I love "These Arms of Mine" or any Otis Redding song would sound great with MB's voice!

Since Michael like's to sing Sinatra, how about the dance version of Stangers in the Night?  Listen to this......

Another good song for Michael to sing (or maybe he has done so already?), is the Sam Cooke song "We're Having a Party".  Love when Rod Stewart sings this one, and it's a good one for Michael too!!  I've also seen Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes perform this live, years ago....really great!!

Helena..xx....

Hi Helena, nope, Michael hasn’t done that  one from Sam Cooke. He’s recorded a very nice “ You send me” and one mighty fine version of “Bring it on home to me” on “Timeless classics” and a different but very lovely version of “What a wonderful world” on “Timeless classics 2”. Oh, He’s also sung  live at a charity event a mesmorizing version of .A change is gonna come” that I wish he would have recorded too. I wish I had a link to show you Helena, but it was indeed very special… I do enjoy both versions of “Having a party”, by the way. Thanks for sharing sweetie, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Hi Sylvie,

I would so much love to hear:

1. Gethsemane/I only want to say. I know he already did this - and further great songs - while his A.L.Webber engagement in 2000, but I still haven't found any audio/video

2. You've lost that loving feeling - see the other thread ;-)

3. If I can dream - a true Elvis song

4 I'll stand by you

A change is gonna come - woa!!!!

Good night (00.47 am in Germany ;-))

Astrid

Hi Astrid, very very nice choice of song!  Okay, first, for the audio of “Gethsemane”, go to this page:

http://michaelbolton.ning.com/forum/topics/songs-i-would-love-micha...

Dianna posted 2 excerpts from the ALW show and hopefully, you can download them too. It didn’t work for me in Canada, but I know some people have heard them. Well, glad I helped you hear “You’ve lost that lovin’ feelin’”, the Elvis song is very nice too. I didn’t know it by title but it’s really nice. I also really love the song “I’ll stand by you”, but don’t really care for the Pretenders’ performance of  it, sorry. I’m sure Michael would do a great job with it. I think they missed a great opportunity, during the “David Foster & friends” show last October, to have Michael sing “A change is gonna come” with Seal, although I love the song they did and can’t wait to have it on CD and DVD, hopefully in spring! Thank you so much for sharing Astrid, take care. Oh and let me know what you think of the songs! Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Hi Sylvie,

thank you so much for the link! Unfortunately microsoft expects a licence due to restrict not more than 10 downloads because it is private. I am suspicious about that - do you have experiences with these things?

So I could not yet hear what I am longing for :-((. From the other replies I learned that some of these lucky ladies own every song Michael did on the ALW Tour. Do you mind me asking if and where they are available? I have been looking for years on record shops, ebay and amazon etc., but have never been successful. Actually I feel completely being "behind the moon" as we say in Germany :-)))

I'll stand by you - it is Rod Stewart's version that makes me melt away, e.g.:

What about Patti LaBelle?

Also I am so much looking forward for MB/Seal on David Foster. Right now I saved a copy from youtube on my cell phone - gives me a perfect start in the morning when I drive for work (7-10 times, depends on traffic conditions :-) ). The missed opportunity for 'A change is gonna come' might become a chance for a further collaboration. When I think of what Michael wrote in his message to this event they seemed to like each other.

I will need some time to check your songs but I will let you know ... - I really enjoy this and will be back soon :-))))

Sending a big hug

Astrid

Hi Astrid, I’m sorry about Dianna’s songs not working for you sweetie. This had never happened to me before, but they didn’t work for me either. To tell you the truth, when I read that license message, I didn’t want to chance it. I doubt that you’d find it anywhere on-line sweetie, that was a bootleg recording. Lots of people have asked Michael why he hasn’t recorded a Broadway album, but we never got a response. However, Michael has said in a couple of articles that he was asked to take part in both “Chicago” and “Phantom of the opera” and we can only hope that there will be some recording of it, whenever that happens. Wow, I’m impressed: Rod did a good job with “I’ll stand by you” and I like Patti’s version too. While checking the Youtube page, I found this one by Carrie Underwood:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6ebvzPgM74&feature=related

Not bad huh? If you don't know Carrie, she was an "American Idol" winner a few years back. Michael has mentionned liking her voice. Oh I hope you’re right about the missed opportunity Astrid, Michael did say he was working on a duets album and yes, he seemed pretty chummy with Seal, from his blog post… I hope we hear news about the David Foster event soon. Take care sweetie and thanks for sharing the links. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Hi Sylvie,

thanks for your information. Let us keep fingers crossed, that he knows how we would love to buy a broadway album. When I think of your hints to the forthcoming album and how Michael described the difficulties to organize a collaboration with people he would like to work with - maybe there are a lot of reasons I would never think of - to me it seems so easy: this song please - and this one too :-))).

By the way, last night a had an idea: what if Michael would do Timeless the classics Vol III - by request.

We could make a list of songs most loved to cover - maybe on the basis of the other thread - and he could in return offer a certain number of songs we could vote for - what a deal would that be :-)). So easy :-))).

Phantom: this is one of my favourite rendition of Music of the night - Sammy Davis jr.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HEK8p_SHiU&feature=related

I have listened to Carry Underwood and liked it - here is one I like even more: 'Alone' together with Heart:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQ7ZmaL2480

I am glad that you liked Rod too - he knows how to sing and charm! Patti LaBelle will be a class of her own forever - how much I love the duet with Michael!!! There are not too many white singers who could thrill a motown audience like he did- and Patti of course -, I guess.

Michael and Seal - please next deal  :-). Maybe produced by David Foster again - sucess almost guaranteed.

Have a nice day

Astrid

Hi Astrid, thanks for your response. Yes I agree that we have to remember that Michael is not a human juke-box! :D I guess what we’re all trying to say is that we’d like our favorite voice to sing our favorite songs. You know Astrid, I like the way you think! Did you know that Bryan Adams did a request CD? His last live album “Bare bones”, from what I understand is an acoustic album he did with fans song requests. Of course,  they were his own songs, but why not be innovative? :D I’m all for it, I already put in a few suggestions in there myself…  Oh my goodness Astrid, can you believe how Sammy sells the song? You can hear that he believed what he was singing, it gave me goosebumps…  If I didn’t know “Phantom of the opera”, that would make me want to check it out, thanks for sharing that! I do have to say that I can appreciate other versions, but number 1 for me, until MB officially records it, will always be, Michael Crawford, « Music of the night » cast recording:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZnuHisHQiY

You can tell he’s inhabited by the character and when he comes down and settles into his lower register as he sings “Nighttime sharpens…”, it’s so beautifully intense and sensuous… That song is something else… About Rod, whatever anyone says, he’s been in the business  for many years and that’s for a reason. I actually quite enjoy his covers of soul songs. Yeah I’ve heard Carrie’s song with Heart, I’ve  watched “American Idol” religiously since season 2. Oh I love Michael’s Motown medley with Patti!  Oh Astrid, I keep checking Youtube for it and it’s a shame I’ve never found it, but  Michael once sang Patti’s song “You are my friend” as a tribute to her: it was so gorgeous… Well, if someone finds it on an old tape at some point, I hope they upload it. Well, it was very nice exchanging with you Astrid, I can tell you’re a true music lover! We should do this again! :D Take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Hi Sylvie, here am I again.

I did not know about Bryan Adams and his album. I thought I was a genius .-)).

The "human juke box" made me laugh, but you are right - what do we expect from a human being? He is already such a giving person.

So glad that you enjoyed Sammy too.

Michael Crawford: yes, sensitiv and seductiv by being empathetic!  --- Here is a link to hear "the" german phantom, Peter Hofmann. He was a trained tenor and called the best Wagner-tenor in the world. I know you like opera too, so maybe you will enjoy it too. It is the Holy Grail-Song from Lohengrin. Since he loved to change genres too - like Michael - he made some wonderful rock classic and pop albums too - and earned massive criticism from the opera section, but was very successful with them. I loved them. Sadly he died in November last year after suffering from Parkinson for years.

I keep my eyes open for "You are my friend" :-)))).

Love from Astrid

Hi again Astrid, Well, you can be a genius and not know everything: as I always tell my kids, intelligence and knowledge are 2 different things.  :D Wow, thanks for the Peter Hofmann links, that’s too bad he died, he must have died pretty young… I’ve listened to all your links and researched some more. He had a very interesting pop phrasing… Did he only record pop music in English? Just curious. BTW, I wasn’t sure if I liked his Phantom duet so I searched for his “Musik der nacht” and loved it!

It’s really nice and soft and sweet… Oh yes, I love opera and really enjoy “in einem fernem land” by both Jussi Björling and Jonas Kaufmann. Oh yes, do let us know if you ever find “You are my friend” by Michael, you never know. All right sweetie, thanks again for the links, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
