the craziness stay safe !!! :)

Hi Sylvia, I think you nailed it right on the head by qualifying weather on the entire planet as "crazy" and it  covers everything. Remember you had the same thing last year with the warm weather? Only it was in March... We're expecting another drastic warm up for the weekend. I wish us all for weather normalcy soon. Take care Sylvia and ride the wave when the weather is good and no, I don't mean that litterally! lol Big hugs, sincerely, Sylvie QC Canada :D

Hope everyone doing okay into this third week in January already and all resolutions/goals are still to the fore and either being upheld or very nearly achieved.

Not too much happening with me although I am delighted I haven't put on anymore weight and now all rubbish out of house this week is a very definite cut down one.....intake of chocolate biscuits is getting halved and will see if that makes any difference by end of this week.  Also hope to get back to gym possibly this week and if not, definitely next.....another goal set for January.

As I have said hope everyone else doing okay !!! :)

Sylvia.  Your wee Scottish friend.

Hi Sylvia, I'm starting the year on a high note: keeping up with last year's good habits and inching along on cleaning the computer, 1 folder at a time. We're working on a room switch project  this week, so hope to get everything packed up and filed away before the next step. That's an achievable project for this week and I'll keep up with computer clean-up. I'm also using the advice I gave Kellie to keep my junk intake down: actually writing down/typing down food intake and exercize achievements and doing pretty good. Break a leg on getting to the gym Sylvia and keeping the sweets intake down. I once came across  a cookie jar shaped like a bullfrog that played Three Dog Nights's "Joy to the world":

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yf-d-Ka30EY

...and it started directly at the “Jeremiah was a bullfrog” part when you opened it: that’ll startle you into consciousness! Lol I always regretted not getting that cookie jar... :D Anyway, good luck to you and everyone with their resolutions/goals for this week or month! If anyone has tips on what helps them with their own achievements, please feel free to share: something is bound to help someone. Take care Sylvia. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie QC Canada :D

Oh....that dang gym thing....and don't eat sweets so much. Ugh.....I shall get back to my walking also. I really do miss it and of course need it to build up my stamina for putting away ALL these Christmas decorations! I must stay focused and get them all down before Bob moves out!!!! LOL  I guess that would just give me more room for Christmas stuff!!!! NOT. I should be done by February :)

Happy New Year Bolton Buddies!!! Sylvia what a tempting menu you have set before us for 2014!!! I see old friends like Olga have popped in...SUPER!! I will comment on everyone's post here but FIRST I have a question for you Sylvia. Did you say you have seat 7 front row at a Michael Bolton concert in Glasgow in Mid May ?????? I can't believe it....BUT....I HAVE seat 8 front row for a Michael Bolton concert in Glasgow in mid May!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What are the odds???????????? OOOOOOHHHHHHHH MMMMYYYYYYY I am so excited and I can't hide it!!!!!!!!!! Let me tell you how this came about.......

As most of you know my dear mom passed away February 3 2010...which is right around the corner....hence the perfect timing of my story. My maternal grandmother was born and raised in Aberdeen, Scotland. She left for Canada as a young woman and married a handsome Frenchman and my mom was born :) Upon my mom's passing I promised to return some of her ashes to all the places that determined her destiny. So far I have buried some at the gravesites of her parents and I have yet to visit Toronto, Canada...her birth city....and Scotland where her mom..my beloved grandmother grew up. My mom and grandmother were very close and my grandmother lived with us until she passed. I became very close to my grandmother :)) Sadly..my maternal grandfather died when my mom was only 10 :(  so I have no relationship to cherish with him. So my grandma was everything to me. Sooooooo I planted a seed in my lil' ol' head that it would be great fun and a nice complete trip to take my mom's ashes to Scotland and just "grab" a Michael Bolton concert...lol.... and of course check to see if Sylvia Doughty really exists and isn't just a robot of some sort with endless info!!!! LOL  Wishful thinking eh??? When I got a chance to chat with Michael I asked him IF he planned to perform in Scotland...inquiring minds wanted to know ;) Alas....MB said YES he was....maybe Edinburgh maybe Glasgow....he wasn't sure. Oh my....my wheels started spinning. I told Bob....hold on...time to renew our passports...we shall be going to bonny Scotland!!! He rolled his eyes....but he knew I DREAMT of going to Scotland to explore my grandmother's hometown :)  And now of course after my mom's passing the Scotland trip was a given. I just wanted to plan for the right time to get the biggest bang for my buck. Soooooo next I had to ask a huge favor of the Wee One and ask her to PLEASE buy me a front row seat to the Glasgow concert!! I told her ...only front row though...LOL I said I wasn't going to travel around the world for second row!!!! LOL We are terribly spoiled Bolton fans aren't we????? Sooooooo to add to Sylvia's excitement of her VERY FIRST series of concerts.....I quietly ask her if she could possibly manage to buy me a tix. Bless her....she had her itinerary all set up for buying all her tix and having all her hotels in order and THEN I add to her crazy buying MB tix frenzy!!! What are friends for??? LOL I OWE you big time Sylvia and YES....WE ARE GOING TOGETHER TO THE GLASGOW CONCERT!!! Bob and Ryan are passing...I wonder why????? Dear Michael....are you ready??? Thankfully Sylvia you will have ALREADY seen Michael at a few concerts. You will have survived...not sure about Michael...LOL..and I am sure I can bail you out of jail....if need be...and you will still make it to the Glasgow concert!!!!! ROFL!!! This will be a trip of a lifetime for lots of reasons :)))) And btw...I will let you all know if the Wee One is the human MB info laden gal that she presents online....LOL Seriously... I am very grateful to you Sylvia for taking the time to include my request into your most delightful excitement over FINALLY getting to see MB in concert!!! Please be gentle with him so he can make it to Glasgow!!!! :))))

A very Happy 2014 it shall be :))))))  And cheers to all the Bolton Buddies on here who will be seeing Michael Bolton this year!!!
