Hi all, I’ve tried but can’t seem to be able to upload sound files on this page, so I’ll put YouTube links to the songs in my music boxes, either as music boxes or songs, in case you’d like to hear them. I’ll start with the ones that may not be known to everyone, but if someone  doesn’t know a title I’ve mentioned, let me know. All my music boxes have 18 note movements in them, the smallest standard size ones, but here’s “All I ask of you” with a 30 note movement:

Always (I’ll be loving you)

Mine sounds a lot better though... Now here’s “Talk to the animals:

That one sounds exactly like mine though! There you go guys, enjoy! Sincerely, Sylvie :D

All right guys, last one for today. This one started with the tiny little figurine my husband found on the floor of a store one day. Disney's "Sleeping Beauty" has always been one of my favorites as a child. I found the "Once upon a dream" movement on EBay and thought that since the figurine was so small, I needed to show it off. I kind of had a staircase image in mind at first and I guess the layers have a similar effect. I thought a cushion would be perfect for a display and had to screw the plastic figurine on a tiny wooden base for it to be steady and so I could cover it up better. I thought the flowered arch would simulate height, while still being decorative. I used the colors I remembered from the movie. Some people have mentionned it kind of looks like a cake and I guess it does... :D I have made a display for my wedding cake topper too and got a cute idea for this one, which I hope to upload in the future. I just need someone to take pictures. So there you go friends, thanks again for your interest. sincerely, Sylvie :D

Well guys, I'm on a roll so I'll upload and comment on the other 2 my son has put on my page. First, the Dr Dolittle one. This idea started with the "Talk to the animals" music box movement I found on EBay: my biggest source of music box movements. It comes from the 1968 movie with Rex Harrison, which was a favorite of mine as a child . I first thought of making a "Pushme-Pullme" but didn't know how I'd handle the faces, so thought a cartoon version of the giant snail might work better. For those who have seen the movie, you know that Dr Dolittle was on a quest throughout the movie to find this poor ailing snail. :D I also found an original Dr Dolittle 1968 figure with Pollynesia the parrot, so that was perfect. The music movement is buried in a wooden box underneath all that material. I wanted a coral effect with the pink and peach and a sea-watery effect with the blue and green tray it's resting on, hope I've succeeded! :D FYI, I drive my family crazy with describing colors... Thank you again for your attention. Please let me know if the pics are okay, because I have no concept of settings like: left, right, width, pixels and such. sincerely, Sylvie :D

OMG, I did it! lol Let me try with another one.

Okay, these 2 are the front and back of a music box I made for my favorite soprano Marie-Josée Lord and hope to give it to her one day. I was fortunate enough to meet her last year and let her know how much I appreciated her art and since she thanked me for it with her autograph, I thought I'd show her my own art. The theme is the love of music and the music in it is "Imagine" by John Lennon. The flower design is mine and has been very popular with everyone who's seen it. I have yet to make one for myself! lol Hope you like it. Thank you for caring. sincerely, Sylvie :D

Hi Kathy, I will try this again: I can't see it either! lol On other people's pages, their blogs are higher on the page, so I thought I'd accidentally deleted it. Let me try and upload the  picture I described. Wish me luck! thanks for your message and interest sweetie. Big hugs, sincerely, Sylvie :D

Hi friends, the first picture I’ve (hopefully) uploaded to this blog is of 3 of my earlier music boxes. The white one plays “All I ask of you” from “Phantom of the opera”. The box represents my artistic view of Christine’s dress, because I thought the shape of the box kind of felt like a headless bust. The white pearls were on the trim I bought and sewed on, but the see-through ones were sewn individually. If you can see the bows on the sides, they were made and sewn on top of each other and I added the beeds to those too. The red rose and black ribbon, of course, represents the gift from the Phantom.

The black music box plays “Strangers in the night”. Again, an artistic view of the sky, with the lower part being dark blue. On each side, various colored stars represent the colors of the sky as the sun sets. The top comets/ shooting stars have crossing trails, as if the strangers crossed each other’s paths but looked back, to form the heart shape.

The mostly green basket-shaped one plays “Always”. The braids were all braided and sewn on individually and the few beeds were strung through. I got the idea in a thrift shop. Hubby found a music box of a boy holding an apple crate. I didn’t like the figurine but when I heard the music for the first time, it got me teary-eyed so I thought I’d look for it elsewhere. The basket was a pretty alternative to a crate and since I love Grannysmith apples, I’d make it green!

I would have wanted to upload wave files of what they play, but blogs apparently don't have that option, sorry. Thank you all very much for even checking my blog, I appreciate it. :D Take care and hugs to all, sincerely, Sylvie <3
