Hi

girls and boys

recently I have bought Michael Jackson COLLECTION 5 CD (the red box)  and Whitney Houston COLLECTION 5 CD. I like very much the cardboard box, the design, the colors,it's useful, practical, all CD together in a small and elegant box, something new for new and young fans.

I was thinking : what about a collection 5 Cd or even more of our Michael Bolton?

what do you think about my idea?

ciao

Hi Silvy,

I think this is a great idea, if it follows the format of Sony's The Ultimate Collection, which they released with Michael Jackson. 5 Discs (including 1 DVD of the Dangerous Tour Live in Bucharest 1992(, with a fantastic colour booklet spanning his entire career. The remaining 4 Discs went from The Jackson 5 right up to what was then present day with 2002's Invincible album. As well as the singles there were Demos and never before heard tracks such as Cheater (Bad out take), Monkey Business (Dangerous out take) etc....

Not sure how many out takes are available from MB albums, but I have a load of Demos he recorded for others to hear of his songs, so there's obviously stuff out there but it depends on who owns the rights to these!

I agree with Jennifer that just a rehash and release of existing albums wouldn't appeal. What it also depends on is do Sony see Michael (with them not being together anymore) as a good business opportunity as I guess they will own the rights of all up to Timeless (The Classics) Vol.2, which is when they split? Obviously with Michael Jackson, even in 2005, it was completely different and you cannot compare the two.

Great suggestion thought.

Best, as always,

James

Hi James, ah, so you’re a Michael Jackson aficionado too? I’m not surprised! Florin told us once that Michael has recorded demos for all the songs he’s written so we know they’re out there… Do you know if Michael has written songs for other people and companies aside from Sony? James, when you say you have a load of demos, are you only talking about the 11 Doug James demos, the 3 Jonathan Cain ones and the “Songs from the vault” ones or have you found more? Just curious. You do have a point about the profitability with Sony. I guess I’m just thinking about it from a fan’s point of view, which is why I suggested it could be for charity. Well thanks for your ever pertinent input James, it’s always nice to hear from you, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Sylvie my solver and P.I.

I am right behind you, following your path ... lol

Astrid

Hi  to everybody again

thanks for your messages! and for your inputs!

I'm always open for new, old, "gems", "jeweles" CDs but after reading your messages I thought that there are lots of problems:

1) as James said: the rights

2) to recorder new materials it need time, and Michael has to break his tour, nowdays touring make more money than recordering a CD

3) a new tour after a new CD means to change a little the old song list, is Michale ready to do this, when the present tour works very well?

4) for example is he ready for an unplugged  (acoustic) concert tour?

Hi Silvy, well we are expecting a new CD in May and Michael told Robin from MD that he was working hard to release it on schedule. His tour is winding down: he only has a few more dates in March and at the end  of April. Michael has already started changing the setlist a little with “Sweet home Chicago” and “Hallelujah” that he said would be on his next album. Oh my, an unplugged tour, that would be fantastic, but I don’t think that’s the way he’s going right now, but I like your idea!  Remember last fall, Michael had mentioned being asked to be part of “Chicago” and “Phantom of the opera” and he said that’s the direction he’s moving in? It sounded to me, that  since he was starting to perform “Sweet home Chicago” that he just might deliver the blues album he’d been promising for a while, get that out of the way and then move on to Broadway-type. I know nothing, but as Astrid suggested, I’m picking up clues! Lol Only time will tell, I guess. Thanks a lot for sharing and starting this thread Silvy, tanti baci, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Yes, sylvie, May, its not too far away is it?

I'm praying too that the new album will be the Blues one he promised me he was working on and promised he would let us have a live Rock me baby too!! He said that track was already recorded and 'in the bag' but I live in hope and prayers that it will be on the new album.

I think you are right Sylvie and I was thinking the same thing about sweet home chicago's new inclusion in the concerts. I seriously reckon our blues album is on its way to us!!!!

What date in May is Mothers day in the US? Can we start a countdown for the release and put some pressure on Michael to get off of 'Michael Bolton time'.

I love the idea of an 'un plugged' album too and also the idea of an official  ALW CD and DVD bonus would be amazing. I do have some of the ALW tracks and they are really great, but to have them recorded officially, well, that would be the icing on the cake!

We will just have to wait because Michael did promise us a surprise and possibly a West End surprise too.

Oooh I can feel the tension and the excitement building!!

Hey Jen, well, I’d rather be cautious about hoping for certain things, but the clues are there. Mother’s day is always the second Sunday of May, but remember 2 years ago when we were expecting “One world one love” for mother’s day? I know Michael is doing his best and I’ll take it whenever it comes. Oh boy, an entire ALW album… Girl, Astrid was sweet enough to share old reviews of Michael’s ALW tour in 2000 and he said in one of the articles that he wanted to record a Broadway album in the near future… That was 11 years ago… Of course, we know it’ll be worth it when it gets here, but I’d rather be cautious than disappointed. About the West End surprise, do keep your ears and eyes open Jen and keep us posted! Take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

That's funny Juliet...LOL!!!

Well, the CD can also be released on Memorial Day weekend which is the last weekend in May.  It's also considered the official start of summer here in the states.  Usually some good movies come out around that time.....think the new "Pirates of the Carribean" is due then.  Looking forward to seeing that!   :)
