Hello everybody.   I'm a newbie to this forum, but not to being a huge fan of Michael.  I've been a fan for 19 years now :)  I love his origional pieces, but he is so darn good at covering the classics too.   I wish I could put a bug in his ear and have him record two of my favorite songs.  "Song to the Siren" by Tim Buckley, and " I Don't Need No Doctor" by Ray Charles.  That one would fit beautifully on his blues album waiting in the wings.  :)   Do any of you have a wish list for him to cover?       Payten

Hi Sylvie,

I was into heavy metal from 1983-2008.  I've been into jazz since 1986, when I discovered Kenny G.
As for other songs Michael could cover, I'm not too sure.  It took his interpretations of Frank Sinatra's songs some getting used to, but I did enjoy them.  Most of what I would like for him to cover, he has basically covered it already.

I would love Michael to cover the song "Endless Love". It would be fantastic a duet with Céline Dion...

Hi there,

to complete his homage for M.L. King and his wife - I'm sure you know about his tribute to Coretta Scott King/The courage in your eyes - I would love to hear him sing "Up to the mountain".

Something completely different would suit him too - I'm convinced - :
"Cry to me"!

Astrid

Hi Astrid, ooh, I’m glad you found this thread again! I didn’t know the song “up to the mountain”, yeah girl, that works for me! Oh my, do you mean Solomon Burke’s “Cry to me”:

Hmm-hmm, I approve! :D I think someone else has suggested it, along with a great deal of sould classics, good choice Astrid, thanks for sharing. I only found the Kelly Clarkson version of “Up to the mountain” and although it was very nice, I’ll try to find it with a male voice, thanks again for sharing! Take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Hi Sylvie,

there is Solomon Burke's Version of "Up to the montain" on youtube, along with Patty Griffin who wrote the song. He seems to be the only male singer singing this song up to now - as far as I know.

Patty Griffin.

I love Susan Boyle's version too - I own her CD -, but it is not available on german youtube anymore.

And there is a terrific version with Kelly and Reba.

Cry to me -yes I meant Solomon Burke (just love that love-scene in Dirty Dancing - to me one of the most beautiful and most erotic love scenes of all times) and this was my connection between the two songs.

Big hug

Astrid

PS Sylvie,

since I don't know when you lost your sight and if you had no chance to see the movie I would love to describe for you what happened while "cry to me" has been played  - but I prefer sending an Email lol!

Astrid

Hey Astrid, you’re such a doll! Well I’ve checked out your links and I was impressed with each version in their own right. I love Solomon’s passage into his lower register and I even checked out Susan Boyle’s version: it’s nice with the choir. That’s one song that would have been wonderful by Mahalia Jackson… A gospel/inspirational album works for me… :D And as far as the description goes, anytime girl! I wore glasses at an early age sweetie, but they were useless by the time I finished high-school so it’s extremely hard to tell how much detail I ever saw. Thank you for the offer Astrid, I love that movie! That reminds me, try checking  the “off topic” section, there’s a thread about favorite movies. No, sorry, I don’t have the link! Lol Take care Astrid for sharing and for your  links. Take care sweetie. Big hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

I would love for Michael to do Total eclipse of the heart by Bonnie tyler

How about Aerosmith  "Dont wanna miss a thing".

Michael could really do justice to this amazing ballad.

Love Jennifer XX

I've long had a hankering to hear him perform "Suspicious Minds", not sure quite why - maybe it's the line "Because I love you too much, baby..." Sigh,,,,,

Hi everyone, I know I’m resurrecting an old thread, but I was doddling on YouTube and found this version of “You’ve got a friend” by Donny Hathaway:

Now that’s the way this song should be sung! Carol King is just a great songwriter and her songs can be done so many different ways. My 2 cents for the day, enjoy! Take care and hugs to all, sincerely, Sylvie from canada

Thanks for the link back in here Sylvie and definitely the e-mail notification that you had been in here on 23rd April has never arrived BUT that was the Monday all went wrong...so.....!!! lol.

Do like very much that version of "You've Got A Friend" and thanks for link to it !! :)

Had a quick scan through this thread and amazing how much stuff has been removed....each to their own !!! :)    I can and do remember popping in here and reading posts entered during 2011 but never contributed as the list for me is endless but as there has been the hint of "Motown" for the new CD, for me, it truly doesn't matter which, each and everyone is great and even it is just motownish sounding I will be more than delighted with and as I said on the other thread, without doubt, if Michael has covered Jimmy Ruffin's "What Becomes of the Broken Hearted" a little bit of heaven on earth will surround me !! :)    Just to add another little personal thing is that I wouldn't mind hearing Michael cover some Jacques Brel songs and then of course we could go on to Mario Lanzo and then to Paul Robeson and then to and then to.......................................list is endless !!! :)

Sylvia.   Your wee Scottish friend.
