I am starting this thread solely because a friend of mine on FB sent me a message after having seen a post I have put out on my "Michael Bolton Around The World" page and said they had noted there was nothing in the website in particular referring to hurricane Sandy and they suggested that as this is MB's official website and my message was to him, his band, crew and staff why didn't I place it on here for those not on FB to see apart from possibly giving people the opportunity to express their own messages of support and care, in their own way, and so below is the exact message I posted on my page along with photo I also attached to it.

"A message to Michael, his band members, his crew and staff who, as the Asian Tour draws to a close, will be heading back home to the States and this goes especially to those whose families and friends have been affected by the devastation caused by hurricane Sandy:  below is a picture of part of the Great Wall of China, taken in Beijing, where you have just left, and as that Great Wall has stood and will stand the test of time, so will human resolve, courage and hope to overcome all the horrors that Sandy has wrecked on the East Coast of America and I wish you, as I am sure all the readers of this page do, the strength and belief in that resolve, courage and hope to see you through whatever lies before you as you arrive back home.   Take care and whatever God you hold dear in your heart may He be with you at this sad time, as are, our thoughts and prayers."

Below is a message placed on a comment in this thread and one that carries the message of partly what this thread is all about, which is my reason for bringing here to the description, and the words are from Joy and I ask anyone who wants to come in and share to please, please do so !!

Joy's message.......

(PLEASE anyone else from the East Coast that was hit by "Sandy" let us know how you made out.  I don't even know where some of you live. Let's talk about our experiences here.)

Michael has sent this personal message concerning hurricane Sandy.............................

"02 November 2012  It has been no less than heartbreaking for me to witness and know the deep pain and loss that is being experienced by so many families due to hurricane Sandy. I am planning on re-focusing current fund raising immediately and committed to try and best help with relief efforts for my beloved neighbors in my home state of CT, New York and New Jersey. We always pull together for each other in our times of crisis. I pray for the safety and recovery for all who have been hurt and are suffering any loss. - MB"

Hi to all!
Yes, I am OK! I spoke to Gloria in NY she is OK, but in the same shape as me. Cut off from the world, I just finally got power today, she still has none. I have to try to call Eileen Parr in NY, texted her but didn't hear back yet. I have been through a few hurricanes that were bad, this was by far the worst. I was really scared at one point. I am still in my home, the most damage was 5 feet of water in my basement. I lost my water heater, furnace, freezer etc. And I had no flood insurance, as I was not in a flood zone.  I still have no hot water or heat. But I am more fortunate than a lot of others. I will post more when I get some more spare time. Thank you for starting this thread Sylvia. Just wanted to pop on here real quick and let you know how much it means to me that you all were so worried about me and the other East Coasters. A few of you sent me pm's and emails. You guys are wonderful!
Love from Ravaged New Jersey,
Joy
(PLEASE anyone else from the East Coast that was hit by "Sandy" let us know how you made out.  I don't even know where some of you live. Let's talk about our experiences here.)

Thanks for coming on here Joy and sharing part of your story and when you want and need to come back on and share it all, do so, for as I have said in the Tour thread we are here, or possibly I should have said I am DEFINITELY here for you all and will be for as long as it takes the pain, shock and horror to not only start to subside but go completely.

I thank you too for putting in your message to everyone that was affected because no matter to what degree the horror and devastation has touched lifes, it has touched, and that fear and shock from the experience can take years to even start to disappear and I should like to feel that this little thread can give those, who may find themselves reliving their own horror, somewhere to come and share for the old adage is more than true that: "a problem shared is a problem halved !".   So please folks feel absolutely and utterly free to come in here and just talk and talk and talk all you need to and all you want to because there will be somebody who is listening and somebody who more than cares.

I am going to copy and paste your message Joy to the main section of this thread so that anyone coming on is in doubt why it is here.

Hey Joy,

I am sooooo glad to hear from you on here, I truly have been worried for your safety:)! Houses are replaceable...lives aren't! I hope everyone will post here as well...I hate these Storms! Hate seeing people lose everything they have worked soo hard for...my prayers are with All of you!

Mary (Meg's mom)!

I live in Central New Jerseyand had been withour power for 4 days. It was difficult because my husband is disabled & on oxygen  24/7. When power went out & all reserve oxygen supplies were used up we were able to reach his daughter who came & took us to her house. I pray for all who are suffering & know we are Jersey Strong! Also  heartbreakng was the loss of the boardwalk of Seaside Heights. My childhood was spent there. Now all we have is memories. Love to all who are suffering. Remember Jersey Strong!!!!!!

Thanks for coming in and sharing your story with us Darlene and am so glad to hear that things worked out for you and your husband for you must have gone through your own little bit of hell wondering just what was going to happen when that oxygen went and your relief must have known no bounds when you saw his daughter and so glad for you that someone was there to help and care.

It is tragic all that has gone, which meant so much to so many, but hey, remember, no one, not even hurricane Sandy, can take away your memories and right now, the good times that those memories bring back, are what you should think of and smile at !! :)

Take care Darlene and anytime you want to come in here just do so....please !! :)

Hi Darlene and since it's the first time I read your post, I want to welcome you to the forum. Thank you for coming in and sharing your experience and I'm glad everything worked out for you and your husband. I hope your friends and family are doing "as well" as you are. As herrendous as this must have felt, despite the devastation, you can still count your blessings. I can understand about the heartbreak of seeing part of your  childhood washed away, but I'm sure that what will come out of it will make new special memories. Girl, you ain't kidding about Jersey strong: this should be a new catch phraze! :D I'm sure the boardwalk will be rebuilt in time, it meant a lot to a lot of people. Well in the meantime, best to you and yours Darlene, God bless you sweetie. Big warm hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada :D

GLORIA

Hi Gloria, it’s great to hear from you sweetie! Oh I know what it’s like to be without power for a few days: remember the ice storm of January ’98? We had to sleep in the cold for a couple of days but were lucky enough that our neighbor had a woodburning stove. I remember the majority of New England was hit pretty hard back then too. Some people up North here lived in shelters and were without power for a month. I know that’s nothing if you compare it to this, because at least, they had homes to go back to. I’m really sorry to hear about your brother’s circumstances, but at least he and his family are safe and that’s the most important thing. I did hear Staten Island was hit very hard, my heart goes out to him... Sweetie, I can’t imagine how you’ve actually felt the storm on the 23rd floor! The internet we can do without for a few days but no cell phone service at all must be very unsettling. Well as you may know, we’ve heard from Joy, Diane McKane and Eileen too, but not sure about her friend Lee. I need to check on my friend Ray. We’ve kept in touch on the tour thread, but thanks a lot for posting here Gloria, hope everything is back to functional normal soon.  Take care sweetie, best wishes to you and your brother’s family, God bless you all, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Hi Gloria,

So very glad you are okay and so very sorry you are having to go through all of this, and your family. So sad about your brothers home and car but so glad you and they are all alive and unharmed.
I am going to contact the Red Cross here in Tulsa when I sign off and see what I can help contribute to up your way to help you folks now.

You hang in there, Gloria and prayers for you all.

Hugs,

Kathy T.

Hi Gloria and thanks so much for coming in and letting us know you are okay and glad too to hear that things are starting to return to a little bit of normality for you.....you always think when you are at work how lovely it would be to have an excuse for a holiday but when it is handed to you under the circumstances yours has been, you would rather work overtime, than be on holiday.   I cannot even start to imagine what it was like to walk up and down 23 flights but when needs must it is amazing what you will and can do.

So sorry to hear about your brother and his family and I hope it won't be too long before they start to see things starting to improve for them and that soon the whole experience will be nothing more than one horrible nightmare ......the material things of life can be repaired or replaced, no matter how much is lost, but life itself can't be so thank goodness they were able to get away to safety before it hit for certainly by reports coming over here Staten and Long Island really bore the brunt as well as NJ and if evacuation hadn't take place and been successful, the outcome is not worth thinking about.

Hope with each day that passes Gloria the light at the end of the tunnel continues to grow in strength and brightness as I hope it does for everyone affected !

Thanks for writing to tell us you are ok Gloria. I'm so sorry your family has suffered so much loss but you are all ok and that is the main thing..I had no power, water, etc.. for 8 days here in a hurricane 9 years ago in MD..We were able to cut or way out with chainsaws when trees blocked our lane and I had a horse to get water for every day in jugs from a local spring and we used that to manually flush toilets as well. We had nothing when the power went, lost all the food and stuff but..we were ok and thank God we had no property damage.  So I understand how you felt those 4 days to some degree..So glad you are ok.

Take care,

Robin in MD:)
