Hi Helena Thank you so much for your kind words, they are very soothing. Yes I know that one of these days soon I am going to think seriously about taking Ashley to a home. I just have heard many horror stories about group homes for female adults. I am glad that you were able to find a good place for your brother. Please give your mother both Ashley's as well as my best wishes. Peace & love Tom & Ashley
Hi Helena, yes I had a great weekend: I went to the opera on Saturday and had a great day with my opera buddy, thanks for asking. So, what show was that on Friday? I don't check the tour list very often, because Michael hardly comes to my area, but I do get updates when new dates are added. Was it Michael you saw on Friday? I think he's going to be in NY November 1st, isn't he? Will you be going? lol sorry for the 20 questions! Well, whenever you see him, hope you share your concert review with us. I'll look forward to hear from you, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
Hi Helena, wow, good for you going to see aBroadway show! Was it a musical? I’m not into “Star Trek” so have only heard of Patrick Stewart. I can’t imagine what it’s like to live in NY and have all this beautiful culture so readily available! I’d like to go to NY in my life to hear Juan Diego Florez at the Met and attend “Phantom of the opera”… I have an old tour list on the computer and Michael was scheduled to be at the Ethical Center on November 1st but I guess it got canceled, I’m sorry. Yeah, the charity thing is on Friday in Mandelay, where’s Mandelay? In any case, Gail just posted this morning that the David Foster thing will be filmed and released both as a CD and a DVD! Don’t know if it’ll be apackaged combo or separately, but either way, it’s all good! Take care Helena and thanks for writing. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
Hi Helena, if you were in high-school in the 80’s, you’re not that old girl! Lol Hmm, when you say “hard rock” that you listened to, which artists are we talking about? Also, I’m not sure how long you’ve been a fan so do you know Michael’s “Everybody’s crazy”? I love that album! Cool you get discount tix for Broadway shows, we all need a friend like that! Oh, going to NY is more of a dream than anything sweetie: money’s pretty tight. Juliet is gonna meet a lot of people during her trip! Yep, pretty sure the David Foster thing will be in Vegas. Too bad charity events are so expensive, my friend Robin has access but not the funds, she’s in CA. I think it’s great to plan going to Vegas for your birthday: will this be a milestone birthday? Just curious. I do like Barry Manilow. Oh yes, I do go to the opera as often as I can, which means about twice a season if I’m lucky, plus the opera gala in December. I actually just attended “Rigoletto” last weekend here in Montreal; I live in the suburbs. Then it’ll be the gala and the following one will be in June 2011. Is your Canadian friend a Bolton fan? Ontario fans are lucky: Michael visits Casino Rama practically every tour. Well thanks for writing Helena, good to hear from you! Take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
lol Helena, I'm sorry, I had a lot of messages to respond to this morning and you were the next one in line, before I realized it was 11:00 and I hadn't been in the tub yet! lol I'm getting to it right now, for real this time! Okay, if you haven't disabled your E-mail notices to get E-mails when someone sends you a PM, you should get an E-mail when I send it. otherwise, you would need to check your in-box on your profile page, but don't ask me where it is, I have no idea! Oops, did I forget to mention I'm blind? lol Talk to you soon. Take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
Hi Helena, to find your in-box, you should ask Gail or the admin might be able to help. I've been here since the beginning of this forum and gave up trying to find it, good luck! Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
Hi Helena, glad you enjoyed the timeline. Did you learn anything? :D And this was all from memory! I'll get to your PM as soon as I can, I'm a little short for time today. Have a great weekend sweetie. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
This is my first time writing to you. Neat you live in NYC. I've been a couple times. I used to live in Maryland&moved out here to L. A. CA 3 years ago&love it.
Where did you see Michael? Or have you yet? I was at Sunset Station, Cerritos&Ivins Utah this year. Good seeing your posts.
Hello Helena, I have one DVD of Michael ! I bought it in the beginning of the year but, unfortunitely, the zone of written is wrong ! I 'm in France and you, in The USA : if you accept, giving me your adress, i'll send you this ! It's a treasure for me but i can't watch it !! Please, answer me for having this for Thanksgiving or just before Christmas.... Hugs Bye BD
Hi Helena, glad you had a fun time with Juliet! Hee-hee, actually, my son hated the movie and didn’t even watch it all the way through. Remember the movie “Airplane” with Leslie Nielson? He wanted to watch something he hadn’t seen before, guess it’s not his kind of humor. My husband loves it though. It’s funny how I seem to have a different genre of movie with each kid. I’ve read your post about asking Michael to go to N Y, good luck with that girlfriend! I’ve read 2 other people’s posts on various blogs, aside from mine, asking Michael to come back to Montreal and we’re still waiting. I even suggested that his tour manager should find a complete map of Canada, so he can assess that Canada does extend past Vancouver and that dang Rama Ontario! :D Well, you get nothing if you don’t ask so, keep asking, that’s all I can say. Take care Helena and have a great day. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
Hey Helena, well as I’ve said: good luck with getting Michael’s attention and getting him to sing in NY! Oh my husband is a big Leslie Nielsen fan. Yeah I remember you telling me you had spoken on the phone a few times. Out of curiosity, I checked it out and he’s 84! The last I heard is that he had hearing problems and the last movie we saw of him was a spoof of superhero movies but don’t remember the title. Did you know he was Canadian? He’s from Saskatchewan eh! Lol Oh that reminds me, I’ve read yesterday that you live in Bensonhurst, do you have that wonderful accent that we hear in movies? Please Helena, I don’t mean any disrespect, I just love accents! I used to watch “Welcome Back Kotter” and just loved Barbarino’s accent! Well, I love John Travolta, period. I’ve been told I don’t have an accent and frankly, I just say “eh” when I mention something Canadian or I’m being silly… :D All right Helena, I hope you do meet up with Juliet on her way back and maybe even go to a concert with her someday. Isn’t this forum great? All right girl, gotta go, breakfast time, gotta get my boys in gear. Talk to you later, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
Hey Helena, thanks for your response girl, I enjoyed it very much! Ah memories… Well Helena, I have seen before because my sight has been dimming all my life, so it’s hard to say what details I actually saw. I do remember the “Welcome to Brooklyn” sign and the train passing, I even remember the opening credits of WBK, but some details escape me. Wow, if I’d been in your shoes, you don’t know what I would have done to try and see John Travolta! Lol Oh I drooled over him in “Saturday Night Fever”… Those beautiful baby blues… Oh I miss blue… lol You see girl, I’m geographically challenged, but when you mentioned Bay Ridge, I remember John mentioning it in the movie. That is so amazing that this was your high-school and what are the odds you having the same birthday as him? Lol yeah I know when his birthday is: I have collected articles, posters etc, all in several albums and I’ve kept them, even though I can’t see them any more! Lol Yes I enjoy STYX and thought it was too bad when Dennis left. I don’t care for Larry Gowan, although I do know him, he’s Canadian. I love to hear accents and especially mimick them and even try to pick out from what region a Brit accent is from, like Yorkshire, Manchester, or London. I just love the Australian accent! Wow, this was a lot of fun! Thanks for writing Helena, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
hi helena great concert last night robin was at his best could have sang all night, had the best time he sang all the favourites, i will hav e photos soon and maybe a video but someone else took them so i willl have to wait for them. nice to be your friend
Hi Helena, how are you? Well I hope. So how was “Rock of ages”? Was it everything you thought it would be? Oops, I’ve just realized I’m a little late for your usual response time, it’s past lunch! Lol Ahh, that’s really too bad about Styx and Dennis being forced to leave. I loved his voice and own their greatest hits on CD and several 45’s. Also, Dennis sang a duet with this Quebec guy Eric Lapointe 3 years ago and it wasn’t bad, although I’m not an Eric Lapointe fan. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ty-y-2MTYZc
The song is called “100 years from now”. No, I didn’t know about Chuck. I can’t say that I’ve followed their career past the 80’s. Sorry to hear he’s HIV positive. Well Helena, write when you can, not much to report here, except you should definitely check the “2010 concert tour review” thread, there are a couple of whoppers in there since yesterday! Take care sweetie and have a great weekend! Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
Helena have you seen any info about the concert in Atlantic City and can't find any info on it at all!!! I was thinking about going to that one. Also to Springfield Mass!!!! If you get any about AC please let me know. Thanks!
Love Eileen xoxox
Hi Helena, yeah thanks for posting your review of " Rock of ages”, good to know it does have a plot. Have you read the reviews of it? Just curious. Speaking of reviews, glad you read the MB Newark reviews and saw the videos! I wanted to post all the links to them because once, I trusted that a rare M&M’s commercial was on a page I’d saved but when I had time to check it, it was gone. It was a British commercial where Michael sang the jingle! I did find it again and put it on the “new videos” thread. Wow, sounds like you’ll have a lot of B-day planning to do! But isn’t it always about coordinating everyone being at the same place at the same time? :D Wow, milestone birthdays indeed: will you do something very special or you all like it to be informal? Good luck seeing the movies too: my girls are big Harry Potter fans and so is one of my friends. I’m afraid that trend has slipped by me… :D Oh so cool you got Orrin’s CD! Let me know what you think of his voice and his songs once you listen to it. Ah cute! Lol If you ever go see Orrin, you should wear that T-shirt! Lol Oh yes, I’m having a great weekend: woke up to “That’s what love is all about” on the radio this morning! It was on the “American Top 40 classic countdown” and I knew it was gonna play. It was Michael’s first appearance on the AT40 in the week of November 7 1987. I picked up a couple of CD’s and an audio book at the library and raked the yard this afternoon and had take-out so didn’t have to cook! I missed my opera on the radio but will remedy that with a DVD this week. Okay, I’ve rambled on long enough so let me get out of here, talk to you later sweetie, take care and thanks for writing. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
I've been to New York in 1976, 2001,&2009&love it. Oops. I was there in 2003&2005. I saw Michael at the I think it's called Southfork Theater in Westbury. I took a cab to the train, got Amtrak, cab to visit friends, cab back to the train station&got a cab from the train to the holiday inn, one from there to&from the concert&then, after breakfast, the same routine back to Baltimore in 2005.
What kind of work do you do since you said you had to go back to lunch? Awesome. i used to be a switchboard operator&receptionist at the Maryland School for the Blind for 19 years&worked at SSA 8 years&have had several other jobs. I'd say I've worked 30 some years of my life&am now retired.
Isn't it amazing how much one canhave in common? You're speaking about your brother with multiple disabilities. My middle brother has severe epilepsy, paralyzed on the right side&is profoundly retarded. he's been in group homes since 1981&was in Springfield State Hospital from 60 until 81. It's a psychiatric hospital&his issues are not psychiatric.
Thanks for telling me about your job. My dad died 11/18/99&mom died 5/10/07.
As you may know, I'm totally blind but it doesn't stop me that's for sure.
Yeah, it is neat being retired. I've seen Michael in concert many times. I've been on this rodio 18 years now. :D
Helen, Awesome you were in Baltimore&Annapolis. Baltimore's my home. There's a twin Towers apartments on Charles&Calvert Streets. Good lookin' military guys, huh? :D
Helena, I'm afraid I don't have anything anymore. I did help the fan in the Netherlands that made the calendars sell them but she hasn't made any over the past few years. Have you checkd ebay? Sometimes during tour time people will sell things there. Gail
There's a hotel not too far from the Taj Mahal called the pallace. Check in to that one. Ask Gail. She can tell you. I stayed there in November 2006&it was $36 plus tax for one night, ok?
Helena, sweetie, you got me smiling from ear to ear, thank you! I read your review before your message, thank you so much for posting this and letting me know! Oh yes, do write to Orrin and I really hope he writes back, that was a great review and Orrin could use all the publicity he can get! It's a good thing you told me you were gonna write to him because I would have copied your review and sent it to him! lol A personal message is even better! Oh I'm sorry I sound like a total nutcase girl, but I know how much effort Orrin put into it and I've followed his hardships to get this album released so, I'm really glad he's getting recognition and publicity. Hope your review sells even more! All right, late enough, I'm out of here. Thanks again Helena, I really appreciate it, take care. Big hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
Hey Helena, well, I resemble that remark! lolOrrin has always been good to me and I know that he does appreciate the support, he thanked me profusely on his personal signature on my CD! :D Sweetie, whether Orrin responds or not, I know he appreciated your message. Girl, I’ll tell ya, over the past 9 years, I’ve written to him 74 times and he’s responded 14 times. Most often, I send him random messagesabout my thoughts, something I’ve heard etc and I don’t really expect him to respond, but at least he knows I’m thinking of him. Oh yes I wish I could be there at his gig, but if I’m lucky, one of my friends will attend and I’ll get a report: fingers crossed. Fingers crossed for the 2 concerts for you too girl! Okay sweetie, gotta go but thanks for writing, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
Sorry you're not feeling well. Perhaps a good night's sleep will help.
There's a story behind that picture of me with Michael. There's this photo shop near the Hollywood Walk of Fame&there's a gazillion photos of celebrities&this guy took this picture of Michael&of me&did it on a computer to make it look like I was with Michael. I wish.
How old are you? I'm 61. Hope you don't mind my asking.
helen, Yes, honey, I've met Michael. The last time I spoke with him was 9/14/09 at the golf reception afterwards. It was brief. I also accidentally saw him before he went to the golf event that day&I said, "Oh, I know that voice."&there he was. It was totally awesome. I don't have many pictures of me with Michael. Just between you&me about the pic though.
When in February is your birthday? Age is just a #.
Hi my beautiful Helena, without knowing, you made my night baby girl! Lol I’ll respond to your PM as soon as I can, but I had to deal with your “Don’t make me wait for love” emergency! Lol Okay, this will be a wonderful afternoon delight for you tomorrow… I got you 2 versions. The first one is the one Silvy posted, from Kenny G’s live DVD: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8gRBLqWK3Y&feature=fvst
The second one is from Kenny G’s live CD: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J61gZXh6_eo
Girlfriend, brace yourself: there’s an extra part in this one in the middle that you don’t need visuals for… Just close your eyes and it’s pure honey for your ears… I’ll tell ya, with that interpretation and cheesecake, who needs a man? Lol Woops, sorry about that! Lol I meant: uhm, it’s very nice, hope you enjoy it… :D Take care Helena and if you can’t listen to this at work with your colleagues watching you, save it for Saturday morning but do have a good time with your girlfriends tomorrow…Take care sweetie. Big hugs, sincerely, your nutty friend Sylvie
P.S.: Of course I have both versions! :D
Someone burned me orin's CD. His first ones are ok. Just because he's Michael's brother doesn't mean I'm a fan. he's in to that Jamaican stuff. No thanks. I still have to listen to his CD.
HI! Just wanted to say a quick hello . It's been so busy I really have had no time to get on! Have you heard anything about the concert in Atlantic City? Be in touch really soon!!
Love Eileen xoxoxo
Hi Helena, I would drive down to see him!!! We could find a train station in NJ Across the bridge like Bayonne or somewhere and we could drive down together if you want! Then you would not have to take a bus all the way down!!! We can figure it out! It would be great fun to be with a BB!!! Talk to you soon! I keep checking so between the 2 of us checking we should find out something!
Hugs! Love Eileenxoxox
lol yeah I read it and commented back! :D Heheh, you think I'm a bad influence? You ain't seen nothin' yet! lol I do hope you enjoy the CD's sweetie: "Time love and tenderness" is filled with just that... It's no wonder it sold over 10 million copies! You'll have to let me know when you get it and have had time to listen to it. Take care sweetie and goodnight. Hugs, sincerely, your dry-roasted friend, Sylvie from Canada
Hi Helena, I’ve checked out the discussion early this morning, but I have to ask my husband which password he used to sign me up, I’m sorry. Oh don’t worry, I will post as soon as I get a chance. Thanks for touching base Helena. Now, I want to get off this thing: I think I’ve been on for 3 hours flushing out messages and I’ve had it! It was a lot of fun but now I’m spent! All right girl, talk to you soon, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
Hi Helena, I’m not too bad. I’ve had a very quiet weekend: my boys were off to a youth retreat. I’m guessing you weren’t able to see your other brother? That’s too bad but glad your weekend was nice. I should start Xmas decorating next Saturday and then off to the opera gala on Sunday: I can’t wait since I know my favorite soprano will be there! Oh boy, yes I remember the Macarena… I’ve asked hubby and he can’t remember my password for Orrin’s site or even if we had one, hello? I’m gonna have to E-mail Anna. I’ll get to your PM as soon as I can and tell you about my musical discoveries… :D Take care sweetie and have a great week. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
Hey Helena, cool you finally got your CD’s! Yes mam, TLT is an awesome CD! So many great songs… Well I’m glad you enjoyed Kenny’s CD too. Oh boy, don’t know if I could sleep after “Don’t make me wait for love”! myself! lol I’ve listened to “a Twisted Xmas” CD again tonight and I love it. Oh Helena, you have to listen to this, it’s their version of the “12 days of Xmas”, it’s hilarious! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grwP8QvI1jY
Hmm, “La bamba” by Michael? Well, although I do love that song, frankly, I don’t know about that, but here’s something else you might enjoy, although I have to warn you that the audience is a bit much… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygZKdp-zNJM
Let me know what you think. :D Well, off to more messages and laundry. Take care Helena. From your bad-to-the-bone influence, hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
