Miscellany but exceptionally relevant information about, or from Michael on, MB.

Thought I would start this thread for there does appear, at times, to be different relevant articles, tweets, retweets, pictures etc relating to Michael but not really fitting into an already recognized thread nor, each of them individually, being able to be grouped together where a relevant thread could be started and so decided on this "Miscellany" thread.

I hope you agree with its relevance and that you enjoy everything that is put in as well as hoping that many will find interesting tidbits about Michael that can be included and help to make this, whilst a serious sharing of information, a FUN page to be able to visit too and, as is my intention, somewhere that everything which does not have a particular "home" can be placed, so that is all grouped together and can be easily found and located if someone wants to look at.

Here now, so that we can all focus on the main reason for this thread, is a beautiful picture of the "Theme" of the thread.......wonder if MB has ever been called that before ???? LOL.

Believe this one definitely belongs in here for I would say sharing with us that coconut sorbet is his favourite dessert is both miscellaneous and more than extremely relevant to the "THEME" of this website and in particular, to this thread  !! LOL.

Hope everyone enjoys content and feels free to add their very own miscellany !!! :)

He had a couple of older CDs out on the table. They said mugs were coming in, but the storm waylaid FedEx.

What he is signing is the cover of the Bonus Hits Live CD that came with the Hitsville album when it was first released at the Vegas show in 2012 and then which, later on, you could buy from one of the stores in the States...can't remember which one.  The cover doesn't have any photo of MB for it just has a large ornate pale gold "MB" and over that is written in gold "Michael Bolton : Bonus Hits Live"

I didn't buy that version if the bonus was stuff I already had. Thanks.

Robin in MD :)

Hi Sylvia and Robin, I believe it was the Wall-Mart exclusive that had bonus tracks, which were the tracks from "Vintage". The HSN CD had a bonus CD with live tracks taken from "Til the end of forever". Of course, no idea what they looked like. :D Take care ladies. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie Qc Canada :D

That is right Sylvie they were different and it was Wall-Mart forgot that....thanks !!! :)  The Bonus Hits Live has six tracks on it.

I have a question....did Ruki give you permission to post this picture here from her facebook?  I have a request in to her but haven't heard back. This is her personal picture and not one posted to Michael's public media so need to check first. If you did great...if not we need to take it down until we get permission. Thanks! Gail

PS...I know it says public on the picture but since it isn't something Michael has ok'd to put on his public site we need to ask her. I'll let you know what she says.

I got a response from Ruki on this picture. She said it is ok to share it....but she would appreciate anyone taking pictures from her page to please ask her first so she will feel comfortable to continue sharing them there.

I didn't take it from her site Gail she posted it on Twitter as a tweet and all tweets are out to the public.  If Ruki doesn't want that then she needs to change her settings and not have her FB account connected to her Twitter account.   I have just taken off pictures I posted on the Tour thread as Ruki has come onto me on Twitter about  They were posted by Chris Stylez and I told him, as I do with anyone who posts pictures to Twitter, that I am bringing over to MB's website, which I have been doing for a few years Gail because we discussed this and agreed it was a means of being courtesy but in actual fact it is not necessary because anything on Twitter is as out to the public as it is on this website.   I appreciated that one of the pictures Chris had published is of Ruki and therefore I said to her no problem in taking the pictures off but she is checking with Chris about posting to sites but as he has also posted one of the pictures to his FB page then I have changed my post to show that one picture.  I will say though that Ruki is wrong because if any picture is out to Twitter then it is out to the public and can be taken off of their and used anywhere.  Also too the pictures that Chris shared he had sent to Michael and that is why I also put in the message about bringing over to website so that Michael knows exactly what is coming over here

I would just like to add that Ruki did say in her tweet/ FB post that Michael has said "Hi" to his fans and if it was kept on Ruki's page how then was it going to be passed to Michael's fans; just another reason why I brought over here without any reservation as I thought she may have taken picture and posted on behalf of Michael when it contained a message from him.

Twitter and Facebook is public!

Everyone has the ability to block his account!

Should we ask every single person before we post articles or photos?

Sad discussion!

It confuse me very! :(

Petra (Germany)

If someone takes a picture and posts it to Facebook or Twitter ...even if it is public..it was put there for the people who read their accounts to see. If you are going to take that picture and post it somewhere else...that they aren't aware of you should ask permission. The pictures that Michael posts to his facebook or twitter have already been established ok to use on his site or your facebook to pass on the word.  Someone like Ruki...posted the picture to those who visit her facebook or twitter site...the public can see it true but if you are taking it somewhere else she has asked for you to get her permission which I'm sure a lot of other people would also like you to do.  I know some of you who have pulled pictures from twitter to post here that were posted by other fans have asked their permission to post here so you do understand what is being asked.  Most people don't mind but they would like to be asked.

Petra, I'm not talking about news photos or articles and most of those a link is posted...I'm talking about individual people such as Ruki.

Thank you for the clarification, Gail! I will to observe myself!

Anyway, we are here in a forum and have not evil intensions!

I think and hope most people outside of forum know this and not discuss!

Thanks Gail !! :)

I should like to take opportunity to clarify, for everyone, what I do and why I do what I do, with "new" pictures posted on either, Facebook or, Twitter.

On Facebook I do not take pictures and put anywhere those that are posted by my "friends" other than by using the "share" facility that exists on Facebook.  I do not and cannot see a case in the future when I would ever want to bring any pictures that my "friends" post on Facebook over to here because the majority of my "friends" who post pictures know that this site exists and that they are free to post those pictures themselves.  The only exception to this rule is that I have Jason Peterson DeLaire's permission to post any picture he puts out on Twitter to this site, if I so wish.   I have, in the past, also had other band members permission to post their pictures because I sought their permission and they, like Jason, gave me blanket approval.  Photos I bring over here from Facebook without gaining permission are those that venues put out on their own Facebook pages and which are out to the "public" or, those that other celebrities post, either on their own pages or, pages they have specifically for photos, which they have classed as "public".  A further clarification on "celebrities" is, where I take photos from their Facebook pages, I ALWAYS post a comment telling them I am taking the photo(s) to Michael Bolton's website.  I have, as yet, to have one ask me not to.  The majority either respond favourably, thanking me personally or, classify my post as "like" which, I believe, is tacit to agreement to what I have done.

On Twitter I only access pages which are directly related to Michael.  I do not go onto individual pages of either people I follow or, those that follow me, looking for pictures.   I have three means which I use to look for pictures with the first being accessing Michael's own account.  There I look at his "tweets", "tweets and replies" and those tweets he has chosen to "favourite".   If within his "tweets" section he has "retweeted" a photo or, has published one himself, them I use that freely.   If within his "tweets and replies"  and "favourites" there is a photo which I believe fans on here might like to see (clarification: I don't use them all automatically) I then add a tweet telling the person, who has sent it to Michael, I am taking it to his website.  The other means I have of locating pictures is by going to a page which all those on Twitter, who have verified accounts, have and what it shows is each and every tweet published on Twitter which either contains the account's handle or, the name they are registered under, on Twitter.  On those pages you have the facility to split into two distinct pages, i.e. one containing only the account handle and the other containing the registered name and that is why I state "three" means of locating pictures as I have this page split for ease of access. For each and every picture I want to use which are on these pages I post a tweet to the person stating that I am taking over to Michael's website.  If the tweet comes solely from the page which contains only the registered name, i.e "Michael Bolton" and not Michael's handle I then include Michael's handle in my reply tweet so that he can see exactly what is being brought over to his website, thereby giving, not only the person publishing photo opportunity to ask that it not be taken to Michael's website, but Michael himself, the opportunity to say he does not want it on his website.  I have never been requested to not use a picture but on occasion I have been asked to ensure I give credit to the person whose photo it is.  On the question of credit because I always attempt to give that to people, I can let you know that I have seen pictures on Twitter, which I have not used, because the person's handle is one I would not publish on this site as some do contain, rather "nasty", words.

A little bit of history I believe is necessary to explain to you all why I do not specifically ask "permission" but state I am taking to Michael's website.   When I started using photos from Twitter I was "green" and just took because I believed Twitter to be a facility completely and utterly open to the public.  I did not, as I do now, understand the difference between Twitter, Facebook and a website, in as much as, to access anything on Twitter and Facebook, you have to be a member of those sites whereas, on a website, you need not be a member to see all that is published.  I would say because of the enormity of Facebook and Twitter, with their membership numbers, it is now becoming a very mute point of distinction but legally, it still does exist.  It arose that someone (too far back for me to remember who) made a comment about my bringing photos over here, if you like, "willy nilly".   It was suggested, when I wanted to use photos, I ask the person's permission and that I started to do and did so for approximately a year.   It arose that there was one photo published on Twitter which I asked the person's permission to bring over here and that person had used Michael's handle, I did not have to include it in my response, but the person never responded to my request.   The photo was of no significance whatsoever for it was a photo solely of Michael on stage singing and as the person didn't respond to me I was on point of forgetting about and crossing off of a list I used to keep of those I had asked permission from.  I kept a list because when the photos were published I lifted them and placed them in an album marked "awaiting authorisation to use" so that I did not have to go searching for photos when person came back to me, which could have been a few days after first publication, with their permission.   On this occasion, it was exactly five days since I had tweeted and asked permission for use of photo, when suddenly Michael himself retweeted it and I, therefore, had his direct permission to use it.  I do not believe Michael retweeted because he particularly wanted the photo to be published but because he knew I had asked permission and the person had ignored my request and he had given them sufficient time in which to acknowledge that request.  It also made me aware Michael was reading my tweets and although I continued, for a while longer, to still seek permission from people, I became aware that by doing so, what was being created were, what I felt, an unnecessary amount of tweets to Michael.  It was then I decided to adopt the policy of, instead of always asking permission, which in itself gave the other person extra work if their full intention from beginning was that their photo could be used, to giving them the option of coming onto me and asking me not to use, by letting them know I was taking to Michael's website.  I started doing that approximately 3 year's ago and since I have received, on more than one occasion, a "thank you" from Michael in relation to what I do I take that as being his permission and agreement.   I should also say I have never, to date, had anyone come onto me and ask me not to use a photo, quite the reverse, with many actually taking the time to thank me or, use the facilities on Twitter to either "favourite" my tweet or, to "retweet", my tweet.   At this point, solely for information, Chris Stylez, whose photos I used and the use of which was questioned, has since answered my tweet favourably as well as chosing to "favourite" and "retweet", therefore, without doubt, I have his permission to use photos.

I apologize if, in the opinion of some, I have exceeded good grace by writing at the length I have done, in my explanation but as, obviously, I have been the one singled out because either, the history of, or, of how I conduct myself on this website is not known by everyone, then I feel I have the right to state my case.

I have always attempted to conduct myself in a courtesy and respectful manner, not only because that was the way my parents brought me up, but because that is ME and to have an insinuation made I might not be doing that, quite frankly, hurts.

Sylvia.  Your wee Scottish friend.
