Michael has a milestone birthday coming up in February 2018. I ran an idea past Gail that passed with approval. I have small cards that are 2.5X3.5. The idea for the card is not to say happy birthday, but you have room to put a few sentences to tell Michael why you love him, his music or how his music helped you in hard times. It’s should be big enough for a wallet size photo if you would like. Then when he’s home sitting at his desk, he can pull 1 or 2 cards to read when he has the time. Our words will be with him all year. 1- I request a SASE, and I will send you a card. Write your note and put in your picture. When your finished, mail it back to me. For those out of the country, I checked with my postmaster and she said you can put your own postage on the return envelope equivalent to $1.15 US. Email me, Sally, at MYSCRTPSSN@gmail.com and I can give you an address to send your SASE (self addressed stamped envelope). 2- Another option that isn’t as personal, is to email me a short note and I can cut and paste it onto a card for you. I don’t want to handle pictures this way because I’m not that computer literate and don’t want to make errors with something as personal as a picture. When all the cards are gathered, I’ll put them in some sort of decorate box. And the box of cards will be Michael’s birthday gift from us. 3- you can also. Send me your note via snail mail and I’ll put it in a card for you. I’m open to suggests and will do what I can to make this easy for us both.
Your welcome to share my email with anyone you think may be interested in contributing to Michael’s milestone 65! Looking forward to hearing from you, Sally
Hi Mer, well, have fun getting lost! Lol Here’s the link I promised. It’s not MB related, but since you liked my post on the “Remembering 9/11” thread, this is another thread in the “off topic” section that has fun, non MB-related finds. There are pictures, jokes and heartwarming stories. I get a lot of forwards and share my nicest ones.
Hi again Mer, well it looks like I’ve already told you how to explore the discussions… The main “discussions” page can be reached from a few places though. As I’ve said before, if you click on “all discussions” on any thread, you’ll get there. You can also get there if you click on the “discussions” link on your page, which will take you to an overview of all the messages you’ve posted yourself and the link “all discussions” is there too. From the main “discussions” page, you can click on, let’s say “general chat” and it will take you to an overview of various threads. The most recently responded to are on top. Watch out though because the thread overviews are several pages long! Well anyway, if you don’t have time to check them all out, again, I can direct you. I’ve been here since May last year so I have a pretty good idea of the most fun and interesting threads. All right sweetie, I’m out. I have laundry to deal with and there’s an interesting Lady Gaga interview on TV. So as I’ve said before, have a great week! Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
Hey Mer, good to hear from you! Wow, so that means you’re always Bday present shopping? :D Well okay, no problem. Let’s see, first, there’s this “Introduction to Michael” thread:
I just looooooove this thread! I’m sure you’ll find quite a few cool surprises and the extra bonus of one of Michael’s childhood friends even helping out! Oh Mer, how I miss road trips and going to concerts with Bolton buddies… I’ve had some of the best times of my life with BB’s. I wish I could drive myself and God only knows to how many concerts I’d go to, if I could afford it. Oh, I just thought of another thread that might be fun for you:
That one is all about fans’ first concert experiences: there are great, fun and heartwarming stories in there. Okay, you’ll find out soon that comments on people’s walls are only so long, so I’ll send you another message to help you explore the site. Take care sweetie and have a great week! Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
Hi again Mer, OMG, I was picturing you having 5 little ones and here you are with 6 grandkids? Life is never boring now is it? :D Well my dear, it’s a good thing fans are not measured by the amount of concerts they go to. I think you’re very fortunate to be able to attend a concert once a year. I’ve been a fan for over 21 years and have only been to 7 concerts, 5 of which I’ve had to travel for, as far as Mississippi. The fan review thread is the most popular, but there are threads on topics such as your discovery of Michael, people’s first concert experience, your favorite song, promotion appearances, “New videos on YouTube”, a fantastic historical thread about Michael’s early early days with vintage articles etc and there’s even an off-topic section. I’m sure you have tons to contribute Mer! If or when you have the time, either ask me or click on the “all discussions” link. There are I think 7 categories like “general chat”, “the music”, “photos” etc. Click on one and browse the threads. Oh you’ve noticed I’m on a lot? Lol Mer, this is the first, almost completely blind-friendly web site and I’m taking full advantage of it! :D Oh yes, Michael makes it to Rama Ontario each year (8 hours away for me) and maybe to BC. His tour manager doesn’t seem to have received my full map of Canada… ;( Cool you’ve enjoyed your trip to Canada. If you come to Quebec, try and brush up on your French! :D People do speak English here obviously but French can help a lot. Well my dear, that’s it for now. I’m still catching up and far from done. Have a great weekend sweetie. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
Thanks for accepting my friend request and for your kind comments about my photos on my page - I love looking at those; the "old" and the "new"......the photo of Michael at the golf is a recent one and was taken at the Samuel L Jackson Charity Event for Fitflop which was held at Wentworth in the UK over 4th/5th August, 2011and below is another photo from that event of Michael smiling which I hope you like ! :)
Hey Mer, thanks for the friends request! I'm a little backed up in responses, as usual, but I'll respond to your comment as soon as I can. Have a great week! Take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canadaà
Hi Mer, when I read new names on the forum, I check on their page where they’re from, out of curiosity. I knew you had been here for a good while, but hadn’t realized how long. Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for posting your story on your page of how you came to know about Michael. I have 4 kids myself and I can’t imagine what it would be like to have been in your situation. I always have a soft spot for people who have an attachment to “When I’m back on my feet again” because it’s my favorite all-time song from anyone. Well, I don’t know how much time you have to spend on this site, but if you’d like, I could direct you to a few interesting threads. Although I’m not sure how much time you have with 5 kids! :D Well anyway, thanks again for sharing your moving story, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
I'm fairly new to this site-- just picked up on the blogs about a month ago. I first really tuned into Michael Bolton's music some 14 years ago, shortly after my divorce. It was while working through the aftermath of an additional traumatizing and heart-breaking experience that his rendition of Bill Wither’s song, "Lean on Me" caught my attention, and then later, Michael’s own "Back On My Feet Again". These were songs that gave me a sense of hope at the time-- I did indeed rely on my friends during that time of anxiety. And I'm happy to say that I did indeed get back on my feet, as a single mom with 5 children. And though there have been ups and downs since then, I know that I will ALWAYS be able to get "back on my feet again".
