Hi everyone,

I think enough of us are watching American Idol (AI) to make this thread worthwhile. So I am taking Sylvie from Canada's suggestion to move it from New Tour Reviews 2011 and give it it's own thread here in Off Topic. Since tonight starts the top 11 voting, it's getting interesting and a good time to start talking about it.

I have been a fan since it started 10 years ago. Hard to believe it's been on that long, not many TV shows last that long. So to anyone watching: "who is your favorite?"

Hey Mary, yes I did watch it, it was so good to hear Ryan again! Did the "announcer" guy really look like him? :D Well so far, I like a couple of girls but didn't make a point of remembering their names, but I did enjoy the 17 year old kid who sounded like he was 12 or 13! Phillip Phillips (good name ;D) is definitely talented though. Hope the other girls join in the fun too! Take care Mary. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Hi Sylvie.....did you here the contestant sing HAISTLWY tonight??? It was great and he made it through to Hollywood!!! Michael is such an inspiration!!! And then anther contestant sang Hallelujah!!!! Too funny!!

Kathy and LAFD Bob

Yeah girl, I heard him and left Mary a message before I went to bed: I expected her to post about it yesterday! lol Gail posted the video on the "New videos on YouTube" thread and I remarked thatA I contestants, 2 or 3 over the years, when they sing an MB song, it's always HAISTLWY. It just goes to proove Michael's theory about the fact that good songs never die, I love it! Thanks for posting this here Kathy, it's so good to read you again here! Take care girl. Big hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

P.S.: Incidentally, they played the contestant on the radio this morning, but they also played a clip of Barak Obama singing 1 line from the  Al Green song "Let's stay together": he has a gorgeous singing voice! I should look that up on YouTube... :D

Sorry, I've been a bit pre-occupied...Yes the announcer guy even looked like Ryan....it was like looking at his twin:)! I really have been enjoying this years AI...there is sooo much good talent, heck even Jim Carey's daughter got selected...and Steven Tyler is just soooo crazy...the only thing missing is our MB...Maybe he'lll treat Us and show up on there, someday:)!

Take Care!

Mary (M&M's)!

Has anyone been watching Idol this year? Oh my it's been good with alot of talent, but tonite the contestants were falling off the stage, puling in bags, being rushed to the hospital, and just Plain ole' sick....I hope they feel better by next week:)! Anybody got any favs. so far? Our MB is needed there Bad, those kids could really use his advice!!!

Mary (meg's mom)!

Hey Mary, yeah girl, I'm watching it! As I've told you before, I'm not getting attached to anyone, or at least trying... I thought Jane Carey was really good and I don't know why they let her go. I've forgotten a few names but usually remember stories, but as I've said: I want to wait. I detest the group  portion of it, because too many great voices suffer from it. Hopefully, next week, they'll at least cut it down to the final 12 on the second day. I'm sure Michael would do a great job at mentoring and maybe he's working  his way up to it. Remember "Celebrity duets" and "Clash of the choirs"? Plus he did "The X Factor" in Australia so you never know: stranger things have happened. Thanks for sharing sweetie, time for bed now, take care and goodnight! àHugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

So what do you guys think of the brewing season so far?  I have been a big fan of the Idol until the 2 Davids but I think I lost my interest the seasons after. Though I still chance upon it on the set, because that is just about the time I really watch TV.

I think though that they are great with keeping it as a show but sort of fails to launch the IDOL once they get the crown. Or are they just running out of talents to snatch.

Hi Asha and welcome to the forum. So you watch A I over the pond? :D Well as I was telling Mary, I’m not getting attached to any contestants before the top 12 and yes there is a boatload of talent, but too many of my faves get flushed early on so I’ll let you know! :D As far as  careers go,quite a few idols, winners or not are doing pretty well I’d say, but I’m thinking that sometimes, though they do well in their genre, some may not achieve worldwide success, but you can’t have everything. Thanks  for sharing Asha, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Hi Asha and welcome !!!! Sylvie and Asha I am also watching but am getting a bit bored with the "search" segments. I agree with Sylvie in that I just want the finalists already and let's get to hearing them in different genres!!!! Steve Tyler's "leering" is also getting on my nerves!!! At times I think he needs a bib!!! LOL

Kathy and LAFD Bob

Hey Kathy, How in the heck are you these days? Sylvie & I like to talk about Idol  on here...tonite was pretty good...all except for the really bad groups...LOL:)! I personally like Phillip Phillips, because he's good and he has a really Easy name to remember..LMAO:)!  I agree that it's intense now, but it's supposed to be like this, to keep Us entertained....and lets face it, who doesn't need a good laugh every now and then:)!

If any of you computer whizzes can, would someone make a place for this Season, I would but seriously I am doing good just to do what I do!

LOL:)! Meg's not here to help me, so I'm on my own here.....Help Please! Or we can just keep it here, whatever you all decide is good with me!

Mary (M&M's)!

I am doing just fine Mary!!! I had some extended family issues that I shall ignore forever now!!! Problem solved!! lol Then I spent forever trying to catch up and read everything!!! I can't miss a thing :)  Sooooo....now I should be up to date and on the ball. Well....maybe that is pushing it!!!!!! LOL  Lots of good singers tonight. What's with all the fainting???? You would think Michael was in the building???? LOL  Too soon for me to pick anyone yet. I shall stay tuned :)

Kathy and LAFD Bob

Hi girls, Kathy, you had me ROTFL with your fainting comment this morning! lol Now Mary, at least, your little Phillip Phillips is in for now! Can you believe  the voices this year and how incredible they were in the last round? And was it a coincidence so many people sang "Georgia"? :D They certainly picked a winner of a song! I wonder if they'll get down to about 36 or 30 tonight and finally get into the top 12 next week. I'm sorry but I'm not terribly surprised there's so much fainting: the competition process feels brutal this year. BTW, I was doddling on YouTube yesterday and found a video entitled "Richard Marx American Idol" so had to check it out. It turns out Richard thinks it's really humiliating to go on there and not the best way to find good singers. I wonder what our MB thinks about it. Food for thought. Take care girls and have a great day. Hugs to both of you, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
