New Year Resolutions for 2012....with a completely NEW slant !!!

Following a request and suggestion from a very dear friend of all of ours on this forum, Sylvie from Canada, I’ve agreed to set up this thread on behalf of both of us and hope that you’ll join in the fun .

Sylvie's idea came from the age old New Year resolution pledges that we’ve all made and have often all broken, throughout the years, and hoped that by trying a "new sauce" on that "old turkey"  it could feel easier for us all and give us a chance to be able to "pat ourselves on the back" and proudly say we achieved our goal of following to the end our... "New Month"... resolution instead........ what do you think?

We both agreed that the month of January would be a "freeby" so we can share suggestions if any of our usual active forum members are interested in this project which, we both hope, will turn into something worthwhile and a lot of fun too.  So guys, if you’d like to take part, please feel free to share your ideas of what you think would be useful and fun resolutions for all of us to follow each month.

Obviously this January is, apart from a "freeby" month, a trial month too so that Sylvie and I can see your interest in this and figure out what the majority think so that we can start February with a very firm idea of what our 1st Resolution will be.  Each one, thereafter, will be clearly displayed before the month begins and will be advertised with an MB calendar as is shown below for our "freeby" month of January.  We hope that each month we can all share stories, tips and cheer each other on.

If you’re interested please join in and give us your thoughts and let’s make this great forum even more of a fun place to visit where we can all come together as friends, thanks to our love and admiration for our Michael.

Hey Sylvia, well, I have to say that my consistency to exercize has improved, but I'm not quite there yet. I did however compromised that even 25 minutes on the bike is not as good as 40 or 45, but it's better than nothing, so things are moving in the right direction. Yoga is something I never attempted and unless I'd have a personal teacher, I'd be a bit apprehensive of trying it with a DVD teacher, for fear of not being able to untangle myself! lol Take care Sylvia and kudos on your achievements! Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

As you say Sylvie 25 minutes is better than nothing and I know you'll get up to that 45 before the end of the year......I have faith in you !!!! :)))))      On my yoga I went to a class a thousand years ago and did and progressed so far there but didn't keep it up and then went back to it on my own and way back when Sylvie it wasn't a DVD because I didn't have a DVD player;  it was plain and simply, a book !! LOL.  I don't get into all twisted positions it is more full stretching positions I do like the half moon, the warrior and the tree but I am glad I have got back into it because I do feel the benefit so it is onward and upward as they say and I will definitely try to keep it up because I believe at my age if I stop I might never be able to start again !!!! LOL.

The question now is:  "what are we going to get up to in April ???????????????? "    LOL.

Hey Sylvia, oh I can definitely be on the bike for 45 minutes and more, it's just that at times, I get too busy and have only so much time available. Most often, I just grab an MB CD and bike the length of it, but feel bad if I can't, because obviously, I want to listen to the whole thing! :D So that's why at times, I have to pick something else for the time available. I wish Jane Fonda had made one of those yoga tapes back when I could see it! lol Good for you Sylvia about the yoga, I'm sure it'll do you good. Take care sweetie. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

We have arrived at 1st April with the first quarter of 2012 gone so let's look forward to the next quarter and in particular this little month that kicks it off and this little day which is All Fool's Day  !!!!  LOL.   Wonder what we should try and achieve during April and I have to say I was wondering as we are coming into spring/summer if we should take ourselves outdoors and for those who are interested in gardening or just the general caring and feeding of plants, whether in the ground, or in pots that we may have around our homes, or even window boxes, if we live in flats, but let us share in whatever plants are growing well or those that give us the most satisfaction in seeing them starting to come to life and grow and prove, even to our amazement, that we do have "green fingers"  !!! lol.   For those not the least bit interested in growing anything but like to sit outdoors and possibly enjoy a good book whilst doing so for them to share with us a book that they are either reading or one which they have read and they feel is worthy enough to share with us all so that we may be able to obtain that book and read for ourselves or simply share something that someone loves to do outdoors but remember, keep it "clean" !!!!! LOL.    There could even be the start of barbeques and sharing what was cooked, eaten and enjoyed and what sort of little party surrounded the "barbie" or walks to local parks and what made that a lovely trip to have made.......something that has been a worthwhile experience for a few minutes or even the whole day to us and that we want to share !!! :)   Have obviously got to think about those in other continents and countries where the month of April does not necessarily mean the beginning of spring but can forecast the beginning of autumn but please also share your outdoor activities at this time of year and those that have meant the most to you for whatever particular reason.....please !!! :)

No matter what, I hope everyone has a great month of April and for those that celebrate them, a wonderful Easter and an equally wonderful Passover.......let's welcome happy times ahead and if no other resolution can play a part in your life just now, at least make one, to smile a lot more during this beautiful month in our calendar !! :)

The calendar picture for this month Sylvie I have placed on top of a page from an Atlas showing Australia........wonder why I picked that for this month ?????? LOL.

Would you believe Sylvie that I was kind of "busy" doing something else today that I nearly forgot all about this page !!!!!!!!!!!! ROFL.

Hey Sylvia, okay so MB's pic is on an atlas, but pic description pleas? Thanks sweetie, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Sylvie,

obviously Sylvia is too busy exchanging E-mails with MB discussing their favorite singer on AI on Fool's Day/1.of April - ROFL..

I will team up if you or her don't mind describing the pic: It is one of those gorgeous life concert photo in the 90ties when MB wore bright jeans, black t-shirt, vest and cap - and long blond locks, of course. When Sylvia has calmed down she might recall the correct date. LOL

Hugs

Astrid

Ooh Astrid, yum, thanks! lol Take care. Big hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada :D

Thanks Astrid and sorry Sylvie.....I have definitely been toooooooooooooo preoccupied to do anything right today !!! lol.    I even caught my cats out this morning for at breakfast time I told them they weren't getting any breakfast but after listening and watching them sitting sobbing for five minutes I relented and told them it was just April Fool's !!!! LOL.    As for the picture Astrid I don't know the exact date but by the look on Michael's face and his position with the hand out almost as though he is pleading and the leg, with the knee bent up, maybe it was 1st April, 1992 and he is saying; "OMG Sylvia, please, please, I am begging you, no more jokes !!!!"  LOL.

BTW Sylvie all the Australian dates are marked off on the calendar as are all concert dates known for this year !! :)

Sylvia! You  are a bad kitty mom, how dare you? Poor babies... Well thanks for the further description: that, in itself would be enough to distract anyone! Lol Oh yes, that “please”, I can hear it now... towards the end of WAMLAW... hm-hm good...  Talk about distractions... :D Again, thanks for everything girl, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada :D

Is it April 2 yet???? It will take Wee One an entire week to recoup from her wee jokes!!! LOL

kathy and LAFD Bob

Yes Kathy it is April 2nd .....worst luck !!!!! LOL     I swear though that I am going to catch you lot out one of these years and I don't know about a week to recover Kathy for I'm already trying to think what I can get up to for next year and maybe what I could do is get a hold of some unsuspecting guy just now and build it up so that he agrees we announce our engagement on 1st April, 2013 and not one of you would believe me until you saw the picture of the ring and then on 2nd April I could even tell him it was only an April Fool's........could I be so rotten and go to such lengths to pull of a joke ????....YES !!!!!!! LOL.   To go completely and utterly off topic, which I don't do often, do I...??....digress...me....what you talking about ...????....well in any case here is a little story for you and one which proves my mother knew me well for a thousand years ago I fell in love with Russian wedding rings and I seriously wanted one so on my 35th birthday my mother said she would buy me one....which she did.....BUT.....whilst in the jewellers, after I had chosen which one I wanted, she told the guy serving us that she was my mother and she was buying it for me as it appeared I was never going to meet a man who would ever buy me a wedding ring......MORTIFIED......WOW......I thank God I have never set eyes on that guy ever again and that is not an April Fool's joke for it is the God's honest truth.....yeah, my mother.....tell it like it is kid, why don't you !!!! LOL.   Maybe that is what is wrong for it is the only piece of jewellery that I constantly wear and maybe a lot of guys think I am Russian and married when they see it......it has taken me 26 years to think of that or do you think, my wearing it, could possibly be a "deliberate" Freudian slip......yes, let them all think what they like !!!! LOL.   I should also add that for the last 25 years I have laughed, at this time of year, when I recall that day and now, because I am laughing at that beautiful memory and the memory of all the years in between when my mother and I laughed at it together, I wanted to share it with you and I hope you don't mind me doing so !!! :)

Sylvia.    Your wee Scottish friend.

What in the world does a Russian wedding ring look like??? My dad is full Russian and I am quite interested. Or have you managed to make April Fool's Day last for TWO days????????????  Funny story indeed and I guess your mom had her own funny sense of humor eh?? ;)
