Hi

girls and boys

recently I have bought Michael Jackson COLLECTION 5 CD (the red box)  and Whitney Houston COLLECTION 5 CD. I like very much the cardboard box, the design, the colors,it's useful, practical, all CD together in a small and elegant box, something new for new and young fans.

I was thinking : what about a collection 5 Cd or even more of our Michael Bolton?

what do you think about my idea?

The trouble is Silvy, most of us have all of Michaels albums, plus a whole lot more un-officila ones too and wouldnt gain anything by buying a box set.

I know that I have all of his songs plus many more un- released stuff too but if he would like to officially release the rare stuff I have, I wouldnt say no.

Cant speak for everyone though.

"Unrelesed and/or rare stuff", that makes my heart beating faster Jennifer :-)

Good night

Astrid

from my point of view  and maybe even that of  a doctor's :released stuff makes my heart beat already fast enough, and I am not through every song on every album released yet.but that's just me,I guess- on this forum, but I am maybe representative of the "normal" (no offence meant to Boltonnut)consumer and one outside of the U.S. so far. From what I read about "sales" and commercial success I think something might have happened to not let success of some of the songs or albums happen as they -from a quality-point of view- should have happened.I am not in favour of a 5-pack CD  and what looks like a 6-pack underneath Michael's shirt is far more impressive to me.I think he should release a CD called Michael Bolton :"Jewels" or something which means the very best, incredible songs(like i.e. completely), and maybe 3 or even 4 more new songs(either originals or coverversions of songs, where of I would really like to hear Michael sing the song "all in love is fair" by Stevie Wonder- whilst ideally listening to it while he records it and approve or disapprove of it,as Stevie Wonder recorded a pretty good version of his own song.-well does anyone disagree with me that I can dream of whatever I like-be it the 6-pack or actually one of the producers with mind, body ,soul and spirit?-cheers ....(certainly with spirit)

Astrid,by the way-are you not German?(because I am Austrian)

Hi Angelica, I have to say, to my knowledge, a high percentage of fans who post on a regular basis here are long-time fans, but not everyone is and your opinion is always appreciated. I like that: Boltonnut consumer! :D I’d say that long-time fans are definitely excited by new material, but since we know of the existence of so much that hasn’t been released and keeps popping up on the internet, that’s exciting too. I understand what you’re saying Angelica about the”jewels”, but the choice of songs might be different  from one person to another and I do agree that “Completely” is definitely one. About songs we’d like Michael to cover, there’s this thread on the forum:

http://michaelbolton.ning.com/forum/topics/songs-i-would-love-micha...

It’s full of suggestions and ideas, if you’d like to put in your 2 cents. Oh my goodness, “All in love is fair” is such a magnificent song, good choice! I’d love for Michael to sing pretty much any Stevie Wonder ballad for that matter. In 2007, Michael was on a Syrius program and presented his favorite music and included Stevie’s “Ribbon in the sky” as one of his favorites and I couldn’t believe it because that’s the first Stevie Wonder 45 I ever bought… Well anyway, thank you for sharing Angelica, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Hi Sylvie,

I am listening myself through everything  Michael at the moment and cannot concentrate on all suggestions of songs he should cover unless I know those songs very well and can only take it one day at a time(of that day).At the moment I watched "sitting on the dock of a bay "several times on" Videocure" which seemed right for me( gonna consult with the doctor/only joking,as if a doctor said :stop-at the moment,I would not take that advice,no matter whether my new found love for everything Michael Bolton is really good for my health or not).Hugs I definately need.Love from Angelica

Hi Angelica, no problem, whenever you feel like it, you’ll know where the thread is. Oh I think listening to Michael is very good for the soul and doctors should prescribe at least a small dose every day. :D And by the way, whenever you visit the thread, I personally try as much as possible to include a Youtube link to the song I suggest, because not everybody knows everything, not even me. Sometimes it’s fun to discover new music you wouldn’t have thought of, or never knew about. Astrid herself introduced me to a German tenor a couple of weeks ago and that was really a nice discovery. Well anyway, enjoy your daily dose of DOTB sweetie, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Silvie,I don't know what doctors should prescribe, but I am on the computer again and will  go on discovering Michael.

Hi Juliet,

definately going to be there .Angelica

Hi Angelica.

I like your point of view: Let's appreciate what we already have ... and the continous hunting and collecting will be even more enjoyable because we don't lack anything. We are just looking forward to what is to be discovered (old and new) and what can be shared.

You are Austrian - hello neighbour :-) - so you might have heard about Peter Maffay, a German Rock Singer. He recently presented songs of his 4 decades career in a overwhelming new arrangement - accompanied by an exellent "Rock Orchestra" from Poland. So I wonder how a Blackjack song like (i.e.) "Stay" would sond today! If you are not familiar with this song:

Michael Bolton: Stay (beware: the Blackjack "Stay" on youtube is a sampler!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lisCyTboUz4

But James' explanation really makes sense to me: it is up to the ones who own the rights (if there was interest at all ...)

And I also think of a truth Sylvie the solver put in my heart a couple of days ago: Michael is not a "human juke box" :-) ...

I like the idea of "jewels", but the title has to be considerated carefully, otherwise there could be a missunderstanding - as far as a non native speaker like me has been told :-) ...

Stevie Wonder, more than pretty good ...

Gute Nacht wünscht Dir

Astrid

Hi Astrid, I just wanted to comment that I enjoyed the way you worded “looking forward to what is to be discovered, old and new”. You can actually hear Michael singing “Stay” in ’83, I believe, right here:

http://www.michaelboltonphotos.com/soundfiles.shtml

It’s a live version too. Oh I know whatAngelica meant by “jewels”, she meant “gems “. And in case anyone is interested, this is Stevie Wonder’s “All in love is fair”:

Thanks for sharing girls, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Hey Astrid, who said I was going to sleep after the reply? But thank's anyway for wishing me a good night. It is not always guaranteed.

I am not particular with the title-we are not that far yet, aren't we?,but "all in love is fair" is a song ,which -from my point of view as the singer/songwriter I am(who wants to write a song or more for Michael)should be a great choice for the type of song I hear at the moment for him and it is in the same range as "completely".I wished someone would shout that out to him,as I often hear or see my ideas which come up from some corner of my mind copied or realised by someone else ,before I can even think of  how to get my ideas up,off the ground( to use  my beloved Michael Jackson's words from "keep the faith").

Concerning Peter Maffay: I am not sure whether I might have sung background vocals on one or the other song of his,as -when I lived in Vienna, I was an asked session singer, who often travelled to studio-session work all over, and not always did I hear the finished product or even the lead-vocal.

Hi Silvy, good to see you posting sweetie! Jennifer is right, there are many 2 or 3 CD compilations of Michael’ music, whether they’re mix-matched, 3 various CD’s bundled together, in a slip case, along box  and even one in a tin box. A lot of us collect them over time, but unless the packaging or booklet info  etc would be different, there’s not much point, although I know it’s been done over and over. It would be great if the record company would do special anniversary edition CD’s, with demo or alternate versions, now that would be worth it! Motown did it for Marvin Gaye. I have a 4 CD box set of Daryl Hall & John Oates released 2 years ago that has altogether 21 songs that were previously unreleased, including live tracks and songs they recorded even before they were together and it’s fabulous! There’s even Daryl’s demo of a song he wrote for Céline Dion:”Have you ever been in love”. Personally, I think Michael should definitely put together an album, if not a box set of demos of songs he wrote for other people. I have a clip of his demo for “By the time this night is over”that he wrote for Kenny G and it’s gorgeous. I’d love to hear that in its entirety. He could even put that together and sell it for charity, if he doesn’t think it would be commercially sound… Well, it’s just my opinion. I hope that answers your question Silvy! :D Take care sweetie, hope you’re doing well. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
