Well gang....

For anyone who loves the hard rock/heavy metal sound of the 80's this show is for you!!!  My friend and I had a blast!!  Dee Snyder (from Twisted Sister) was great in his part, so was the rest of the cast and the band!!  And a few of the guys in the cast and band  are really cute...LOL!!  Forgot just how good looking a man with long hair can look....Luv it!!  The band really got the audience into the feel of the music...made you want to jump on stage and rock with them.  (No girls, didn't go on stage I was sitting in the balcony..LOL).  There were 2 songs from Styx (Renegade and Too much time on my hands), songs from REO Speedwagon, Journey, Sister Christian, Asia, etc...  Constatine (from American Idol) was not in it, since he is with the US tour of the show  (there is a Canadian tour as well).  The show had alot of laughs too and seeing the 80's costumes is really nostalgic.  I have to say that on some occasions I've been to a Broadway show and got a little bored with it, but not this one!!  A Great Show!!!  I treated myself to a t-shirt and got home around midnight.  Thank god it's Friday, I can sleep late...LOL!

Another note... for anyone who may visit New York in the future and would like to see a show....If this type of music is not your thing, the next best show to see is "Memphis".  I saw Memphis back in May and let me tell you....it deserved the Tony Award for Best Musical!!!!  Another fantastic show to see and also worth every penny!!!

Wishing all you rockers a nice weekend....     :)

Hugs,

Helena

Hi Helena and thanks for posting about your show! So it has 80's rock in it but can you tell us a bit more? I mean, is there some kind of plot or is it just a bonified nostalgia rock show? :D Men in long hair, hmmm... ... Girl, you should look up old MB T-shirts from the 90's on EBay... My kids have described some of my T-shirts and they sound quite yummy... lol Not that it changes anything to me, I just enjoy parading my fandom, even if it's just a logo. Well anyway, thanks again for sharing Helena, take care sweetie. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
Hi Sylvie,

The story takes place in Los Angeles, A girl name Sherry (the journey song, of course) leaves her small town and moves to LA to be an actress. A guy (forgot his name...damn!) is working in a night club hoping to be a famous singer. They eventually meet and become friends. One thing leads to another and the friendship turns to love, but they have ups and downs before becoming a couple. Dee Synder plays the owner of the club. It's a cute story with other characters, that eventually come togther with the two leads. They mix the songs to blend with the story.

Your shirts do sound nice! I would love a MB shirt, but hoping that they will sell Michael's merchandise on this web site sometime in the future, if I don't get to his Atlantic City concert next year. For now I like my Rock of Ages shirt and my Barry Manilow shirts (that I got from his web site, and I'm going to get his new calendar for next year!). Will write to you on your page...Hugs, Helena
I'm shocked Helena!! Not having a Michael Bolton calendar this year?? Oh Nooo!! Ha Ha!!

Seriously, I havent heard of hardly any of those artists that you mentioned before? Twisted Sister? Styx? Dee Snyder? Sister Christina? Asia? Nope none of those. I have heard of Journey though but ony becuase one of their songs has been sung just about everywhere just lately. Reo speedwagon rings a bell, but I couldnt tell you what they sang though.

I reckon, I must have spent most of the 80's asleep? Or with the radio tuned into another station? Dunno? Where have I been? Anyon? Ha Ha!!

Hey Jennifer, I’m shocked myself! And I thought you were a music connoisseur! Lol Well, depending on what type of radio station you were listening to in the 80’s, you might have heard some of the songs from the groups Helena enumerated. Like from Styx, you might have heard “Babe”:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FIOjLwwj-U
Twisted Sister’s most famous song, “We’re not gonna take it”:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xmckWVPRaI&ob=av2n
R.E.O.Speedwagon’s first hit “Keep on loving you”:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgT_mJXbvCQ
Asia’s “heat of the moment”:

BTW, good thing you’ve heard of Journey because Michael knows those guys and has worked with some members. Check out the liner notes from “The hunger” and “Soul provider” and you’ll find some of the members. But these are all American rock groups. If you were more into what they called the “second British invasion”, these groups might just have snuck by you… :D So now, this is where you tell us what you were listening to! Lol Take care Jen and hope you check out some of these. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
Oh you poor girl....should I call you sleeping beauty? LOL! Well like Sylvie said, these are mostly American artists, maybe they were not big in Europe back in the 80's...who knows? The links that Sylvie posted, do you recognize any of the songs? I have the 45 record of Babe and the Twisted Sister song. My brother has the Asia albulms and Journey records too. I have a CD of Journey's greatest hits.

This may sound like a dumb question, but is there a Michael Bolton calendar? Since they don't sell merchandise on this site, and I never been to Michael's concert, I would not know if they sell calendars!! I have this years Manilow calendar on my wall, right in front of my computer...so I though let me get the one for next year. Didn't order yet....I just ordered a small calendar for my office wall (it has beaches of the Carribean) and Michael's Christmas CD...This is the Time from Amazon. Like I told Sylvie... I got Orrin's CD in the mail Saturday, but didn't hear it yet...had a busy weekend. Will listen to it sometime this week...can't wait!

Hugs,
Helena
Hi Helena, in answer to your question about calendars, I think there's a fan here from Holland that has desk calendars on her web site, but can't think of her name right now. I believe she's friends with Jennifer. Also, maybe Gail can help, because I'm pretty sure that not too long ago, Gail took care of the American sales of the fan's calendars, diaries etc. Hope someone responds, good luck! Take care sweetie. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
Hi Sylvie, If Gail does sell any type of Merchandise like calendars, photo's...it would be nice to know. I would like a photo of Michael....I don't have any. Maybe I'll e-mail her....

Hugs,
Helena
Hya Helena,
The lady who makes the diaries and calendars is called PJ. I will find out if she has managed to make any MB items for 2011 and will come back to you.

This year, there were desk calendars and diaries. I had both and they are both amazing!!

There is somebody here selling Michael desk calendars. As far as I know she is not associated with this site.

Hey there Jennifer,

Thanks for letting me know about this! I just looked at this website on ebay, they only want payment with paypal from the U.S.. I don't have paypal and don't want to get it. I prefer using personal checks or a credit card when I buy something. If PJ sells items in the US, that may be better for me. I would like a photo of Michael, more than a calendar.....but a calendar is nice too. So if you find something out, please let me know...if not...then not to worry. Maybe someone on this site can print a few pictures of Michael from his tour and I can pay them. I'm still going to order my Barry Manilow calendar anyway...I can't help it...I'm a Fanilow....LOL! :)

Love, Helena
Sorry to say that PJ isn't making any diaries or calendars this year......it's WAY too costly :-( I'm not sure but the ebay item looks very like the one for last year made by someone who I believe has posted on this site, or it could have been the old forum. I bought one and it's very good. It might be worth checking on the US ebay site for this because, if I remember rightly, she was donating some of the proceeds to Michael's charity as well.

Thank you Jody for advising us on PJ's diaries etc.. I am so sorry that she isnt making them this year. I will truly miss not looking at Michaels face each time I write my diary entry.

Was the young ladies name Laura or Lorraine who made the calendars who used to post on the old forum? I cant remember.

I dont suppose you know whether June is making anything is she for next year is she?

Thanks again Jody.

Love Jennifer XX
Hi Jennifer......I haven't heard that June is making anything but we'll be able to ask her soon!! You just jogged my memory with the name of the calendar lady......I'm pretty sure it was Lesley - another L!

Jody x
