Spam

I know you have all noticed the spammers lately. I've been suspending as fast as I can but they come back under another name.  I have found the site they are sending us to and have reported them and asked for it to stop.  Hopefully they will comply...if not all I can do is keep suspending.  Sorry for any inconvenience.  Gail

Hi Jennifer, thanks for asking. You see, when I tried to sign up on this site by myself, all my Jaws screen-reader read is that we had 3 words to copy, but it didn’t read any instructions. In 11 years since I’ve been on the computer, it happened once that I encountered something similar to what you’re describing, but there were actual written instructions on how to do it. Hi Everyone,

 

Does anybody feel like I do - sort of itchy twitchy - some strange things going on .........we've got a guy who wants to "gossip" about Michael - opens two sections for it .....going to supply pictures......no pictures as yet (only mine being something or other towards his) and THEN there is a section started by a  Chinese fellow from China but, you can't reply, because the "discussion has been closed" - did someone close it - for what reason??  I don't feel very comfortable.  One or two other little things in my mind that just don't quite gel - is somebody, perchance, looking for information or, at least, hoping to find information - or, am I just being too suspicious - reading too much James Patterson, Patricia Cornwall, John Grisham - I don't know - just got an itchy/twitchy feeling !!!!

Hi Sylvia, I believe it is an option to close out comments on discussions: check it out when you start one. About your second question, I've responded to you in a PM about it. And about your cauldron, ah-ha, I knew you made your own home-brew of ouzo and now you admit it! lol All the real spam we've had so far was from a pharmaceutical company sweetie, no big masterplan to drive you nuts... yet! Hi Sylvia,

concerning the chinese fan and his closed discussion, probably he wanted to protect himself - if he closed his discussion deliberately and voluntarily. If you think of restricted oppurtunities for chinese people, probably he was very brave to send such a personal message into the world. Think of Mariu and her report of her governments limitations to internet, facebook etc. By the way, do you/ does somebody know how she is doing?

 

Sorry if I fed your suspicious mind :-). I learned to believe in intuition. Guess, Scotland is a perfect place to develope such abilities ...

I did think about that one.......being from China and also he appeared to be in a university whilst posting - hope he closed it down voluntarily!

 

Mariu has posted comments this year but haven't been aware of anything for past week.

 

Yeh, Scotland,  just the place for awe the wee ghoulies and ghosties..........in an' oot oor wee glens an' up and doon oor wee bens - och aye the noo  - gang aft a' glae and lang mae y'r lum reek!!!!!

It was as much rubbish as the "spams" themselves - not worth complete translation - except last little  bit "lang mae y'r lum reek" - the meaning of that phrase is to wish someone "all good fortune in their life" as I wish everyone!

Seen/heard our latest "spams" .....one from Christian....all the way from Azerbaijan....not think he should go back there and try and catch a bullet between his teeth....that would keep him better occupied....NO !!!!!!!!!!!

There is more spam lined up - stuff from Jaden and Kevin.....can be found by going into Members.....it is already printed in there.....there is a possible Michelle as well - although possibly, unfortunatley, she has just come in in between - told you last night I felt itchy/twitchy!!!!!!!!!   So sorry Gail, you are the one getting the headache with it all, when it hasn't been stopped - wish to God there was something we could do to help.....I suppose all we can do is thank you again, and again for all you do! - THANKS!

Doing what I can.  I've suspended a number this morning...no guessing on your parts though because you may catch someone who isn't spam...just hasn't posted yet. ;)   I saw the closed discussion but it wasn't closed until a number of replies...I reopened it and if there is a problem with that will the person who started it contact me.  If you are going to close a discussion due to a problem posted above then it should be deleted not just closed after a few posts unless it is actual information being posted and needed...make sense? I've deleted duplicate threads when I find them as well.  I used to be able to combine but this forum doesn't have that option so if you post duplicate threads and they are actually about the same thing I will delete one.

There have indeed been some strange goings on around here.

 

I've noticed that some members join only to complain, whilst others only post when there is a compettion going on.

 

Thats the beauty of this site though, we can dip in and out as we please and we're always made welcome.

 

On the last forum, I think I clocked up over a thousand posts in a very short amount of time, but that didnt make me any more of a fan than someone who only posted ten or twenty times. It just means I have more time on my hands and can talk for Emgland!! Ha Ha!

 

Some fans post every day and only have absolute rubbish to say, whilst others only post every now and then, but have very interesting and valid comments to make. I like to think of my self as being somewhere in the middle? I hope? Ha Ha!!

 

I've noticed a few new fans names from China cropping up and hope that they will join in, but if English isnt a second language for them, they may not be able to. Perhaps they join the forum in order to feel closer to Michael now that he has performed in China. Perhaps they join, but are too scared to post anything due to the restrictions that have may have been applied in their country. I hope this isnt the case for them.

 

Regarding Mariu, I havent seen her post on here since 31st December. I hope that she is ok and all is well with her. I've sent her messages but havent had any replies. Hopefully, it is nothing serious going on and it is just that she is busy.

About discussion that was closed - it was a Chinese fellow and he appeared to be in a university....when I went in he had replied 30 minutes before...and at that point everything was closed - so whether he did voluntarily - not appreciating exactly what to do - or if the authorities cottoned on to what he was doing and they closed it down, obviously, don't know, unless he comes back again!

 

Thanks for getting rid of the rubbish - once again !!!!!   You would really think folks would have better things to do..... wonder if they get paid, in some way, for putting stuff like that in in places....it just seems so pointless....even if it was something with a political message or something....OMG just forget it , eh!!!!!!!!!!
