Hi everyone, this blog will be an attempt to keep my friends and other site lurkers updated on what’s been going on in our little MB world. I only want to write about newsworthy items relevant to his career and life when it’s appropriate. The main reason I’m doing it is to stop repeating myself and stop having to search for previous posts. Since I’m on the site on a regular basis, I thought it would be helpful. :D Take care and hugs to all, sincerely, Sylvie :D

Hi everyone, I’m correcting and adding to yesterday’s post. First, the record company issuing the “Fathers and daughters” soundtrack is Lakeshore and not Lakeside. Sylvia confused me by changing the name in her post and I foolishly followed. As Obiwan Kenobi would say: “Who is the more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows it?” and you got your answer. XD  So the update is that the soundtrack is now available on Itunes in the U.S. and, to excuse my foolishness, here is our Michael singing “Close to you” from the movie soundtrack of “Fathers and daughters”, link provided by Sylvia:

https://youtu.be/S-VCN5WIX4A

How adorable is that, if you know he’d be singing this to his daughter? That’s a very sweet song and Michael is singing very sweetly, while showing us he’s still got the right stuff... Pardon the space-related quotes... XD  Well that’s the news for now, thanks for reading and may the Force be with you, sincerely, Sylvie :D

Hi everyone,  well today is the day the "Fathers and daughters" digital soundtrack is released, at least on Amazon. Sylvia shared this article on the premiere of the video/theme song:

Michael Bolton Returns With the Theme Song From 'Fathers & Daughters' Film: Exclusive Video Premiere

By Luis Polanco | October 23, 2015 9:50 AM EDT

Michael Bolton

 Andrew Macpherson

Fathers & Daughters, a film about the relationship between a dad and daughter -- played by Russell Crowe and Amanda Seyfried-- separated through time, features an original track from Michael Bolton on its soundtrack. Bolton’s ballad, which shares its title with the film, is his first release since 2011.

Watch Michael Bolton Sing a Love-Hate Song to the IRS on 'John Oliver'

Lyrically, the song is expressive of the film’s core themes. Bolton said of the film and his contribution, ”I was invited to an early private screening of Fathers & Daughters, and found myself moved to tears. As a father of three daughters myself, I was compelled to write and record what I felt was an emotionally honest expression to my own daughters. This title song, which I co-wrote with Emanuel Kiriakou and Evan Bogart, is imagined as a letter from Russell Crowe’s character (whose brilliant performance is akin to A Beautiful Mind) to his daughter, played perfectly by Amanda Seyfried. The context and relevance of the song is very specific to the intense circumstances of the film’s story, but carries a heartfelt universal sentiment that I believe is going to resonate with fathers and daughters most powerfully."

Watch the exclusive premiere of Michael Bolton’s “Fathers & Daughters” lyric video below.

Fathers & Daughters will be in theaters soon. The Fathers & Daughters -- Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is available digitally today.

Of course, it's absolutely gorgeous and I have to say: hearing Michael singing a new song always gets to me, whatever the lyric content, but oh what a sweet song, enjoy! Sylvia says there's supposed to be a physical CD release, I think she gets this from Lakeside Records, but it may take a while since the movie has yet to be released worldwide, though it was in Japan and Italy, earlier this month. That's the news for now, thanks for reading, sincerely, Sylvie :D

Hi again everyone, as mentioned earlier, Michael was on the Chris Evans radio show this morning. It was apparently  a fun interview where Michael talked about his early struggles to succeed in the music business and how that didn't happen until he was 34, how he's been touring the world and recording ever since. Chris has commented on how young he looks, and Michael has attributed this to vegetarianism and working out four days a week, not cosmetic surgery. Michael also joined in on the chorus of a live version of the Bon Jovi song “Living on a prayr” with Scouting For Girls and here’s a piece of it:

Hope you can all hear it. The report on the show is thanks to Margaret in Kent and Sylvia said he was in the studio on and off for about 45 minutes, so I do hope we get the link to the show. I’ll keep you posted. That’s the news for now, thanks for reading, sincerely, Sylvie :D

Hi everyone, Sylvia found an interview aired today, but I think it was recorded September 29, because Michael mentions being in Toronto 3 days earlier. Now this is a podcast and Michael’s in the middle of it. His part is about 11 minutes long, but I fast-forwarded to get to his interview. Here’s the link:

BTW, the audio comes on right away and you can download it since it’s a podcast. The hosts do talk about “Gotta keep dreamin’” after Michael’s interview, but I’ll listen to it another day. That’s the news for now, thanks for reading, sincerely, Sylvie :D

Hi all, here's a lovely article Sylvia found about Michael's work with MBC followed by the artist profile from the same site, enjoy!

A Singer-Songwriter Focuses His Philanthropy on At-Risk Women and Children

Ade Adeniji

The singer-songwriter Michael Bolton is worth $60 million, according to some estimates, a fortune he's amassed through singing and writing hits such as "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You." Bolton has since sold more than 53 million records, and more recently has appeared on shows such as Dancing with the Stars.

Bolton's philanthropic vehicle, Michael Bolton Charities, has been around since 1993, and has disbursed over $10 million to benefit more than 100 organizations in cities and communities across the country. Michael Bolton Charities focuses on two areas, according to its website:

■The assistance of children and women at risk

■Creating social awareness to broaden horizons and expand opportunities for youth across socioeconomics and multicultural lines.

The charity began with a group of volunteers building a playground in New Haven, where Bolton was born. The group wanted to provide a safe place for disadvantaged children to play outdoors. Since then, Bolton has been a strong advocate for women and children. In the mid-1990s, he lobbied Congress to pass the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), and went to D.C. a few years ago to make sure that the law was reauthorized. Bolton has also penned blogs on the subject.

Unlike some of the glitzy givers we've written about, Michael Bolton Charities has an active website with clear guidelines, though we should mention that proposals are made by invitation only.

Recent money has gone to outfits such as Yoga Blue in Ojai, California. Programming at Yoga Blue includes classes at a treatment center where women coping with issues such as "domestic violence, substance abuse and mental health challenges can put their lives back on track." Other grantees in this area include Domestic Violence Services of Greater New Haven, Children's Advocacy Center, Prevent Child Abuse America, Yale Child Study Center, and Nevada Council for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, among others.

Apart from this work, Bolton has also supported veterans. One recent grantee is Work Vessels for Veterans, which "matches donations of equipment and vessels to returning vets to start their own businesses." In the past, grants have also gone towards Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research Program in Los Angeles, and St. Jude's Children's Hospital, among others.

This fall, Michael Bolton Charities will be launching a "one of a kind music therapy program" in a school for troubled youth and in a domestic violence shelter. Looking ahead to 2016, Bolton intends to bring the Family Justice Center (FJC) to his hometown of New Haven. The FJC is a one-stop center for domestic violence victims and their families, and is modeled after the hugely successful Brooklyn FJC, which Bolton has supported since it opened its doors in 2006.

It's also possible that Bolton gives away money separately from his formal charitable vehicle.

The FJC is a one-stop center for domestic violence victims and their families, and is modeled after the hugely successful Brooklyn FJC, which Bolton has supported since it launched in 2006. It's also worth noting that in addition to Michael Bolton Charities, Bolton might have other more direct ways of giving.
