It's my first time going to see Michael in Concert in December.
I was just wondering if people could share there experiences with me and tell me what it was like when they went.
I can't wait. I just love his voice
Well Chelsea I can tell you this as your a hugh fan of Michael's your already off to a good start.
I can promise you this Michael is so much more live than on his CD's and I was so surprised just how fanastic and beautiful he was live.
It so very hard to write how you feel when you see someone who you have admired for so many years, there are so many emotions and all of them are wonderful.
Everytime he started a new song I would have this stupid smile on my face and say 'I love this song' or I'd whisper to myself "oh wow this is fanastic" or I say to Bill 'Isn't he fanastic' you are going to have so much fun Chelsea,Michael sounds everybit as good as what you are expecting and then your going to realize he really is so much better than what you exprected.
I can't wait for you to come back here after the concert in December and tell us how it felt for you
OMG Where to start after all these years. It's an amazing experience, MB sounds bigger/better live than any of the CD's, and watching him sing live is just so hard to describe!!LOL. He will give you chills when he sings Nessun Dorma!!! He totally has you feeling the music every time out. Every song. He does as he says take you along the for ride with him at every show. He will go from one era of music to the next and time will go by so fast. Enjoy it, you will come away falling for Michael all over again, at least I always do. He never disappoints.. You are singing and dancing along, it's infectious!!!! The excitement and fun just builds and builds as the show progresses!!!!
Some people say the get high with not so good things--my friends and I have said for years, this is our "high" being at a Michael concert and him right in front of us singing!! It doesn't get much better than that. It's hard to describe, it's just the BEST!!..Just fun times!!! I never ever get tired of seeing him perform live after so many years of going.. NEVER!
I hope you have a wonderful time at your first show and please share with us here how it went for you. Have a blast!!!!!
Robin :)
Hi Chelsea, Robin actually started a thread 3 months ago called “16 years ago today…” that has a bunch of first time concert experiences. That’s one of the first threads I recommend to all my new friends! There are beautiful and heart-warming stories there and some might even make you cry… Also, if you can find the “Brisbane” thread, you can read about the lead-up to and Dianna’s fabulous first concert! I know yours will be just as wonderful! As much as we love the CD’s, seeing Michael live is an unforgettable, sometimes overwhelming experience… He gets better with age and he’s just awesome! Take care Chelsea and if you visit those threads, happy reading! Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
Hi,
For me, it was in 1988, when I went to Graduation Night at Disneyland in Anaheim. It was my first time away from home and it was a bit scary, but it was also the first time I had heard of MIchael. I remember that various members of Journey were backing him up ( I was a huge Journey fan back then). Michael's set was nice. Three years later (1991) was when I got hooked on Michael's music permanently, but this experience was a starting point for me. I've only seen Michael one other time since then, in 2006 in Paso Robles, and that show was incredible. His opening act (Euge Groove) I've seen twice since 2006 and have met Euge twice as well.
Oh my goodness Audrey, that’s so amazing that you saw Michael in ’88! Is there anything else you could tell us about the concert? I’ve only heard it through the grapevine, but I think that there might be part of that concert on the “sound and video” page of the michaelboltonphotos.com site. BTW, if you don’t mind my asking, is there a reason why you haven’t seen Michael more often? Just curious. Well, it’s nice to know another long-time fan is here. I recognized your signature from the previous forum, although I couldn’t post myself on that one. Hope to read you more often! Take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
Hi Sylvie,
I don't remember much about the show except that it was one of the last shows before 6am. I tried to take pictures of it, but the pix didn't come out too good. I did remember Neal, Jonathan, Ross and Steve S were the "backup band" as it were for him and a part of me thought that Journey was going to switch singers, but I was told by another person at the event it wasn't the case. I was a huge Steve Perry fan back then and I didn't want to see Journey split up...at least not at that time.
Michael hasn't really come to the bay area all that often. When he has been here, I either had no money, no transportation or was out of town. The Paso Robles show, it was 3 hours from my house, but it was worth it. I can't remember the last time he was in San Francisco to be honest.
The Quiet One is a signature I use often because of my quiet nature, plus I get so busy with other things, I tend to lurk a lot.
I'll try to come in more often.
Hi Audrey, wow, thanks for your response! Well, I can understand why you might not have been very receptive at first, if you thought Journey was getting a new lead singer. I loved Steve Perry’s voice too. I know intimately what you mean about Michael not coming to your area. I’ve attended 7 concerts so far but only 2 here in Montreal. My husband and I once drove 8 hours to CT for a concert and yes, it was way worth it! You know Audrey, it’s okay to be quiet, people have lives and can’t be on the computer all day. This is the first forum I’ve been able to participate in because it’s blind-friendly and I just can’t tell you how incredibly rewarding these past 3 months have been for me… I’ve read your posts here and there. Are you as knowledgeable about other kinds of music than jazz? That’s one genre I’ve never really been exposed to, any further than Kenny G, Tony Bennett and Michael Bublé. Well, it was really nice talking with you Audrey and hope to see you around again sometime, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
