Go on I dare you Kathy - but if it is starting to go into the realms of officials at a tennis match (where I think it is going) we will just say you ran out of reply buttons and couldn't take up the dare !!!!! LOL.

          Michael Bolton Concert  -  Agua Caliente  -  April 23, 2011

 

                 Another fun concert night listening to our Michael Bolton!! I am happy to report there were no used thongs thrown nor bar room brawls!!! LOL The venue was quite nice for a casino and had GREAT acoustics and made Michael's voice sound absolutely perfect!! The seats were also very comfy and not the typical picnic folding chairs that many casino use. The stage was smaller so that put Michael even closer to the audience :) I looked around for any of the "regulars"... aka the long time fans... and already seated right next to my seat was "the twins"...Connie and Carol!! :) Forgive me ladies if I have your names wrong.....my name memory is horrific! They post once in a while but are definitely reading on the forum :) And yes Robin R. I got all 50 messages you left me on my phone!!! LOL

Important warnings before buying tickets for a Michael Bolton concert: 1) Be sure to check your calendar for HOLIDAYS occurring right AFTER the concert, 2) Side effects from poor planning will include brain dead moments in which you FORGET how to use your camera and the video feature, and 3) Beware of driving by "braille" caused by holiday preparation fatigue which leads to 3 hours weaving to left side of your driving lane until you hit the Bots dots....wake up....and weave to the right side of your lane until you hit the Bots dots again...and wake up again!!! I had motion sickness by the time we got home!!! We arrived home safely on a wing and a prayer!! :) lol

Enjoy my review........

                           Michael came on the stage looking quite relaxed and a little subdued until he received the thunderous applause from the audience. Fans showing their love instantaneously toward Michael energized him and he gained momentum with each song. Again my memory fails me when it comes to a song setlist or is it because of so many concerts and all the songs running together? lol I am very HAPPY to say that Michael sang Sweet Home Chicago AND Rock Me Baby!!! OH my.....when I saw the blue guitar come out so early ...I knew SHC was coming!! Yay! Sadly...... Michael did not sing Hallelujah :/ When he mentions in his dialogue that he will be taking requests....I shouted out Hallelujah....to no avail. Maybe on Thursday?? I hope so!! The show went on for 1 1/2 hours and included the usual songs. No Murder My Heart either and less Sinatra. Michael did mention his new cd coming out in June :) Of course I made my way to the stage after WAMLAW :) It was only me and the twins! I tried to encourage the audience to join us...but no. And of course I brought my mandatory LAFD t-shirt. Michael saw all 3 of us at the stage and when he saw me he flashed that GORGEOUS smile that just melts your heart!!! He walked over to me and I handed him the t-shirt...he reads the fire station logo...and smiles that cute little sideways smile and laughs and that let's you know that he knows well where the shirt is coming from!!! He tucks the shirt under his right arm of which his same hand is holding the microphone and extends his left hand toward me. I point at him to let him know that he is the man!!I I take his hand in mine and then cup both of my hands over his in a gesture to thank him for all the great concerts and memories!!!! What a sweet moment!! Awwww...he is just so KIND!!!! This is where Bob has his brain dead moment and pushes the wrong button on the camera!!! Oh well.....hopefully he recovers in time for Chumash!!! And of course I and the twins stayed at the stage....UNTIL....the dreaded security asked us nicely to be seated. We complied...always on the first request!! lol We build our moxie up after that and we serious fans don't want to be bothered by security again!!! LOL Go away!!!! Michael has performed his "last" song and the twins and I know the encore is coming...so we stand to make our return to the stage...and the twins actually are pushing me to get to the stage faster!!!! I love it.... :) We are at the stage dancing to Rock Me Baby!!!!! LOVE IT!!!!! Another Michael concert is over but only until the next one :)

Upon checking out all the exit doors to the venue....there are no buses or distinguished cars which might tell one where the band or Michael is exiting :/ Hmmmm...curiosity peaks! lol Thank goodness for steroid shots in my back that allowed me to canvass the entire perimeter of the venue in my heels under 5 minutes!!! What a hustle!!! You Bolton regulars know that chase!! LOL We "find" some roadies who are on their only smoking break....they said.....and they told us they "heard" there was some special thing happening on Sunday. SO Bob and I surmised that with this info and no vehicles parked in position for an exit....everyone must be staying the night at the hotel :/ No stage door for me :(  I decide to invest another hour waiting near the venue door that exits into the casino and see who just might leave later. I saw Michael Lington and "turtle". Remember him? He was the first sax player that was in Michael's band:) I saw both of the guitar players and then out comes Tom and Ashley Hayes :) What a delightful surprise! He is so nice and Ashley is ADORABLE!!! I gave her a big hug and we exchanged emails. Dad Tom was thrilled at the kindness bestowed to Ashley by Michael and his "people"!!! I also say thank you to Michael and his crew for all their generosity towards a much deserving fan...Miss Ashley!!! Dad Tom shared many special moments with me about Michael including the wonderful time they had at Agua Caliente!!!! How wonderful for two very special people!!! I can't wait to see you two again in Chumash!!! And of course Michael also!! :) :) :) Well...I couldn't wait any longer as we would be arriving home at 3am as it was and I had to be ready for my gang of 40 arriving for Easter dinner!!! I had a 20 lb turkey and a ham to get in the oven by 9am!!! OMG......what a complicated Bolton adventure I created this time!!! Please heed all my concert warnings at the beginning of my review!! LOL There is ALWAYS another concert and another adventure to look forward to........like on Thursday at Chumash!!!!!

Hey Kathy, I have been wondering about you. OMG there is video out there of MB kissing Ashley's cheek on his way back to the stage for WAMLAW and I'm so glad he saw her and she visited him too way it sounds on FB...Way to go Ashely. She and her dad are so nice. I envy you meeting them in person..OMG sounds like a crazy concert but you had a blast. Woo HOo!! I remember twin ladies that were tall and blond Candice and  Alice-- they used to be Twinner A and Twinner B on AOL years ago. Are they the ladies you mean?   

Do you mean Joe Turano who was MB's sax player?? I loved Joe back in the 1990's when I first started going to concerts.. He was such a nice fellow too and M Lington is the best isn't he!!  So glad it all worked out even with some technical difficulties. So glad your back held up.

I'm thrilled you got to the stage and MB acknowledged your gift and you had that moment. Those are memories we never forget!!! Woo Hoo!

On to your next show this week. Thanks so much for your fun review, I felt like I was there with you girl!!

Hi Robin Md....I think the "twinners" were from Arizona? This is too funny....I believe these gals are different twins....lol If the Agua Caliente twins are out there...please post and help me here!!!!

This sax player was after Joe. I remember Michael teasing this particular guy and calling him "turtle". This was back when Michael played at the Pala Casino. Hey Robin R help me with these dates..... I think you were there? I am soooo terrible with dates.....with names... I am officially losing my mind with the last crazy few months I have had!!!! This particular musician didn't play too long with Michael. Someone out there must know this same info :) 

Michael Lington is great and just as sweet as Michael :)

Yes....sweet Ashley got to meet with Michael after the concert. I had no idea she was sitting to the far right of me! She and her dad...Tom...are such dedicated fans! Tom sounds like he is having the time of his life making Ashley soooooo happy!!!! We had a delightful conversation :)

OK Yes the girls I thought about were in AZ, that's right..shoot. Don't know who the gals are that you are talking about. I don't know the CA fans well.. I don't remember anyone called turtle on stage by MB after Joe left.. He had quite a few sax players, John Scarpula, Scott Mayo and Jason and now M Lington..I have to look back at pics to figure out this one, my brain isn't connecting it..I hate it when I cannot remember a name like that. it will bug me..LOL  Again glad you had such a wonderful time...

Hi Robin Md.....Sylvia came up with a Joel name I think. She wrote on my wall here. I told her that between the 2 Robins and Sylvie someone will know who he is. Dang....I should have taken a photo. I know Turano was Michael's original sax player back in the great days!!! :) Sylvia's Joel and your John sound like possibilities. I don't recall a story going along with the "turtle" moniker....but I clearly remember that was what Michael called him during introductions:)  Bob remembered him also and the nickname. It is driving me crazy also. If we can get photos to go with those names....that would help. Oy vey!!!!

Cool review, Kathy. Thanks. I appreciate it. I'm glad you met up with Ashley&Tom. Neat they're going to Thursday's concert. Did they get to meet up with Michael or something? /cool if they did. The waving in the driving :)))))), sounds like my driving I mean walking. I can't even walk a stright line let alone drive? :)))))) I know. I have a sick sense of humor.

 

I'm glad your Easter was a success as well. :)))))

Hi Robin R...yes Ashley did meet with Michael after the concert. It appears there were a lot of people he saw after the show. She and her dad were beaming after their visit with Michael :)

AWWWW I'm so glad. Tom posted he had pics of the show but none were allowed backstage this time..But I wrote back they have the amazing video of MB kissing Ashley..that's priceless!!!!!

I have put the video out on Facebook this morning Robin but that is a pity they were not allowed to take photos - wonder if it was just the venue or if Michael is changing things a bit with photos of himself - notice that all his photos now carry his 2011 Michael Bolton Copyright !

On the question I raised about the photos wonder if it is in connection with the point Janis has brought to attention on Facebook that from Friday, unless you change your settings, Facebook take over publishing rights to your private photos.....possibly Michael is making darn sure he is safeguarded and he is going to safeguard his friends too from possible exploitation....I have changed my settings but I am also going to remove the pictures of Michael that I have in my albums just in case they find some loophole and grab them - they are not getting them !!!!! :)
