Fake account

Hi,
Has anybody had this experience? I received a friend request from Micheal Bolton, and I immediately confirmed this. Just about 5minutes ago I had a messenger notification which was from this person. He thanked me for liking his page (making me believe it was Micheal) and asking if he can rely on me to handle an important project for him.
It's about real estate business regarding $300,000,00.
This is not right, and presume it's illegal as well

Just wanted to let you all know that this particular site is now down. That doesn't mean another will not follow. If any of you get a message from another one or see one, please send it to me at boltoninfo@aol.com with the link to the site. The direct link to Michael's facebook is www.facebook.com/mbsings ...he only has the one so any other one is not his. Michael's is also a band site where you like it rather than friend it...so watch for that as well. Thanks! Gail

Hi Ruth and welcome to the forum and unfortunately there are a couple of false pages on FB at the moment.  One of them is the one you have mentioned asking for personal details and Gail is aware that this is on the go again.   It is unfortunate and there are a lot of people who have friended them believing it is Michael Bolton but I just hope no one gets caught and can see through the scam immediately but of course if you want to believe Michael would get it touch with you and ask for help then it is difficult to tell and convince yourself that it is not him.  It is an ongoing thing for it seems almost as soon as one is shut down another one pops up in its place and they are quite difficult to track.  Thanks for coming in to make us aware of what is happening and thinking of us all.....thank you !!! :)

Hi Ruth, welcome to the forum. I also received a friend request yesterday from someone pretending to be Michael Bolton. Remembering that Gail warned us about it last year, I clicked on DELETE REQUEST. It is so unfortunate that there are scammers out there who will stoop so low!! Take care.

I have received this in the past when I signed up on this site, I freak out when I get weird stuff and took care of the emails, it was a least 5 of them in the real estate business and the executor of a will...... whatever.!  People have lots of time for silly stuff.   thx for the heads up !, Usha , Mississauga, Ontario Canada

Hi, I too had friend request from Michael. He thanked me for liking his music and then asked to do an important project. Also involving money.
Will block him now. But it is still happening.

Hello everyone.  This continues to happen and we are taking down the fake accounts as soon as we can.  The problem is some fans get excited when they get what looks like a message from Michael and they start messaging with them.  Before you know it they are asking for money for one reason or another and some fans thinking it is really MIchael have sent money to the address given and they are now out that money.  It is upsetting to them and to Michael and he has his staff trying to keep up with it along with everything else to take them down.  Please remember Michael will never ask his fans for money and his site has a blue circle with a white check showing it is official.  The others don't have this official symbol.  If you get these requests, please either post them here or send the info to me at boltoninfo@aol.com so I can get it to the people on Michael's staff who are working to take these down.  Thanks!

Thanks Gail,  I think they are really clever and know MB is touring the UK so fans are super excited and unfortunately may get carried away thinking it is him.  Keep up the good work.

Hi Theodora and WELCOME to the forum !!! :)   

There are still plenty of false pages keeping cropping up.   As long as the scammers keep getting an audience they will not give up.  Just have to try and take down as quickly as they post them and just hope no one gets caught any more with the scams...... that is all we can do !!!
