I am looking forward to another fun year of posts and sharing great times by the best Michael Bolton fans in the world on this forum. I will post events to keep the thread moving along as the concerts come up as I have in the past.

Bethlehem, PA 5/30/2014 WELCOME HOME MICHAEL!!!!!!!!!
The concert in Bethlehem PA really rocked!!!! Michael and the band all seemed so happy being back in the good old USA. MB first came out and said how they just got back from the UK and Ireland and Bethlehem was the first show back in the USA. He said we could make as much noise as we liked and asked if we could be as loud as the last two shows in Dublin, Ireland as they were VERY loud. He also said to take all the photos we liked and get his best side etc. and did a big cheesy grin before he sat down for the first song. When he first came out and said hello Bethlehem, Pennsylvania people called out stuff and he did see me in the midst of that and said a quick Hello Robin. We had front row on the left of the center of the stage. That was sweet of him. LOL He then sat down to do the acoustical set and did a great job as always on TLS and Dock of the Bay...I took a number of pics again, couldn’t resist him and that guitar!! LOL He looked happy and was kidding around a lot in between songs. The audience was a loud bunch and calling things out and making him laugh. He then did SILYBIL and told the story about overseas folks not understanding the title of the song etc... MB got a good many laughs again with that one. His voice was AWESOME, very strong and he was totally in control. As always he blew us away. After that one he sang You Don’t Know Me, which was beautiful as always also. Some time during this part I think is when someone on the other side was taking pics and he was like I hope that’s a good one, and he made a big cheesy smile, I said what about over here? He said something about ok I’ll get to you over there but then he didn’t!!LOL It was one of those funny moments you had to be there for..MB playing it up to the camera!!LOL Then……they bring his electric guitar out and we think Sweet Home Chicago…not quite yet…..He asks the audience how many people have seen the video Jack Sparrow? Lots of applause and clapping etc…He then said he’s had a lot of requests for it and here is a little bit of it or something to that effect and sang the main verses and played guitar center stage with the band backing him up!! The music was a bit louder than MB for some reason but it was lots of fun!!!!FINALLY we got to hear it live!!. The audience went wild..OMG…I loved hearing him sing it, too bad he cannot do the entire song due to the lyrical content and it being a family show. The place went nuts.. OMG!!!!!! He asked people to go on Youtube and keep watching it and tell all our friends to do the same but to keep it away from the kids..and made a face.. (due to the adult content in parts of it). I loved it, something I’ve NOT seen before!! J
I have to mention there was an adorable little girl down our row towards the center aisle that MB spied as soon as he got on stage and he tossed his first guitar pick her way and the people there found it and gave it to her. He mentioned it being a family show and nodded her way when a lady made a lewd comment about him taking his jacket off to play guitar.. LOL Also later when MB went off stage the first time to change, he sent out his security guy to give the little girl ear buds for her ears. MB must have noticed it was too loud for her. He’s too sweet or what!!!!! AWWWWW Jason and the band did a great job during their song while MB changed backstage. Jason came over and I got some good pics of him I’ll post in the gallery! He was mugging it up for the camera!!LOL When MB came back and started introducing the girls for the duets I thought he would have Kelly out first and he started to talk about Hitsville and Detroit and myself and someone else near me said Kelly and he then introduced Amanda and turned around and gave us the biggest smile, like NOPE, got ya!!LOL It was cute…..Amanda really rocked it on Ain’t Nothing Like The Real Thing with MB.. I had not heard her before and loved her. She did a great job. She’s full of energy and all smiles and has a lovely voice too. MB really got into the song with her.
Then he started to introduce How Am I Supposed to Live W/O You. MB started talking about writing it with Doug James and the back-story of his early career, Laura Branigan's big hit with it and Doug was in the audience about 4 rows back or so near center aisle. He had him stand up and gave him many accolades and said what a wonderful person and a nice guy he is as well as an amazing songwriting talent. Something to that effect, maybe some of the other girls remember better. Doug is nice, we got to shake his hand and talk to him briefly after the concert last night. He seems to be a very gentle and kind person. I saw what MB meant. They really killed that one too especially with Doug in the house!!! LOL
Then next he did introduce Kelly and everyone went nuts for her... She’s so pretty and full of energy and what a voice!!!. I love that gal. He asked her if she was jet lagged and she said yes and he said they had just flown in a few days ago and their arms were tired. Not many laughs and he said something about that one wasn’t funny. I missed his exact comment!!LOL They did Ain’t No Mountain with MB and had everyone rocking/singing along. The Prayer with MB and Kelly was beautiful-they killed it.OMG..His voice was AWESOME and he really held the note at the end. Quite a few of us in front gave them a Standing O for that one. Then after that he did the usual story about going to sing with Pavarotti and then performed Nessun Dorma. AGAIN MB gave another AMAZING performance. Another Standing Ovation and cheers from the audience. He gave me chills again singing it!!! Wow!!! The audience was giving him the love I tell you!!! He was loving it right back too.. MB was smiling and laughing in between. Then the girls did their medleys of MB’s songs and really did a rockin job. The audience was really giving them the cheers and applause too. I got some cute pics of both of them..
Then of course MB comes into the audience for WAMLAW. There is just a center aisle so he came down from the back of the venue and was about 15 rows or so back. I was on the left side standing in front of the stage by my seat and watching and waiting to see which way they were bringing him to the stage. He got lots of hand shakes on his way down the aisle and turned to the right so the girls there hopefully got to see him and shake his hand as he went past!!!!
We went to the stage in front of us and the guards at first were saying we could not be there, I said he allows it and as soon as I said it, the fans at the center had swarmed and the other end and I said see!!!! MB was taking someone’s hand at center stage already and leaning over to do it so then the guy stopped and stood there the rest of the night. I wished he would have left so a fan could have stood there. This WAS a 5 foot high stage and I was on my toes the entire time I was up there to see over it. I’m about 5.4 ½ so I was doing my best!!LOL As soon as he started How Can We Be Lovers, MY FAV SONG in Concert he came our way and I put my hand up and he smiled down and took and held it a little while there, boy was I stretching to reach him!! LOL It was well worth it though! LOL If he only knew!!LOL He went down past me and my friend was on the other side of the gal beside me and she’s shorter than me. Bless him he bent down so he could hold her hand and smile at her, he squeezed her hand too she said. She was THRILLED. He recognizes her but she’s not tall and sometimes it’s not easy for him to see her but this time he did!!! Woo Hoo!!!
Back and forth he went and touching lots of hands. He took gifts from people and was really into that crowd and it got packed down by us at the stage and at center as far as I could see. He really leaned out once in the center part and got pretty far out to touch as many hands as possible!! They did Steel Bars next and he killed it. I have pics of the moves before the jump and the jump he does at the end. Then next was TLT and he came over to me at one point and put the mic down for me to sing and I don’t know if the grin was because he was enjoying it or I sounded lousy as usual!!LOL I smiled back and did my best as always. I did not take a pic this time, wanted to just enjoy the moment…LOL MB worked both sides of the stage interacting with fans the entire time. Then he went off and we knew it wasn’t over. No one left standing at that stage-they knew!!LOL He came back out playing ROCK ME on his electric guitar!!! OMG I have not seen that done in a while and even with it being more instrumental he was smoking. I would have loved to have seen him in his old rocker days!! WHEW!!!! He’s still got that about him on stage and I love it!!! J
I could watch him play guitar all day long anyway so that made my night!!!! More guitar pictures for me!!!!! LOL Then after that he did a quite long version of Can I Touch You There..OMG it’s been YEARS since we heard that live. They still had the backing track for it as the band on stage cannot make all those exotic sounds you hear but boy did he nail that one. Everyone was dancing and singing and the girls were doing their moves up back. A few times Kelly was looking down smiling at us all dancing and singing along!!! Whew!!!! A roar of applause at the end as they then lined up and MB thanked Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and the line up was done in a blink and then MB waved and was gone.. We were so happy to be able to rock at the stage for that long at a show. It’s been some time since he did all those rockin hits and the encore was all up-tempo stuff!!!!! My legs were tired but boy was it worth it. Even the cramp in it driving last night to my friend’s house!!LOL
Oh and at the end Drew ran down front and gave me another drumstick. LOL I have two now. The first he gave me in Annapolis in December.. I thanked him later after the show for it.. He’s a sweet guy and very talented too. I like him a lot.
I did see some of the girls from on this site before the show and then again milling around some afterward. Was nice to see you all!!! After the show we were waiting for someone and we saw Doug James and his wife come up past us so my friend introduced herself to him and then I did also. We shook hands and chatted a few minutes with him. He was headed backstage to see MB so we didn’t keep him long but what a sweet and gentle fellow he seems to be. I can see why MB really adores him as a life long friend and colleague in the business.
We had talked to Jason and gotten some pics before the show in the afternoon and kidded around with him and saw Brian and Nelson with him when they were getting ready to go inside the venue.. After the show we were outside and Kelly was going to her vehicle and FINALLY after over 3 years I had a chance to talk to her and get some photos with this talented lady. We hugged and laughed!!!! She said she felt like she knew me too after all this time. She’s been watching me dancing and singing down front and saying hi from the stage over the years. My friend and I both took some photos with her. We asked for her cards for her new CD and she had to get them out of her suitcase. She didn’t do the merchandise stand so we were lucky to have run into her when we did. Drew was sweet and waited for her. They had to drive back up north after the show to NYC. That’s when I was also able to thank him for the drumstick. LOL
MB rocked Bethlehem and once again was wonderful to his fans.. He was really given a VERY WARM and APPRECIATIVE WELCOME HOME!!!!! He felt it too, we have no doubt.
I hope the others come in and post too and correct me if I’m missing something. A lot was going on all night and it’s hard to remember all of it. Thanks MB and band for another amazing show on this 20th year of my MB concert journey. You really had the place rockin for my 138th show!!! Now just waiting for the next go round and maybe I can break 140 by end of this year if we have more later on..We never know when the next round of shows will be!!
I will put up an album of photos in the gallery soon and post the link here!!! I hope you all enjoy this review!
Robin in MD still on a cloud!!LOL :)
Thank you very much for this wonderful report Robin! It is as if I been there!
Too bad that Michael could do in Germany no jokes on stage; the reason is surely the language barrier! He knows very few fans would understand his jokes!
Hey Robin, can you use the second image in the size of a poster to print and send to me (ha, ha)? It made me a little dizzy at the sight of the Picture (Wohoooo)!
