New Year Resolutions for 2013......with a completely NEW slant !!!

Hi folks and as we are now into 2013 and I have managed to get into MB's (couldn't last night - problems with laptop) have decided, whilst the going is good, to get this thread kicked off for another year.

Sylvie and I still believe we should follow same pattern as for last year with us setting ourselves targets of what we hope to achieve each month and of course, any number of resolutions can be followed each month as well as any number being carried over into the following month where it may end up becoming something that we want to achieve throughout the year but the main thing is that, what we set ourselves, we attempt to achieve and we lend our support to each other in trying to reach our goals.

Please consider joining us for a little bit of seriousness but Sylvie and I hope too, a huge lot of laughs throughout the year because that is, without doubt, the #1 Resolution of this thread, to have, FUN !! :)

We also believe that we should extend a very warm welcome to our very own "boss", Michael, for he has given us, so far, three of his own resolutions which he hopes to achieve this year and so we invite him to share with us on here how he is getting on achieving his goals and also, if he just wants a little bit of encouragement to keep going with his aims, we are here to support him and we want him to know that.   Also if he decides, at some point in time throughout the year, to set himself another goal he is more than welcome to share it with us on here and again, we will give him all the support he needs !! :)  Believe, more than appropriate to place Michael's 3 Resolutions on here along with pictures he sent and so here is the first........................

"New Year Resolution #1.  Spend lotsa time with Millie & Gwenny! MB" and the picture is a beautiful one of Michael standing at a patio door, at home in Westport, holding Amelia (Millie) in his arms and it was taken at same time as the beautiful one he sent of himself sitting at table working on book with Amelia dancing in background and in this one Michael is facing camera and he is holding Amelia, who is in profile, but the beautiful thing is she has a little back-pack strapped on and she has an arm up going across strap as though showing the world; "this is mine and your not getting it" or at least trying to keep it on her shoulder for it does look a little bitty big !! :)

"New Year Resolution #2.  Enjoy more golf with great buddies like Bruce & Dan. MB" and in this picture are the three of them along with, I believe MB's caddy, for it is an older picture and I am sure it is taken at one of the golf competitions and they are standing on one of the greens of the course.  I will check it out and find out exactly when taken once access into my files is a little bitty easier, safer and more guaranteed than of now !! LOL.

Now for Resolution #3........

"New Years Resolution #3.  Keep the reciprocal inspiration going with amazing artists like Melanie!" and this picture is a beautiful one of a close up, from waist, of MB and Melanie Fiona and Michael's smile is one of the widest and happiest that he gives and equally too, so is Melanie's......it is a beautiful picture !! :)

Here is #4......"New Year Resolution #4 continue to revel in all the greats who paved the paths. MB" and in this picture Michael is, I believe, in the Motown Museum for there are a couple of pictures on the wall and you can see a couple and I think, one is of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell and the other is of The Temptations and am now changing that thought for sure as I believe now it is in fact of Quincey Jones.....could be totally wrong, nowt new there then....and Michael is standing looking up towards what I would imagine is another picture you cannot see and at his back you can see part of a piano and that is what makes me think it is the Museum and it is the piano that was originally used in a lot of the Motown recordings and which was restored last year.

Now I believe we will have to wait for #5 and I am pretty certain there is going to be one and I wonder how many there could be in total.....7 ????? lol.    Must say that I do hope Michael isn't celebrating his 60th birthday this year by pulling a joke on us all with these resolutions for.....to date.....there have been 4 and we have another 56 days till the 26th February....56 + 4 = 60......coincidence ??????? LOL.    Obviously if anymore do appear I will place on here !!! :)

.........and #5 has just popped up and it is..............."New Years resolution #5 Dream bigger & bolder than ever!!" and the picture that goes along with is a wonderfully, stunningly, beautiful one and a view to get lost in anytime of the year !! :)    It is looking off into the horizon and is taken at sunset and you can see a little strip of land which is dark with palm trees on and there dark shadows creep up into the sunset and just before horizon is a strip of water and you are not half way up on the picture for the following section takes you onto the horizon where the sun is setting and what is captured there would stand alone as an absolutely beautiful picture for the sky is on fire and you can feel the heat, if any could be generated from it let alone the tremendous light shining out....I know I am letting my imagination run riot but I don't believe there would be many who wouldn't see something like that looking at something so beautiful.....and then the top half of the picture is of clouds appearing dark because of the sunset and they are of all various shapes and sizes with little whispy white ones too and in between them the brilliant blue sky shining through and in some respects it is like looking at day and night in the one picture for you have the brilliance of the sky above the clouds still bathed in sunshine with the land below entering night.  It is truly, truly gorgeous !! :)

We await #6 and I do not know how MB is going to top that one with the next photo !!! lol.

Hope you will all join in and more importantly, that you all enjoy this thread and cheers to you all for 2013 and may it prove to be one of the best years ever for us all with plenty of "Bolton Adventures" for us to share !! :)

Hey Sylvia, well at this point and time, I think you can only hope not to gain anything back. Sounds like you’ve been busy none the less, so it’s not like you’re sitting around eating Xmas goodies! :D  As a child, our decorations were put up no more than 3 or 4 days before Xmas, but since our family tree is so elaborate, I figure it might as well be worth the effort and make it last longer! XD  Good luck on maintaining and keep up the good work on holliday stuff Sylvia, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie QC Canada :D

P.S.: Thanks for pic description!

Hi Ladies, Sylvia the photo is pretty of your calendar and the ornament.  People here decorate early but I don't.. We are more old-fashioned that way.  When I was a kid we did not put the tree up till Christmas Eve. Dad cut a real one and it sat outside in a bucket of water for about a week, then we decorated and had a fun party at my neighbor's house that was a cousin in the family. That was a fun time back in the day.

Now we have artificial and no one really comes here but my parents and this time my BB's will see it since we are going to the concert a week before Christmas here..I will get it up about 2 weeks before Christmas. I don't like it too soon..I get that from my childhood of not putting one up till Christmas Eve.  And I hate the work and then the work taking it down after.I like it when it's up tho!! LOLL just the work involved sucks..

Happy Holidays to all of you.

Robin in MD:)

Actually give you a laugh about Christmas trees for when I was closing my blinds tonight house almost diagonally across from me has a huge tree lit and on other road which runs along top of mine one house has one window totally decorated with all lights.....looked lovely seeing them and made me feel I do want to get mine up now but still, somehow, feel it is too early.  Think as you say Robin it comes from childhood and buying the real tree which was never done earlier than the week before.

Our weather has to change a bit like Kathy's and start coming back down from the Arctic by Wednesday/Thursday with possibility of snow so maybe if it does happen I will be staying in and can get decorations looked out and up then....join the gang and be early this year !!!!! lol

I would happily send it to you right now if I could, Sylvia....LOL....I had to get my tree up....no other time before Christmas then I will come home on my MB cloud you know and won't touch a thing for days.....better get that tree up fast, Robin....LOL.....:))))))))))) Hugs,

Kathy T. :)

Hey Robin, oh I can understand not looking forward to all the work. Just getting the stuff from the crawl-space is something else! :DWe usually are 2 or 3 people decorating the tree here, playing Xmas music and just retelling stories attached to specific ornaments etc, I think it's fun, but I'm probably an overgrown elf! lol I think all in all, it's about our own family traditions, so either way, it's all good. Thanks for sharing Robin, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie QC Canada :D

I like your card, Sylvia, very pretty:)). Like you, Sylvia, most of my parcels shipped today, tree is up and decorated....looks beautiful and happy it is done. I would say you are making great progress and celebrating the holiday is fun work. It took a bit to pull the tree out....then I looked at it for several minutes......LOL...said okay here we go. Then before I knew it I was stooping, bending, stretching (excersise putting up a tree, ladies....LOL) and enjoying the final moment I could sit and finally admire it listening to MB sing Christmas songs from "This Is The Time" cd.
Robin, you have a very special reason for putting up your tree this year among others....BB's coming in to see it....wish I could be there too.....bet it will be especially beautiful this year...you have alot to celebrate sooooo put on MB and go for it ;))). A little tougher to stay in the Christmas spirit when we work but we can do it knowing we both have a Christmas concert to look forward to ;)).
I had a few slow moments at work so on here looking about but staying away from those videos still for now....LOL...HAPPY DECORATING TO ALL BB'S. Hugs,

Kathy T. :)

Well definitely nothing to report this week....haven't even got to gym.....too busy with Christmas preparations all round !!! lol   Still haven't completed putting up decorations for as per usual one fibre optic garland;  bulb gone and also been pouring of rain so much haven't managed to get all decorations out of shed as they are right at back and to locate means bringing some things out of shed so not quite weather to leave them on grass with rain teeming down:   hopefully today, which is much better, will finally get it done and get out shopping for that bulb and all the other odds and ends that always seem to pop up just when you think you have everything done and thought of !!!!! lol.

Hope things working out for everyone else whether personal stuff or Christmas stuff !!! :)

Talking of festive stuff here is little festive starter  for us all........animated picture of three gold bells with red ribbon, pealing away !!! :)

Hello, Sylvia,

here a carillon from Nuremberg (I lives in nearness).
The carillon kicks in the tower of the Nuremberg Frauenkirche every day at 12 o'clock at noon in action and the electors walk round three times the emperor. The piece of art is from 1509.
Particularly likes in the yule tide.

Petra Christine (Germany)

Hi Petra, thanks for sharing a little piece of German holliday time with us and thank you for the info about it, take care sweetie. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie QC Canada :D

Hi Petra

Thanks for sharing a part of Germany with us. I have always wanted to visit there, I even tried to study the language in High School and was in the German Club. Hope to go and see the beautiful country sides one day. The clock is beautiful!

Kellie

Hey Sylvia, what can I say? Uhm, congratulations on posting early this week? ;D Well hopefully, your Xmas activities kept you moving enough so it almost counted as going to the gym...I was catching up late last night andI couldn’t believe most posts were about the weather! It’s a funny winter we’re getting into. We only put up a wreath outside here, but all the decorations were put up inside last week. Good luck with your own, Sylvia. Well on my side, surprisingly, I was able to manage filing the box set this week and at least trimmed the reading pile, though the daily reading didn’t happen. Good habits are hard to take as bad habits are hard to break: that should be a bumpersticker... :D Well anyway, good luck getting something done this week Sylvia and thanks for your pic: I hear them play “We wish you a merry Xmas” in my head right now! :D Take care Sylvia and again, good luck and have a good week. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie QC Canada

Thanks very much indeed Petra for that video for that was lovely to see !! :)

Glad you continued to get things done Sylvie apart from decorations and if over next couple of days I get everything finished with mine I may just take myself along to gym come Thursday or Friday because our weather is fantastic  for after our storm we are back into spring.  We are getting our climate now coming up from the south not down from north as is usual so much so that yesterday there was a little group of pigeons out in my garden and there was the poor wee male doing his wee dance for the females who, needless to say, just looked at him and then flew away;  I tried to placate him by saying; "come on son, calm down, it is only December !!"......LOL
