Nice photo Michael!
I don't think that there is a city in this fabulous country of ours that should ever stop "dreamin." Would that we all had a Michael Boltonto fund our dreams of a better tomorrow for our children. Remember that "charity begins at home" and the people of Detroit, or any other city, should never depend upon the generosity of others to make their dreams come true but rather upon their neighbors and communbiity. Such dreams become the rallying point for the inhabitatns of an area to pool their collective talents, skills and energies. Seven million dollars can buy a lot of lumber and labor but can never be a substitute for the love, devotion and commaraderie that infuses a place with the loving nurturing necessary to turn a patch of land into a fruitful and healing home. Now if you really want to see some progress - call upon the fans, the Detroit populace (young and old) and transform it from guts to glory. Money alone can't do it and one person alone can't do it. It's the need that plants the seed that must be nurtured and nourished in order for it to blossom. Call it a labor of love for only LOVE conquers all things....without the people's involvement, you will only return one day to find unchanged. The "spirit" that was Motown has languished. I hard Barry Gordy was declaring bankruptcy. Perhaps helping to resolve Motown's financial deficits might have had more impact. Every town, every village, every city, every country has a heart and soul all its own - it is the people who reside there. Empower the people, don't overwhelm them with money but with a spirit of "let's roll up our shirtsleeves and get to work." Organize, pitch in, bring the neighbors together and celebrate. They can do it - don't unerestimate the power of the heart. Motown's music is a reflection of that spirit - let it live again!
