Working with Andy, Akiva and Jorma on the Jack Sparrow digital short was one of the highlights of my career and most memorable experiences of my life. For the few people on the planet who might not know, these guys are brilliant, funny and beyond super talented. They made me do
things I never would have expected to be comfortable with and I'm so glad I did. Truly grateful to be a part of this project and CANNOT WAIT for the chance to work with the guys again. Now Back To The Good Part.

Michael Bolton steals the show on 'Saturday Night Live' digital short, 'Jack Sparrow'

Michael Bolton is obsessed with 'Pirates of the Caribbean' in the 'SNL' short, 'Jack Sparrow.' Is Michael Bolton cool again?

The adult-contemporary singer's appearance on a "Saturday Night Live" digital short featuring Andy Samberg's Lonely Island music group stole the show this weekend.

In "Jack Sparrow," Bolton, who hasn't had a hit since 1993's "Said I Loved You...But I Lied," sings the chorus for the rap group -- and he's obsessed with "Pirates of the Caribbean."

At the start of the video, he tells the group, which also includes Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer, that he was late to the studio because he was watching a "Pirates" marathon.

As the Lonely Island members rap their lyrics about girls and shoot-outs, Bolton comes in with the chorus: "This is the tale of Captain Jack Sparrow/Pirates so brave on the Seven Seas" -- much to the group's confusion.

Then he keeps yelling out "Captain Jack Sparrow" and "Johnny Depp" over their lyrics.

But arguably the best part of the video is when Bolton, dressed as Depp's Captain Sparrow, belts out more Pirates-centric lyrics from a pirate ship.

Inexplicably, Bolton then launches into lyrics about "Forrest Gump," "Erin Brockovich" and "Scarface" -- dressed as the films' characters -- and acts out scenes from the flicks.

"Jack Sparrow" appears on The Lonely Island's May 10 album, "Turtleneck and Chain."

Who knew Michael Bolton, who skewered Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow, could be such a laugh riot?

Well, violinist Anne Akiko Meyers, who was in Grand Rapids last week to close the Grand Rapids Symphony's Classical Series, playing her $3.6 million Stradivarius fiddle on a little Mozart in DeVos Performance Hall.

The California girl, who has worked with such artists as Chris Botti and Wynton Marsalis, recently recorded a U2 song, “Pride in the Name of Love,” for Bolton's upcoming album, “Gems: The Duets Collection.”

“He was such a super guy, and a terrific singer,” Meyers recalled. “I had such a blast working with him.”

On NBC-TV's “Saturday Night Live” on Saturday, Bolton appeared in a SNL video short by Andy Samberg, a recurring segment on the late-night comedy show. But Bolton soon hijacked the film to sing the praises of Captain Jack Sparrow, followed by Tom Hanks as Forest Gump and several other icons of the silver screen.

“It turns out Michael Bolton is a major cinefile,” Samberg glumly concluded.

Courtesy PhotoAnne Akiko Meyers, who appeared in DeVos Performance Hall this past weekend with the Grand Rapids Symphony, said Michael Bolton's a terrific guy to work with.
Bolton, on his website today, had this to say about his appearance on "Saturday Night Live."

"Working with Andy, Akiva and Jorma on the Jack Sparrow digital short was one of the highlights of my career and most memorable experiences of my life. For the few people on the planet who might not know, these guys are brilliant, funny and beyond super talented. They made me do things I never would have expected to be comfortable with and I'm so glad I did."
Bolton last appeared in West Michigan in March at Forest Hills Fine Arts Center, where Lorilee Cracker, writing for The Grand Rapids Press and Mlive.com made this shrewd observation:

“It’s easy to pigeonhole the artist as an ’80s crooner, a fading heartthrob whose heyday was 20 years ago,” Craker said. “These things are all true, but when you see him perform live, it’s striking how very versatile and talented he is.”

Bolton's album, “Gems,” is due to be released in June 21, featuring Bolton singing some of his favorite songs with a variety of guest artists, including Botti, Eva Cassidy, Rascal Flatts and Seal. Meyers, a classical violinist, who said she enjoys collaborating with musicians in other genres as she did in the studio, playing violin behind Bolton singing the U2 song.

“It was such fun to rock out, yet it needs this beautiful sound,” she said

This is unbelievably funny! As for those who take it as gospel and way too seriously (Nicole), you need to lighten up girl! It's a parody, that's what these boys do! It's 100% A1 material and everyone I've shown it to loves it! Well done MB, this is brillant and shows the world the sense of humour and lighter side!!

Can't stop watching it! Now, back to the good part Captain Jack!!
