Hurricane Sandy

I am starting this thread solely because a friend of mine on FB sent me a message after having seen a post I have put out on my "Michael Bolton Around The World" page and said they had noted there was nothing in the website in particular referring to hurricane Sandy and they suggested that as this is MB's official website and my message was to him, his band, crew and staff why didn't I place it on here for those not on FB to see apart from possibly giving people the opportunity to express their own messages of support and care, in their own way, and so below is the exact message I posted on my page along with photo I also attached to it.

 

"A message to Michael, his band members, his crew and staff who, as the Asian Tour draws to a close, will be heading back home to the States and this goes especially to those whose families and friends have been affected by the devastation caused by hurricane Sandy:  below is a picture of part of the Great Wall of China, taken in Beijing, where you have just left, and as that Great Wall has stood and will stand the test of time, so will human resolve, courage and hope to overcome all the horrors that Sandy has wrecked on the East Coast of America and I wish you, as I am sure all the readers of this page do, the strength and belief in that resolve, courage and hope to see you through whatever lies before you as you arrive back home.   Take care and whatever God you hold dear in your heart may He be with you at this sad time, as are, our thoughts and prayers."

Below is a message placed on a comment in this thread and one that carries the message of partly what this thread is all about, which is my reason for bringing here to the description, and the words are from Joy and I ask anyone who wants to come in and share to please, please do so !!

Joy's message.......

 (PLEASE anyone else from the East Coast that was hit by "Sandy" let us know how you made out.  I don't even know where some of you live. Let's talk about our experiences here.)

Thanks for sharing and sorry so sorry for everything you have all had to go through, dear. Thank goodness you had a place to go where your husband could get his oxygen.

Thanks for posting you are ok Darlene.  So many people lost so much..It's s sad..You will always have your memories, no storm can take those away.

From one Jersy Girl to another! I know what you are going through.  I am fine and I still have my house, so I was lucky.

But very sad to so many others and our Jersey Shore will never be the same!

CT didn't get a direct hit, but the "backwash" since it was in the northeast quadrant of the storm.  NJ & NYC are in dreadful shape, but CT is coming back fairly well.  Lots of people still without power, phone, internet, and all that good stuff.  Haven't been by MB's house so no idea if he took a hit personally.  However, I ran into someone who lives about a block from him, and that whole neighborhood still has power knocked out and lines lying in the road (which is why I haven't driven a couple blocks "over the bridge" to see how it is!).  I (wisely, or would have been fried by downed lines right where I'd been staying) went to the Red Cross shelter in the local elem. school.  Met some nice people and rode out the storm with the Hurricane Party in fine form.  The Red Cross people are absolutely wonderful!  We had lots of elderly & disabled on oxygen, in wheelchairs, and all the rest, and Red Cross people took wonderful care of them.  Red Cross disaster relief teams are absolutely the best!  So I'm ok & MB's hometown is coming along pretty well.  People in this town are great & always pull together when there's trouble.  Cheers to all, Amie

Hey Amie, thanks for the CT report and keeping an eye on our Michael's house sweetie. Great to hear everyone was well taken care of and that you, yourself weren't affected. Glad everything okay with you Amie and have heard quite a bit of damage done right along the shoreline and as you say power outages and lines down and hope it isn't too long before some form of normality returns to those affected.

Stay safe and I have heard that there is the probability of another one coming in next weekend.....hope to goodness nothing like Sandy and hope it blows itself out before it hits land.    Take care !! :)

Thanks for sharing how things are up in CT Amie..Hoping this new NorEaster they are calling for this coming Wes/Thurs doesn't cause more problems on the coast here in MD or between us or up in CT..Thanks for the update on things around MB's home..So good to hear the Red Cross up in your area is doing such a wonderful job assisting everyone..Please take good care.

Below is a link to "What A Wonderful World" and it is sung by our very own Jason P. DeLaire and the piano is played by his Grandma Peterson and it is not taken from a performance on any stage, or any recording studio, but in what looks like a very warm and lovely home.  Jason has just put it out on FB from somewhere in CA and I, for one, am glad he did for it is a keeper and I feel it is more than appropriate to be on here and for us all to start to believe again that our world, is, a wonderful one !! :)   Thanks Jason and Grandma Peterson too !! :)

No this is not my home! I still have a home that is livable. But this is only about 15 minutes away from where I live and this house is 150 years old, it's withstood lots of storms.  "Sandy" finally did it in. So sad.....
It's all around me, lots of people I know lost everything. NJ is where I grew up, I am a Jersey Girl.  But it will never be the same.
I am OK, this has been very over whelming to deal with and I was lucky. I can't imagine how people are dealing with losing everything.....so sad. "Sandy" was a horrid storm, very scary to be in. My home had some minor damage, but mostly the basement filled to the top with river water. I lost a furnace, hot water heater, freezer full of food, electric box (actually my husband managed to dry that out) and of course lots of personal things kept in the basement. We were without power for about 5 days, without heat and hot water for over a week! We managed, taking showers at relatives homes, getting food from take out or relatives. We stayed in the cold house because every minute we needed to be there to pump out the water, keep an eye on things, and clean and save anything that was salvageable. It was about 50 degrees in the house and a bit less at night, but with lots of blankets we managed. Our town, relatives, neighbors were great as they were in the same shape as us. Everyone shared what they could. I am out of work for who knows how long, as my office was destroyed.  I will be going back once they restore power, water and phones.  But we are all ok and that's what matters the most.  Then last night we got hit again with a Nor'Easter snow storm! When will it end?
Thank you all for your pms and emails.  It meant a lot to me getting through this.

Can't think of any words to say Joy except thinking about you and obviously, wish to God it had never happened, BUT it did, and all I can wish you now is, that with each day that passes, things do get a little better !!! :)

Glad you & your family are ok, and that your house will be ok, too.  As a friend in NJ told me this a.m., he used to go ballistic at the slightest obstacle.  As of Sandy's departure, seeing what others are going through, he says, "Now if I wake up in good health with a roof still over my head, it is going to be a great day.  Now I understand 'attitude of gratitude.'  I woke up this morning healthy & with my roof intact, so it's going to be a great day today."

Hang tough, keep working together, keep praying for your job & community, and it's all gonna be ok.  Praying for you - Amie
