Hi everyone, this blog will be an attempt to keep my friends and other site lurkers updated on what’s been going on in our little MB world. I only want to write about newsworthy items relevant to his career and life when it’s appropriate. The main reason I’m doing it is to stop repeating myself and stop having to search for previous posts. Since I’m on the site on a regular basis, I thought it would be helpful. :D Take care and hugs to all, sincerely, Sylvie :D

Just scroll down and click on the "Play video" button. BTW, I think we had the info too late. For my part, on the East Coast, the show comes on at 12:30 a.m., so it must have played yesterday, Wednesday morning. That's the news for now, thanks for reading, sincerely, Sylvie :D

Michael Bolton has the best response to people hooking up to his music, suggests ideal track
By Britt Middleton • 11 hours ago
From new music to acting gigs, Michael Bolton explains why now's the best time in his career.
The man with the silky-smooth voice, Michael Bolton is fully aware of his reputation as the musician whose music you play when you want to "get it on" with that special someone.
"The funniest thing was the first time a journalist asked me how I feel knowing that children are being conceived listening to my music. I blushed and I was uncomfortable and then I realized, of course, I should have thought of that. It's what people do," the icon said in an exclusive interview with TheFIX in Los Angeles.
And if you're wondering which song he suggests to do the deed: "Probably, historically, it's 'When a Man Loves a Woman'. It's not something I wrote, but I wouldn't suggest 'How am I Supposed to Live Without You' for the mood," he mused.
His music's love-making powers was the subject of his recent comedy special for Netflix, Michael Bolton's Big Sexy Valentine's Day Special. In it, he's tasked by Santa Claus to host a telethon and perform so well that it creates 75,000 pregnancies, all because old Saint Nick made a surplus of gifts this year. Nope, we couldn't make this up if we wanted to.
But in all seriousness, the 64-year-old singer is totally cool with exploring his irreverent side and doesn't take himself too seriously these days. It started with "Jack Sparrow", his viral hit with The Lonely Island from 2011, which has more than 165 million views on YouTube to date. He says he and Lonely Island creators Akiva Schaffer, Andy Samberg, and Jorma Taccone still get together to celebrate each time it racks up another 50 million views.

We laugh about it all the time," said Michael.
There's even more comedy acting gigs for him on the horizon, including a forthcoming cameo on ABC's Fresh Off the Boat.
"It is a lot of fun right now," he said. "It's more fun in a lot of ways because as much as I love touring, and I believe I always will, singing live is still the first passion. But comedy and laughter have always been so important to me. And now I have permission, because of The Lonely Island guys coming to me and pitching the Jack Sparrow concept."
Last month, Michael released his 27th album, Songs of Cinema, an ode to the world's most iconic films. The 10-track collection includes the hits "As Time Goes By" from Casablanca, "Old Time Rock and Roll" from Risky Business, and a duet with Dolly Parton of "I Will Always Love You" from The Bodyguard. He even did a new rendition of "Jack Sparrow", of course inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean.
A long time lover of films, Michael explained why this new album was a perfect fit.
"I love the whole body of music. It's music that we all love from movies that we pretty much all love," said the legendary singer, who has sold more than 65 million albums and singles worldwide over the course of three decades in music.
"I love singing the range of it...the duet with Dolly Parton for 'I Will Always Love You'," he said about his favourite part of the recording process. "Now, that makes me look forward to the opportunity to sing it live on the right show together."
Michael's new album, Songs of Cinema, is available for purchase now.

The season finale of Fresh Off the Boat is a two-part extravaganza titled “This Is Us” and “This Isn’t Us,” but for now you can just call it Fresh Off the Bolton.
The season 3 finale of the ABC family comedy will feature Michael Bolton as a guest star — and a possible business partner for the Huangs, EW has learned.
The Grammy-winning, multi-platinum-selling singer will appear as himself in the two-part season finale that is slated to air in early May. As you will come to learn, Bolton must be in Orlando 183 days of the year’s 365 days for tax reasons. And now, aiming to expand his investment empire, he approaches Louis (Randall Park) about buying a stake in the restaurant.
Bolton’s recent pop-culture credits include Two and a Half Men, Glee, and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. Last month on Netflix, he headlined Michael Bolton’s Big, Sex Valentine’s Day Special.
Fresh Off the Boat airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.

Hi everyone, this is an article Sylvia just posted:
Michael Bolton’s Fight Against Domestic Violence | New York Minute Magazine
March 16, 2017
Jenna Salisburry
The virtually ageless Michael Bolton, known for his hit ’80s pop songs, is also an Anti-Violence Against Women activist. Through his organization, The Michael Bolton Charities, Bolton works to defend the safety of women and children within their own homes and to support multiple foundations that save women from domestic violence. Additionally, Bolton has attended various rallies in Washington, D.C. to raise both awareness and support of the effort to end domestic violence against women.
Millennials may recognize Bolton from parody band The Lonely Island’s viral hit, “Jack Sparrow“, in which he portrayed a satirized version of himself. The video garnered over 164 million views on YouTube. However, fans may not be aware of Bolton’s extensive work in fighting and preventing domestic violence. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV), one in four women and one in seven men have suffered severe physical violence inflicted by a spouse or partner, with women between the ages of 18-24 being the primary and most common victims.
Prompted by his role as the father of three daughters and grandfather of two granddaughters, Bolton became incredibly dedicated to the cause that affects so many young women, girls, and families every day. During the 2015 National Organization for Women rally in Washington, Bolton appealed to Congress, asking them to reauthorize the anti-domestic violence law, Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). Bolton himself had been a full proponent and lobbyist for the act when it was originally passed in the mid ’90s.
In 1993, Bolton founded and launched The Michael Bolton Charities. Since its conception, the organization has worked towards offering aid to victims of domestic violence, particularly women and children. Partnering with like-minded coalition groups, The Michael Bolton Charities lobby for policies centered on protecting against and preventing domestic violence, spreading awareness, and educating others on the issue. The charities recently created a specialized music therapy program that will hopefully be installed in domestic violence confidential shelters to assist victims in coping with trauma and the aftermath of experiencing physical and emotional abuse.
Currently, Bolton is enacting plans to bring a Family Justice Center (FJC) to his hometown of New Haven, Connecticut. Family Justice Centers already have branches throughout New York, including locations in Manhattan, Bronx, and Staten Island. The project is set to be completed within the next year.
In addition to preventing domestic violence, Bolton’s non-profit also focuses on assisting underserved communities. In 2015, Bolton used $250,000 of his own money towards redefining the public’s ideas of inner city Detroit by creating a documentary that will bring Detroit into the forefront of the public eye in a positive and productive way.
Bolton’s charity program also gifts grants to organizations centered on family aid, such as New York City’s Meals on Wheels and other Domestic Violence Crisis Centers within the Connecticut and New York area.

Mushy love and sappy romance is synonymous with one soft rock balladeer: Michael Bolton.
With more than 53 million albums and singles sold worldwide and a career that spans over four decades, Bolton has become a household name in the pop rock genre. He and his signature raspy vocals will perform at Spotlight 29 Casino in Coachella Saturday, March 11.
Bolton said he is always conscious of performing what his fans want to hear – his greatest hits. Known for classic ballads, such as “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You,” “When a Man Loves a Woman” and “That’s What Love is All About,” the singer, who now has 27 albums in his catalog, said each of his songs has a special meaning behind them for him and his fans.
Because of this, Bolton said he understands the importance of performing the songs his audience knows, while at the same time, introducing new varieties to keep his concerts fresh.
“I often get messages and letters about certain songs that marked important moments in their lives and so they are coming to celebrate those experiences,” said Bolton, “I also like to introduce my audience to new musical genres and guests. Every time I record a new album, we incorporate a few of those songs into the set, so the repertoire is always evolving.”
For many longtime artists, staple songs tend to feel monotonous after years of performing them, but Bolton said his classics have their own unique story, which makes them extra valuable for him to perform.
“'How Am I Supposed to Live Without You’ is especially emotional for me because it was a song I wrote when I was a struggling artist, and when Laura Branigan’s recording made it to number one, that song changed my life and the life of my family,” said Bolton, “When I recorded it later and it went to number one again, earning me a Grammy, well, my career was off. Everything changed.”
Bolton’s 1991 Grammy Award-winning cover song “When a Man Loves a Woman” also holds a special place in his heart:
“It represented me standing up to my label, who didn’t want me to put the song on the album because of the Percy Sledge version that was still being played on the radio,” said Bolton, “But I went with my instinct, which was to pay homage to one of my heroes, stand up to the mic and give it all I had. That song became my second Grammy and my biggest hit.”
Bolton is very active on his social media, consistently posting photos and updates of his whereabouts on Twitter and Facebook, and even asking for feedback from his fans last year about what songs he should record for his new 10-track album, "Songs of Cinema," which features tributes to iconic movies. Songs include “As Time Goes By” from “Casablanca,” “I’ve Got a Woman” from “Ray,” and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from “The Wizard of Oz.”
“Social media has been amazing. At first I admit I was a bit skeptical and maybe surprised to see what fans wanted to hear or see, like me with my cup of coffee,” said Bolton, “But it’s really cool to be able to get their personal comments and also with my recent album ‘Songs of Cinema,’ to get their input in what they would like to listen to next.”
The album also features a duet of “I Will Always Love You” with Dolly Parton (from “The Bodyguard”), who Bolton said was especially an honor because she wrote the song. He has revealed a playful side to his career, like his ‘Saturday Night Live’ digital short with Lonely Island “Captain Jack Sparrow” – which is also featured on the new album – and the 2015 “Funny or Die” video where he pokes fun of himself as Michael Bolton on the movie “Office Space.”
And he's been all over Netflix with the new variety special “Michael Bolton’s Big Sexy Valentine’s Day Special,” which features the pop singer performing classic hits amongst a variety of sketches with popular comedians, including Lonely Island’s Andy Samberg and Jorma Taccone, Sarah Silverman, Fred Armisen, Maya Rudolph and Casey Wilson.
Although he has had fun with the comedy bits, Bolton said he stays focused with his music career, consistently writing and touring. Now 64, he said his best advice is “don’t ever give up” and his fans can expect “more music, more television, more comedy and more live performances” in the years to come.
