Anyone familiar with traveling North (I am from the Jersey Shore area) by train to get to NJPAC in Newark?  Looks like I can go to Newark Penn Station and walk 5 blocks, but is the area safe?  Are there cabs waiting, should I just take a cab direct?  Then I read about connecting to the light rail that takes you right there across the street, but where do I get that?  Sounds confusing.

And on the way out of the concert at 10pm, will there be cabs around?  I don't want to be walking alone for 5 blocks then.

Thanks for any help fron any one who commutes!

HI JOY! YOU CAN GET THE LIGHT RAIL AT NEWARK PENN STATION WHICH WILL TAKE YOU DIRECTLY TO NJPAC THEN AFTER THE CONCERT YOU CAN TAKE THE LIGHT RAIL BACK TO NEWARK PENN STATION I KNOW IT CAN BE QUITE CONFUSING BUT I DID A LOT OF RESEARCH ON THIS BECAUSE I THOUGHT OF GOING TO THIS CONCERT BUT I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO I HAVE TO WORK THAT DAY I WOULD BE COMING FROM NYC AND IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO MAKE IT THERE ON TIME I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE TWO SUBWAY TRAINS TO NEW YORK PENN STATION THEN TAKE NJ TRANSIT TO NEWARK PENN STATION THEN THE LIGHT RAIL I ESTIMATED IT WOULD TAKE ME AT LEAST THREE HOURS TO GET THERE FROM WORK I GET OUT OF WORK AT THE EARLIEST 6PM BY THE TIME I GET THERE THE CONCERT WOULD BE MORE THAN HALF OVER

I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO NUPAC BUT FROM WHAT I HEARD IT IS SAFE AND WELL LIT I HOPE YOU EN JOY THE CONCERT

Gloria,
Thanks so much for all your helpful info!!! I will check into it in detail.
To bad you can't make it. I will let you all know how wonderful it is!

Joy

Thanks, I will contact Eileen, but she is coming from the other direction (North). Maybe she is familiar with the Newark area. I saw Michael last year in Red Bank, NJ (Count Basie Theatre) in a small theatre about 5 miles from my house! That was wonderful, no problem getting to that one. I can't wait for this one, as I am treating myself to front row seats!!! I have a feeling I won't actually be "sitting" very much! Joy
Hi Sharon,
Thanks so much for your and everyone's quick replies! I am new to this, so I didn't know what to expect. You all are so nice and friendly.
I am such a big MB fan, but no one else I know is that crazy about him and no one wants to go with me! (Can you imagine that? What is wrong with everyone else?)
Joy ;)
No problems Joy.We are like family here and you will always have help if you need it here.
Those people just dont have any taste, lol.
Myself and Juliet had planned our trip around the concert being in the Ethical centre in Nyc and where so looking forward to it but it was cancelled.Unfortunatly we leave on the Wednesday and couldnt change our plans or we would have been able to meet with you,Eileen or anyone else attending.Hope you have a great time at the show.xx
True ,when we get back from Nyc i have ` week for Mb then of course i get to see everyone at Rah .
Juliet ,it wont matter really as there are 6 ladies but i really dont need to see your 6 pack against my flabby gut ,thank you .Also Jenn and Carol wont be there to take pics so maybe hold off until the Rah ,lol
Ha ,i need to excercise ,Im soooo lazy lately .Maybe you will rub off on me when we are away .x
Joy, don't feel bad. If Michael was perfoming here in NYC I would have no one to with as well....I would have to go by myself too. Years ago on New Years Eve 1998, I went to Radio City Music Hall by myself to see Boy George and Culture Club. I felt funny since New Years Eve is the time to be with family and/or friends, but I had no one to go with and always wanted to see Culture Club. In the end, it was one of the best New years eve I had in my life and was so glad that I went!! What a groovy way to spend New Years Eve, with once of the most colorful artists in show business! Once George came on the stage, I forgot I was alone. I'm sure you will feel the same way when Michael appears on the stage! Wish I was going, I would hang out with you! I'm going to see "Rock of Ages" on Broadway November 4, so I have something to look forward to. Just enjoy yourself and get home safe! Hugs, Helena Oh...and don't forget to give us your review!
Juliet,
You all have been so great......a big fan club family! I am pretty obsessed with MB and his music. I never tire of it, I would be embarrassed to admit to most people how much I listen to him over and over again. Now I can admit it and not worry about seeming silly!
I wrote to Eileen Parr, I hope to hear back from her. And I will let you all know next week how great the show is and hope I get some good photos to share with everyone.
Joy
Helena,
Oh, I don't feel bad, just a little worried going by myself. But I will be on the train and light rail so I don't plan on walking a long distance.
I can't wait to be up front to see him close up!! You will love Rock Of Ages, it is so much fun. I took my 24 year old daughter for her birthday last year and we had a blast! Have fun.....
Thanks Joy! Have a Groovy time at Michael's concert!! :)
