Thank You

I wanted to thank all of you who are bringing the spammers to my attention. I delete them as often as I can during the day but they seem to be changing their names and coming back for more so bare with me til they decide to leave. I can change the controls to have the new members have to be approved before joining but that would cause a delay in "real" new members so I'm going to keep at it for a while longer.  ;( Gail

No problem Gail, glad to help.  We just happen to get on and find them.  You cannot be on here all the time.. Shame the spammers feel the need to do this in the first place.. Hope it dies down soon with them.. thanks for all you do keeping this site the best site ever!

I'm noticing a lot of new members who haven't posted yet but their names are very suspicious.  I can turn on a feature for fans joining that requires them to answer a question as well. That might cut down on some of the spammers.  Do any of you see a problem with that?  If you joined a site and had to answer a question regarding the person whose site it is would you have not join if you had to maybe research the answer first?  I'd make it one most fans would know though.  Gail

Hi Gail, good idea: that should cut down on spam if they have to actually type in something relevant. If it doesn't, change the basic knowledge question once a week. If they keep posting and they have to do research, they might end up knowing a thing or 2 about Michael! :D Well, it's worth the shot, go for it! Take care sweetie. I think asking a relevant question is worth a try. It could be mentioned why they had to answer the question, if that's possible.
In any case, you've still got all of us to jump on them ;)

HI GAIL!  IT IS A GOOD IDEA   IT MAY CUT DOWN ON SPAM BUT NOT ELIMINATE IT   SPAMMERS ARE VERY DETERMINE THEY WOULD DO ALMOST ANYTHING   IT IS WORTH A TRY   IT CAN'T HURT

Ok..added a question for new people joining. It is one most of Michael's fans would know and easy to find if they don't know. I don't think most spammers are going to take the time to research it.  Will see how it goes. Thanks again for you patience!! Gail
