LA QUINTA, Calif. – Keeping with its rich tradition of bringing its fans a wide variety of stars from screen, studio and stadium, the Humana Challenge in partnership with the Clinton Foundation once again features a star-studded list of celebrities teeing off in the amateur field of the PGA TOUR event Jan. 14-20.

Headlining that list is talk-show host and former Coachella Valley radio personality Carson Daly (The Voice, Late Night With Carson Daly), actor Craig T. Nelson (Coach, Parenthood), comedian Ron White and multi-platinum award singer Michael Bolton"

This world-renowned singer has sold more than 53 millions albums and singles.  Known for his soulful voice and lyrics, he has been honored with a Grammy and an American Music Award.    For more than 20 years, Michael Bolton Charities has been an advocate for at-risk women and children, donating more than $3.7 million."

Little bit of "photographic licence" taken here as Humana had posted a picture of Michael at this point in their list of players but as I could not transfer over picture they had used I decided to use this very, very special picture of Michael kissing that ball after his hole-in-one on 8th May, 2012 and here is hoping the stars are "aligning again" for him and that he gets another hole-in-one during this competition !!! :)

 

Above announcement made by the Humana Challenge PGA Golf Tournament yesterday, 9th January, with regard to the Humana Challenge Golf Pro-Am Competition which will be held from 14th - 20th January, 2013 and at which you can see Michael has committed himself to play and as he generally takes part in the Bob Hope Legacy Pro-Am Competition this starts on Wednesday, 16th January with practice on the three courses starting at 8.30 a.m. with competition proper starting on Thursday, 17th January and running through until final on Sunday, 20th January.

MIchael will be playing from January 17 - 20 in the Pro Am.  It will be shown on the Golf Channel each of those days starting at 3 p.m. EST.  This event is the old Bob Hope event.

Thanks for correction Gail !! :)    I failed to notice that 16th is a practice day on the three courses for those taking part in the Bob Hope Legacy Competition for full schedule wasn't up when I had looked at only starting dates and times of both events..

Found this article to do with Tony Bennett kicking off the tournament at the La Quinta Country Club, La Quinta, by giving a performance on the Wednesday night to those invited to attend.   His attendance is mentioned in the official pages for Humana Challenge but thought this little article interesting enough to put on here !!

Singer Tony Bennett will headline the Humana Challenge’s “welcome party” on Wednesday, tournament organizers announced today.

The invitation-only event will be held at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio and is open to participants in the Couples and Bob Hope pro-ams, according to tournament organizers.

Bennett, a 17-time Grammy winner and two-time Emmy Award winner, has sold more than 50 million records.

“Mr. Bennett is a legendary performer whose great body of work has stood the test of time,” Humana Challenge Executive Director and CEO Bob Marra said. “We are proud to offer this very special event to thank our pro-am participants and get everyone excited for the first round of the tournament the next day.”

Celebrities competing in the tournament include television and radio host Carson Daly, singer Michael Bolton, rocker Alice Cooper, actor Craig T. Nelson, comedian Ron White and Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith.

Spots in both pro-ams still are available. The Couples Challenge Pro-Am will be played Monday on the Nicklaus Private Course, and the Bob Hope Legacy Pro-Am will be played Wednesday on the Palmer Private Course, both at PGA West in La Quinta.

Pros will play on both courses later in the week.

Hey Sylvia, thanks for the article, that was interesting. I was surprised to hear that Michael has sold more albums than Tony... Hi Folks and here is latest news about Michael's teeing off times .........

 

Thursday, 17th January on the La Quinta Course and teeing of on Tee #1  at a time of 10.00 a.m.   His partner for Thursday is Ricky Barnes.

 

Friday, 18th January on the Nicklaus Private Course and teeing of on Tee #10 at a time of 9.40 a.m.  His partner for Friday is Charles Howell III.

 

Saturday, 19th January on the Palmer Private Course and teeing of on Tee #1 at a time of 9.20 a.m.   His partner for Saturday is Brendan de Jonge.

 

Michael is playing off of a 12 handicap.

Absolutely wonderful news that I just have to share on here right now and it is that the scoreboard at the Pro-Am Comp is showing Michael has having gone through the 15th hole with a score of .......  -12 .......and he is in the lead in the amateur field and the amateur field contains approx 156 players.    His professional partner, Ricky Barnes, is lying in second place in the professional field with a score of -6.   "Magic Mike" is on a roll and here's hoping it continues !!!!! LOL    Will come back in when final scores have been posted !!
