"SECURITY is being stepped up ahead of this year’s Upton House Music Festival in Poole which kicks off on Thursday.

The three-day festival from Thursday, June 8 to Saturday, June 10 features a host of star names including Michael Bolton, Billy Ocean and Sir Bryn Terfel.

And organisers say it’s proving to be a record-breaker with ticket sales up by more than 15 per cent on last year’s event.

The park has witnessed a huge amount of activity since over the past few days with construction of the arena and stage gathering pace.

Patrons are being asked to allow extra time to enter the arena due to increased security measures following the events in Manchester and London. All tickets will be scanned at the entrances to the arena and random bag searches will take place.

Festival spokesman Stephen McManus said: “Our aim is to keep disruption to a minimum and I thank people in advance for their patience and co-operation as we ensure this second Upton House Music Festival takes place without a hitch.

“I would advise that you aim to get to the festival earlier than planned for the public gate opening times at 5.30pm each day to avoid possible congestion.

There’s still time to buy the last remaining tickets. For more details or to book, visit uptonhousemusicfestival.co.uk.

The festival starts on Thursday, 8 June with a Classical Spectacular night featuring world renowned bass-baritone Bryn Terfel, Australian soprano Lauren Fagan, the celebrated BSO Concert Orchestra conducted by the acclaimed Gareth Jones and exciting all female electric string quartet Escala.

Lucky Upton Junior School pupils are to witness a special recital and a talk from the Escala girls on Thursday afternoon with a large group of parents and children also set to attend the evening concert.

Friday, 9 June is 80s Extravaganza party night starring incomparable R’n’B superstar Billy Ocean, hugely successful singer Kim Wilde and punk princess Toyah.

Saturday, 10 June sees internationally renowned singer-songwriter Michael Bolton performing in an appearance exclusive to Upton. He will be supported by special guest, ’90s soul singer Kenny Thomas."
