I want to see him in Germany too! Would be my first Michael Bolton concert and can't wait to see and feel him live!

I think Berlin would be very nicee! I come from Rostock, north germany, but we haven't got big theatres. C'mon, please !!

Hi Christin, Michael was in Stuttgart, Berlin and Dresdin last year and did some TV promotion, aside from taking part in a few Helene Fischer concerts and he's said in interviews that he would return this year, so you should keep an eye on the "events" section of this site. Ich liebe die Musik von Michael Bolton und hoffe, dass er es schafft dieses Jahr mehrere Konzerte in Deutschland zu geben. Es ist zwar schade, dass er so wenig Werbung für sich in Deutschland macht, aber es gibt nun einmal auch Musiker, die nicht so sehr auf Erfolg und Aufmerksamkeit aus sind (auch wenn es heute schwer zu glauben ist. Viele wollen ja nur einen Number 1 Hit nach dem nächsten landen).

Meiner Ansicht nach ist er etwas ganz Besonderes, da er Musik macht, weil er Spaß daran hat und diesen Spaß mit den Menschen teilen möchte. Es liegt ihm wahrscheinlich nicht viel daran die meisten Fans zu haben. Und das ist auch gut so! Lieber wenige treue Fans, als hunderte die so bald wie möglich zum nächstbesten anderen Musiker wechseln.

Andererseits sind auf dem Album "One World one love" viele frische Songs drauf, wie Survivor. Ich glaube, würde man Radiosendern oder anderen solche Songs vorspielen, würden sie vielleicht dieses eingeprägte Bild eines Balladen-Königs vergessen und sich ihm wieder öffnen.

Allerdings geht die Musik der 2000er eher in Richtung Techno und solange er sich nicht in diese Richtung bemüht, wird es schwierig sein einen Auftritt bei beispielsweise MTV zu haben.

Dennoch: Ich freue mcih zwar immer wieder zu hören, dass Michael Bolton neue Musikrichtungen ausprobiert, aber er soll bitte nicht zu einem dieser Techno Freaks werden, die nur noch auf Beat und nicht mehr auf Stimme setzen. Sowas ist für mich keine Musik, ohne jemanden damit zu nahe treten zu wollen.

Hi girls, well I do know that we do have some fans in their 20’s on this site and 2 fans I know are teenagers so it’s very possible that there are more. I agree with you Christine about certain older artists being overplayed on the radio, regardless of their present success: we don’t know why, but that’s radio for you... Funny enough, I hear Michael more on my digital cable TV music channels than on radio. Of course, he’ll never play enough for my taste anyway! Hallo German fans, my translating web site isn't very good, but from what I understand, you think there's not enough advertizing  for Michael's concerts or somewhere he can be played so more people get to know about him and that is a shame. I have to say though that the advertizing, from what fans have been saying, is not much better anywhere else in the world unfortunately. I'm afraid that the best you can do to hear Michael on the radio is to do what Christine has been doing and request him at least on the radio or make suggestions to TV programs where you think his music would fit. Michael said in an interview that he was going back to Germany this year, so maybe, it would be a good idea to let media know that Michael is planning a tour so they'd have time to invite and schedule him in. Hi Lady Berlin,  I think Christine was trying to say that Michael should record whatever he wants and not try to cater specifically to a younger audience and what they may like. In the past 4 or 5 years, Michael seems to have gained a bit of extra edge to his career, I think, because he’s had the opportunity to work with younger, very focussed new artists and it’s inspiring to him. He’s not doing it  to attract a younger audience, I think it’s just a lucky coincidence... :D Correct me if I’m wrong Christine! :D Take care girls and hugs to all, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Hi Lady Berlin, I gave some thought to what you wrote yesterday and how can the under 30 demographic know about him if he’s not presented to them.  Well, I don’t know how it works in Germany, but I’ve heard someone explain on the radio once, here in Canada, when new music is sent to radio stations, a group of chosen people will decide if they’ll put it on the air. If they don’t think people will listen or that it won’t attract sponsors or whatever, they won’t play it. I understand what you’re saying and it’s a delicate situation. You see, it’s really a shame, but Michael has said in an interview in 2002 that he and his label Jive at the time delivered his CD “Only a woman like you”, to adult contemporary radio stations, because that’s where his market and fan base are. When Michael gained worldwide popularity in the early 90’s, he was known as a balladeer, because he’d had success with his ballads. Not many people knew back then that he had done hard rock albums, just a few years prior. Now, it’s a generation later, but the name is still associated with “balladeer”. Even when Michael released One world one love” in 2009, both my husband and sister told me that “Murder my heart”, which Michael wrote with Lady Gaga was only played once on my AC station. You would have thought that since Gaga even sings backups on the song that it would have brought it more attention but it didn’t. I personally think  that it’s a lack of advertizing, because I’m sure that if more people had heard about it, that it would have been more popular and had more airplay. Of course, this is just my opinion. I know Michael is doing his part by appearing and performing on TV and radio shows, but he needs more advertizing of both his CD’s and his concerts, again, my opinion. One of the contributing factors to Michael’s new wave of public interest has been his “Jack Sparrow” video with the Lonely Island and most of us long-time fans were very happy that it did bring  a lot of people’s perception of him past his early 90’s “label”, but I don’t think Michael meant to do that. Anyway, I hope that answers your question Lady Berlin.

Hi Lady Berlin, well, here’s a question for you: how do you think Michael can achieve reaching intelligent people of your generation with his art? To answer your question, forgive me for finding the question funny, but no, I don’t understand the hype about the 2 ladies, because all I know about them is that Paris has money and Kim is apparently very pretty. That’s completely lost on me because I’m blind. Why those 2 are on TV I guess is because they have appeal to some people. Now here’s another question: does television that’s targeted to your generation have programs to satisfy the more selective viewer? If not, maybe a group of you should get together and let those television people know. Well, all I have to say is thank God for YouTube and I mean that sincerely.
