Have a good and happy weekend

Hallo Brigitte, thanks for sharing this link. I had no idea who he was, his age etc so I looked him up. I agree with most people on that page who say his style is remoniscent of Josh Groban's. Being the son of Barbra Streisand, I didn't think he'd be singing hip-hop... :D In any case, nice song, nice voice, thanks for sharing Brigitte, take care and have a great weekend too. Thanks so much for commenting on this thread too! :D Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie Qc Canada :D

Hi all, I’d like to share a song from my favourite Canadian band today. The band’s name is Jacksoul. They haven’t released anything new in  a few years, because their lead singer had lost his battle with throat cancer some years ago. That  was really sad because there aren’t that many great soul artists in Canada and I loved this guy’s voice. Anyway, apparently, Sony Music Canada found some unreleased stuff from the proverbial vault and released this new/old song:

Jacksoul “Got to have it”:

This will be included as part of a new jacksoul Greatest Hits album being released later this year, along with a selection of other previously unreleased songs.  It’s so cool: it kind of reminds me of Pharrell! Well anyway, even though I have all their albums, I’ll be getting that one too. :D Hope you enjoy the song as much as I do. Take care and hugs to all, sincerely, Sylvie Qc Canada :D

Hi Sylvie!

Thanks for the link! I have also looked for other videos of Jacksoul and some found. The style of music I like very much!

You always have a really good taste in music! I looking forward to your next link!

I wish you a nice day!

Greetings Petra (Germany)

Hallo Petra, gee thanks! :D I'm just catching up late tonight, but I might have a new one to share when I can take the time. I'm really glad you like Jacksoul! Take good care Petra and thanks for the smile! Big hugs, sincerely, Sylvie Qc Canada :D

Hi everyone, today, I want to share a song I found in my YouTube recommendations.  It’s a song we all know, done in a very different way. Here’s Amos Lee with Madonna’s “Like a virgin”:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyaOivxqcdE

I think that sung in that way, by a man, brings a whole new dimension to it. Now here he is, with one of his own compositions, Amos Lee with “Arms of a woman”:

I hope you all enjoy. Take care and hugs to all, sincerely, Sylvie Qc Canada :D

Hi Sylvie! Again, a very good choice!

Amos Lee has a nice, emotional voice! It is the first time that I like the song "Like a Virgin", because I like neither Madonna as a person or as an artist.

Thank you for share Amos Lee with us!

Petra (Germany)

Hallo Petra, glad you enjoy it! If you like this style, you should check out his first selftitled album. My daughter showed it to me years ago and I find it very soothing and organic: the kind of music you feel like listening to when you have a headache... :D Anyway, you're very welcome, take care Petra. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie Qc Canada :D

Well, this song is currently the most part. It was played when Germany won the Soccer World Cup 2014 yesterday. Sylvie, here is the text in English. I hope, you can understand!?

To us

Who is freezing this moment for us
It can't be better than this.
Remember the days that are behind us
For how long we are already sharing joy and tears
Everybody goes through the fire for everybody here
We never stand alone in the rain.
And for as long as our hearts guide us
It will always be like this.

Here's to what lies ahead for us
That there will be the best for us
Here's to what unites us
To this time (to this time)

Here's to us (us)
To this life,
To this moment
That always stays
Here's to us (us)
To now and forever
To a day of infinity

We used to vow
We vowed eternal faithfulness
We gild this day for us
(One love)
A lifetime without regrets
From the first step to the grave.

Here's to what lies ahead for us
That there will be the best for us
Here's to what unites us
To this time (to this time)

Here's to us (us)
To this life,
To this moment
That always stays
Here's to us (us)
To now and forever
To a day of infinity (infinity)

Fireworks of endorphines
Fireworks are marching through the night.
So many lights stayed
A moment that is making us immortal (making us immortal)

Here's to what lies ahead for us
That there will be the best for us
Here's to what unites us
To this time (to this time)

Here's to us (us)
To this life,
To this moment
That always stays
Here's to us (us)
To now and forever
To a day of infinity

Here's to us
Fireworks of endorphines
Here's to us
Fireworks are marching through the world.
Here's to us
So many lights stayed
Here's to us

Petra (Germany)

Hallo Petra, well first, congratulations to the Germany team! I heard they hadn’t won the cup since 1990 so that’s wonderful! That’s almost like an “Impossible dream”:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2kn0Q3UHOc

Sorry, I couldn’t resist! :D This song was Belgian singer Jacques Brel’s version of the song “The impossible dream”. Since today  is a holliday for the French, I thought I’d throw it in... :D  Well now about your song: it’s a true champion song and it’s very cool: the music sounds great and could probably be a hit in America if it would be in English. Thanks so much for the lyric translation! :D

All right, now, I’ll share something French, new and one I’ve been meaning to share for a couple of weeks. My son-in-law is a big music fan too and he had me hear this guy called Christophe Maé. The song I picked is called  “Belle demoiselle”, which means “Pretty young lady”:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLZJ7exiqj4

I included a link with lyrics if you’d like to translate. :D I have to say that at first, I wasn’t crazy about his voice and  that hasn’t changed much, but I really love his style. To me, it’s fresh and it’s pure, without having to add layers and layers of production to his music. I checked him out on Wikipedia and he cites Stevie Wonder as his biggest influence, so that’s pretty good! :D  Listen to this one called “Je veux du Bonheur”, which means “I want happiness” and the link has lyrics too:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jz6B0Fp8Fzs

He generally has family oriented themes to his songs and he’s just nicely refreshing to me. I hope you enjoy at least one of these Petra. BTW, I discovered famous singer/songwriter Jacques Brel about a year ago and think he’s absolutely wonderful: he can be funny, irreverent or vulnerable and very moving. Well anyway, that’s it for now. Thanks again very much for sharing the song Petra, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie Qc Canada :D

Hi Sylvie. Thank you for your last post. I will listen the songs a few times, sure! This morning I had to laugh when I hear this song by Elvis Presley on the radio. His laugh is so refreshing! My day is saved! Your day also, Sylvie?

Petra (Germany)

Hallo Petra, Wow, you heard that on the radio? That’s so cool! Lol I remember this being in the “One night with you” acoustic concert. If I remember correctly, Elvis was sitting on a stool for most of the show. I actually saw this a loooooong time ago... His laugh is so sweet: he sounds like a little boy! :D Thanks for sharing this Petra. Well my day is just starting and yesterday ended with listening to this song:

Jason Mraz “Hello, you beautiful thing”:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMkWxjVv-hU

Jason Mraz was in Montreal on Monday, promoting his new CD called “Yes!” that was released yesterday. It’s a mellow, acoustic  CD and it’s like a breath of fresh air for your ears. :DFunny though that right after I heard it, I felt like listening to “Gems”, so I will today. Have a great day Petra and thanks again. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie Qc Canada :D
