This deplorable situation pains me immensely.  It is hard to believe that women are so poorly regarded in any country.  Upon reflectiion it wasn't all that long ago that women in the USA did not have the right to vote.  Women still receive less pay than men.  Patriarchal societies still exist.  Ignorance apparently for some people is "bliss."  When a government feels threatened and wants to "control" the populace, it generally does three things: burns all books, closes all the churches, and bans all the guns.  The Nigerian government must feel threatened to permit such a travesty of justice and permit common thugs to kidnap children from their beds.  I think it's high time part of the curriculum be self defense courses.  I commend the girls who escaped and pray fervently for those still held captive.  Hopefully signing the petition will help but I believe a more united effort on the part of ALL countries is necessary.  Whatever happened to NATO?  UNICEF?  Save the Children?  Right now I'd settle for Captain America and the whole Marvel Universe!  We have to stand united - "In unity there is strength" and it'sgoing to take a great show of strength to whip these terrorists into shape.

This is such horrific act of terrorism; on innocent young girls.  Having a daughter and an 11 yr old granddaughter I shiver thinking of it.  So, I too have sent an email to my senator in NY.  I pray they get those girls home to their families.  Thank you for your being an activist on the behalf of women and girls throughout the world.  YOU ROCK MICHAEL BOLTON!
