Hello All.  I was just hoping some of the more knowledgable amongst us might have some answers to some of my random Michael Bolton questions.

Question 1:
I've read some place that at its peak, Michael had a vocal range of E2-E6.  Can anyone confirm?  Have any examples of songs where he hits these extreams, or if not, which song (studio or live) has his highest and lowest recorded notes?  Anybody know what his current range is?

Question 2:
Is it true that Michael is deaf in one ear?

Question 3:
I know Michael was into  Shotokan Karate in his younger days.  Does he still take lessons or practice?  Does he have any belts (if that form even has belts)?

ummm..... I think thats it for the moment :).  Anybody else have  wierd questions?

Rats, can't make it play. Would love to hear it. Do you have the web address you got this from so I can use a media converter on it? Payten.
:) I did just after I posted. Thanks. It was an excellent vocal. Thanks for sharing. Payten
Hi Payton, if the one you can't play is the "Georgia", go to :
http://www.michaelboltonphotos.com/soundfiles.shtml
and scroll down the page to where it says it's with Kenny G. You'll have the full version. I've posted this link a few times before but it's way worth it. There's a ton of wonderful treasures on that page... This "Georgia" is my "desert island Georgia", the absolute ultimate, check it out! BTW, there's a musical interlude for the first minute and a half or so, but it's worth waiting for, trust me! Take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
Hi again Payten, if you'd like to hear another example of Michael's range, there's always "Che gelida manina" from "My secret passion" album, in full voice... The word you have to listen for is "spéranza"! I haven't checked if they have it on Youtube though, sorry. Take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
thanks guys :) Anybody have any idea what song he hits a really low note? Payten
Michael hits a really low note in 'Nessun Dorma' when he sings the second 'Nessun Dorma'.

Hope this helps.
Love Jennifer XXX
SILYBIL, Michael ends this song in  E4 range in concerts. Roy Orbison is the only one I know of that can reach E6. I do know that Michael has very good range for his songs.
I'm making a vocal range video for Michael, can anyone suggest some good low notes? And does he have any spoken word passages in any of his songs?

Hi Christopher and welcome to the forum. Wow, may I ask what you’re doing this for? Just curious. And may I also ask how long you’ve been a fan? I’m asking because I’ve noticed that a lot of us assume that everyone signing on here is a long-time, die-hard fan, but we’ve discovered otherwise. I’m just trying to assess how much of Michael’s music you know. Okay well, as far as low notes go, my friend Jennifer has found that the lowest note we can think of is the second time he says:”Nessun dorma” in the aria of the same name, on the 1998 “My secret passion, the arias” album. As far as the spoken passages, In the beginning of the song “New love” on the 1991 “Time love and tenderness” album, he says:”Every time we touch, feels like the first time”, half of it in a whisper. The only 3 other ones I can think of, off the top of my head are in the song “Carrie”, off his selftitled 1983 album and he says “Carrie” with an echoeey  effect, in the song “Can’t turn it off”, on the 1985 album “Everybody’s crazy”, where he says the title in a similar effect as the previous song and last, in the song “Completely” on the 1993 album “The one thing”, where he says the word “trust” in a whisper also. J Well there you go Christopher, let us know if you need more help. Take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
