I flew to Nashville yesterday and attended the funeral of a giant, in our world of music ... a dear friend and one of my greatest heroes and champions, Frances Williams Preston. A brilliant light and powerhouse in the music industry. BMI's long time leader and fierce advocate for songwriters. A woman who was not only an example and inspiration to all women but someone who left a profound impact on every man and woman who worked for her and BMI. I loved her and so treasured my long friendship with her. My heart, my love, and my support goes out to her wonderful family. Vince Gill spoke and said, 'Frances was a powerful woman. And power doesn't look good on most people, but Frances was kind.' And immediately everyone was in tears. MB forever grateful to Frances Preston. These are just a few of our very fond memories together...

.......... Love and gratitude, admiration and respect are forever ...........
Do not stay at my grave and weep / I am not there / I do not sleep / I am a thousand winds that blow / I am a diamond glints on snow / I am the sun on ripened grain / I am the gentle autumn rain / When you awaken in the morning's hush / I am the swift uplifting rush / Of quiet birds in circling flight / I am the soft star-shine at night / Do not stay at my grave and cry / I am not there / I did not die ........... Dear Michael. So sorry to hear about you dear friend Frances. Here is a small poem that I hope will bring some comfort to everyone who knew her in this sad time.
Gone But Not Forgotten
by Cecilia M. Kocher
The years we've shared have been full of joy.
The memories we've made will go on and on.
I haven't stopped crying since you went away,
and I've asked God time and time why couldn't you stay.
You lit up my life, my hopes, and my dreams.
You've opened my eyes to see what it all means.
So now that you're gone how can I forget;
Because you were the greatest out of all I have met.
Regards
Sheroda
