Hello Everyone,

As always ready to jump in .... how about 'Lady Berlin' or 'Wichtig' which hopefully translates to 'Important' in German.   If not, and it's offensive, my apologies ... and Google's!   I like Wichtig ;)

I know 2 MB fans called Brenda, not sure if either are still on the forum though.   'Fairytale' was lovely, by the way.  Thank you :)

hugs, di xxx

Hi Lady Berlin, I’m glad you got yourself a name! Lol Wow, you have interesting taste in music... I’d never heard of of eitherLudovico Einaudi or Yiruma. I guess Mr Einaudi is a composer and Yiruma is a pianist? I enjoyed the pieces you’ve shared with us and found another really gorgeous piece called “The moment”.

I had to check if it was the same as Kenny G’s but it wasn’t, , but it’s still very nice, thank you so much for sharing!. Here’s Kenny G’s song:

That one brings back good memories of my youngest son when he was little... Now, I’d love to hear more about how you’ve discovered Michael’s music,, so I’ll give you this link:

If you feel like sharing about how you’ve discovered Michael and his music and what it means to you, we can all meet on that page. :D By the way, did you find the lyrics you were looking for? Just checking. Well anyway, thanks again for sharing the links, take care Lady Berlin. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

P.S.: We'll take you up on that offer of a drink when Michael returns to Berlin! :D

Oh Sylvie,

Thank you so much for the link to Kenny G's 'The Moment'.    It's lovely, but that's not the right word to describe it.   It must be so special to you so thank you for sharing here and especially today for me.   It's Mother's Day in the UK :D

Lady Berlin, I'm so glad you're enjoying yourself but more importantly, Michael and his music :)    Sylvie is the expert if you have any questions, I'm just someone that seems to be thanking her constantly!    As well as suggesting names that sound dirty ... apparently! ;)

I'm going to have a look at the link about discovering Michael now!

Hi Diane, you’re very welcome. Well happy mother’s day to yougirl and all mums in the U.K! May I ask how many kids you have? I have 4. The story behind “The moment” is when my son was 3, he knew I loved music and caught on to a commercial of this CD on a show I’d taped for him and came to get me so I’d listen. Years later, he said he couldn’t listen to this piece because it made him emotional... Awww, I know... :D Now Diane, please don’t call me “expert” because it’s too much pressure! Lol A few weeks back, I thought Sylvia nailed it when she called me “forum librarian”... :D Incidentally, there’s a similar link to a thread called “How did you discover Michael”:

Have fun Diane! Take care sweetie, Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Hi Lady Berlin and thank you again for the lovely music. I loved the “I giorni” song with strings:

I’m curious to know why you picked Ludovico as your favourite out of all the pianists out there. I can tell you love your piano pieces a lot and this is the style I enjoy, but I have to say I’m fairly selective when it comes to the piano. However, I love violin and especially cello pieces. I know this gorgeous piece by contemporary Estonian composer Arvo Pärt called “Spiegel im Spiegel”, played here by Anne Akiko Meyers, who played on “Pride” on MB’s album “Gems”:

A radio host on CBC Radio 2 described this piece as “repairing the damage of speed” and I think that’s very fitting, I really love it and hope you do too. Well, take care Lady Berlin and thanks again. :D Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Hi again Lady Berlin, that was really nice, thank you again for sharing. :D Take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Right now I'm listening to 'At The Very Mention Of Your Name', Gilbert O'Sullivan.     I've included a link but agree it's over the top with the electric guitar.   Nevertheless, a wonderful song from an incredibly talented Artist.

Hey Diane, that was a nice song, thanks for sharing it. Wow, are you doubting the expertise of David Foster? :D I estimated, listening to it, that it was done late 80’s, early 90’s and the description said it was done in ’87. I actually like the production, but I don’t think it’s well matched with Gilbert’s voice, which is softer and sweeter. Girl, I know one song by him: “Alone again, naturally” and that’s it. Does he play much on the radio in Scotland? Just wondering.

Well, while I’m here, I’ll share the last song I heard on the radio before sitting at the computer.

It’s an excerpt from the 1994 production of a 1977 rock opera called “Starmania” and the song is “La complainte de la serveuse automate” which means “The lament of the robotic waitress”. It’s an interesting version, but my favourite is the operatic version from my favourite soprano, Marie-Josée Lord:

I attended the contemporary opera they adapted from the original 3 years ago and it was mind-blowing! Well, in my opinion anyway, what do I know? :D Thanks again for sharing Diane, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Hi Sylvie,

The only other video I could find for that song was recorded live by a fan, so it wasn't as clear.  I chose that link so anyone who wanted could hear the song properly.     It's just my opinion regarding the electric guitar.  Nothing against David Foster, just my own opinion.

'The Very Best of Gilbert O'Sullivan' was released fairly recently so there have been quite a few interviews to promote it.   Good to see the media taking an interest in his music again and long overdue :)

I preferred the latter version by Marie-Josee Lord, thank you for that.    I should imagine it was mind-blowing, glad you had the opportunity to attend! :D

Listening to 'All They Wanted To Say' at this minute.

Hey Diane, I was just teasing about you questionning David Foster, I questionned him myself... :D I'm glad you enjoyed Marie-Jose, I don't mean to push opera on people. The first time I heard her sing an excerpt from the same opera called: "Le monde est stone", I just dissolved in my chair: Powerful stuff. I wish Michael would sing with her... :D Take care Diane and thanks for sharing sweetie. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Hi everyone, while searching for a Daughtry CD at my local library, I came across a Santana CD they perform on called Guitar heaven” and borrowed it. Of course, you can’t go wrong with Santana, but it’s a collaboration CD so I was curious. I was pleasantly surprised by the whole CD and even got my classic rock-loving son to enjoy it. I have to say there’s not a bad song in the bunch and although I missed the original vocals on both AC/DC’s “Back in black” and Van Halen’s “Dance the night away”, I really enjoyed the Santana infusion of classic songs with other artists, included those 2 songs and the Daughtry collaboration of the Def Leppard song “Photograph”:

and also another collaboration of “Riders on the storm”, really really nice and definitely worth checking out. Hope you enjoy it. Take care and hugs to all, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
