Could anyone tell me if michael bolton ever sang.     A house is not a home.    And if so, was it ever recorded on an album ?

Hi Shaun and welcome to the forum. To answer your question, no, Michael hasn't recorded that song on any of his official albums. Now I don't know if he could have sung backups on someone else's version in his early days, but not to my knowledge. Have you heard this somewhere or were you just curious? Well anyway, hope that helps and hope you enjoy the forum here as much as we all do, take care. sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Thank you for your reply, I was just asking on behalf of my dad who is determined that he once purchased a michael bolton cassette that he has since forgotten where he has put it or lost it. And he swears that on the one side there was georgia on my mind plus two other tracks and when he turned it over there was a song called a house is still a house (even if there is no one living there) along with a further two tracks. It could not have been a complete album due to the amount of tracks, he seem to recall that michael bolton had his hair long and in a pony tail on the cover of the cassette. He swears black is white that he had this cassette, and does not take being wrong well. But i think he may be mistaken.

Regards

Shaun

Wow, I can understand your dad's feelings because I don't take being wrong well either! lol Now if "Georgia" was on what seems to be a cassette single, it would mean that it would be off the "Soul provider" album but there's no such song on it. Could it be possible that your dad's cassette could have been a compilation of several artists or a soundtrack?

Maybe you could have your dad check this page:

That’s where the discography is and maybe he could find what he’s looking for. Good luck! Sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Thanks for your help Sylvie. I have checked all the albums on the discography page track by track, but like you said there is no such song. I think hes just going to have to accept hes wrong. If you do happen to come across it any time, please drop me a line, Thank you for your help and time.

Regards

Shaun

Hi Shaun,

From the sound of it your Dad purchased the single of Georgia, which features MB in a white suit and pony tail on the front cover (it's a lime green cover). The single was released b/w Take A Look At My Face, That's What Love Is All About (Live) and (Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay (Lightnin Bolton 7" remix with Jocelyn Brown).

He has definitely never recorded House Is Not A Home, nor sung it to my knowledge. The above songs definitely aren't any where close to this track either. Could it be a singles mix that your Dad bought and other artists were on the cassette, as I know Luther Vandross recorded and released a version of this song at the time MB released Georgia?

Hope this helps!

Best,

James

My pleasure Shaun, take care. :D sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

My question is did Michael ever appear with Whitney Houston?  I was sure I saw a video but I could have been wrong.

Hi Gwen, to my knowledge, Michael had never sung with Whitney and he has said in interviews that she was on his duet wish list. Michael has sung with a ton of people, but I'm thinking the video you might have seen could have been his duet with Patti Labelle:

They sang a Motown medley on the “Motown 25” anniversary show. I hope that helps Gwen, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Thanks Sylvie.  I know what one you were talking about.  I am sure he would have if he could have.  Thanks for the reply.  Hugs back, Gwen

I've been thinking about your question Shaun and I have this sneaky suspicion that although Sylvie has already answered your question that Michael didn't sing the song in your question, I have this very strong feeling that he has sings a song that has really similar lyrics?

For the life of me I cant blooming well recall what that song is, but I just have this feeling that the lyrics are similar which may have made your Dad believe that it was the same song.

Can anyone one help me out here as I'm going mad trying to think of the song that I think I mean?

Jennifer

.

Hey Jennifer, when I responded to Shaun, I was thinking only of a title, but if we try to think of similar lyrics, there is the song “Ain’t no sunshine” that goes:

“Ain't no sunshine when she's gone

It's not warm when she's away

Ain't no sunshine when she's gone

And she’s always gone too long anytime she goes away

Wonder this time where she's gone

Wonder if she's gone to stay

Ain't no sunshine when she's gone

And this house just ain't no home

Anytime she goes away (anytime she goes away)”

Man I love what Michael did with this song! Well anyway, the only thing is that if Shaun says Michael had long hair, it was before 1997 and “Ain’t no sunshine” was on “Timeless the classics 2” which was released in ’99. That’s all I can think about right now. Hope that helps your memory Jen! :D Take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

There gave been some pictures of Michael and Whitney over the years where they have met a different functions but they have never performed publicly together. One of those pictures was posted on this forum about a week ago http://www.michaelbolton.com/forum/topics/whitney-houston
