The First Annual Michael Bolton and Dave Mason

Benefit Concert & Celebrity Golf Classic

Sunday, September 26th, 2010

Ojai Valley Inn & Spa

Ojai, California

Event Information & Sponsorship Opportunities

The 1st Annual Michael Bolton and Dave Mason Benefit Concert and Celebrity Golf Classic will take place on Sunday, September 26th at the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa, an historic resort featuring luxury accommodations, a championship golf course and Spa Ojai.

We will tee off at 9:00 a.m. at the world-class Ojai Country Club, one of the first great golf courses in California. Later that evening Michael and Dave will perform with their great bands and surprise musical guests. The evening will include a cocktail/dinner reception, silent and live auctions.

Your support will make it possible for The Michael Bolton Charities, established in 1993 to assist children and women at risk, to continue our funding to numerous agencies.

A portion of the proceeds from our event will benefit two local organizations:

Yoga Blue, Inc., a non-profit organization established in 2009 in Ojai by Winifred Wilson, whose mission is dedicated to teaching yoga to people in recovery from substance abuse, other self-destructive behaviors and domestic violence.

The Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research Program at Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles. The hospital has been treating the most seriously ill and injured in Los Angeles for more than a century and is known throughout the United States and around the world for its leadership in pediatric and adolescent health.

Hi Gail, I’d say I’m not always perfectly accurate but I’m usually pretty good with dates. I’m absolutely positive about the release date of “My secret passion” though because it was my friend’s birthday. Here in Canada, Michael was promoting everything at the same time: “All that matters”, “The secret of the lost kingdom” and “My secret passion” at the end of ‘97/beginning of ’98 and I know both albums were out when I attended my first concert July 28 1998. I haven’t attended that many concerts so they’re burned into my mind! Lol Thanks for the little slice of history there, cool article, thanks sweetie! Girl, I can not begin to tell you how much I love to hear Michael talk about music... :D He's right though about the booklet and setting the moments up. You have to understand where the emotions come from and what the character is feeling when you don't understand the words. I always study operas before listening to them, since I can't follow with the libretto. Wow, I'm sorry to be so much off topic! :D  Hmm, I should pull out that “live by request” show. It’s a shame that one wasn’t made into a DVD, isn’t it? Well anyway, take care Gail. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada :D

Thanks for an oldie but goodie article Gail. The author seems a bit snooty..lol What's new???

I hope no one minds me bringing this link over here for it is an old video and also it is not to do with Traveler's but from Ojai last year.  I know I saw part of the video and I also saw pictures which I now realize were taken from it but I have never seen it in its entirety and as the next golf competition isn't too far away hoped this would be a little appetizer for at the beginning you see Michael playing golf and punching the air when one goes in and at the end, apart from all the bits where he appears in between including interview, it closes with him singing on stage....again....a part I have never seen !    Hope you all enjoy and helps to get us all in the mood for that golf comp. in just over a week and maybe should also mention that there is a shot of Isa with her camera when she was filming away !! :)

This article about Golf Competition on Wednesday is on the Traveler's Championship website and so far no tee-off times have been announced but it looks interesting about the radio interviews that they are going to do this year......need to try and get tuned in !! :)

"Celebrities and sports stars will converge on TPC River Highlands on Wednesday, June 20, for the annual Travelers Celebrity Pro-Am. Participants for this year’s pro-am include actor Bill Murray; six-time National Sportscaster of the Year Chris Berman; Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Michael Bolton; Hall of Fame College Basketball coaches Jim Calhoun and Geno Auriemma; musician Javier Colon, who won NBC’s “The Voice” in 2011; WWE superstar Booker T; Heisman Trophy winner Doug Flutie; NFL Hall of Famer Andre Tippett; “Baseball Tonight” host Karl Ravech; NFL player-turned-sportscaster Ahmad Rashad; former NBA player and UConn standout Scott Burrell; Quinnipiac head men’s basketball coach Tom Moore; University of Connecticut Associate Head Basketball Coaches Chris Dailey and George Blaney; Tony Award-winning actor James Naughton; and UConn athletic director Warde Manuel.

“Our celebrity pro-am has become a staple and fan-favorite of the Travelers Championship, and we are very pleased to announce another great field,” said Travelers Championship Tournament Director Nathan Grube. “The pro-am is always an enjoyable experience for the participants and our fans, but we are most excited that these individuals decided to help us raise additional money for charity.”

In addition to golf, the tournament will host live radio broadcasts of WEEI’s “The Dennis & Callahan Morning Show” and WFAN’s “Mike’s On: Francesa on the Fan” from TPC River Highlands. The day will conclude with the Powerstation Events Concert Series, featuring Connecticut native Javier Colon in the SUBWAY® Fan Zone.

Tee times for the pro-am will be 6:50 a.m. to 8:50 a.m. and 11:50 a.m. to 1:50 p.m. The majority of celebrity guests will tee off mid-day, and exact tee times for each player will be announced on Monday, June 18.

The Travelers Celebrity Pro-Am is part of the weeklong Travelers Championship PGA TOUR event, which will be held June 18 to 24 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn."
