She said yes.

How could she not?

With her boyfriend, Jeff Hales, on bent knee in front of the crowd of approximately 2,500 at the Crown Coliseum, and Kenny G. himself playing a special song for the couple, Joanna Loresto said yes.

Hales didn't have the ring; it was being cleaned. But he did have a one-of-a-kind saxophone designed by Kenny G., which Hales won in a special drawing during the concert.

"This was totally spontaneous," said Hales. "I was looking for a big, romantic way to propose - a big moment. And when Kenny G. called out my ticket number, I just knew - it was meant to be."

Hales, a self-described romantic, attended the concert with Loresto and members of her family. No one saw this coming, not even Loresto, who shed joyful tears.

"I've read a lot of stories about great proposals," said Loresto. "This will be with us forever; it's our sign to be together."

Hales had tried to talk with concert organizers about his proposal plans, but to no avail. His hopes were crushed, but only momentarily.

When Kenny G. announced during his set that he'd be giving away a saxophone to one lucky person, Hales sprinted - literally - to find out how to enter the drawing.

All he had to do was buy a pair of Kenny G. CDs, which he did after racing to an ATM.

When the drawing was held, Hales' hopes were temporarily crushed again - another number was called out first.

"I couldn't believe that no one showed up to claim the ticket," said Hales.

Even Kenny G. was perplexed.

"This is the first time this has ever happened when we do this," said the saxophonist.

After what must have been several agonizing minutes for Hales, Kenny G. drew another number. It belonged to Hales, who leapt from his seat immediately with a triumphant shout before gently escorting Loresto onstage to collect the saxophone. Hales gave high-fives to crowd members along the way.

He knew what he had to do.

"What better way to propose than this? I knew I had to do it," said Hales. "I'm a romance guy, and with Kenny G. and Michael Bolton both performing tonight and winning the saxophone ... it's just wow!"

"This guy asked if he could get on stage and I said there was no way," Kenny G. joked to the crowd. "And here he is!"

The only way the evening could have topped itself was if a pregnant woman suddenly went into labor and Michael Bolton delivered the baby.

While that didn't happen, Bolton and Kenny G. did deliver several crowd-pleasing hits over the course of their two-hour-plus performance, the first stop of their first collaborative tour together in more than 20 years.

Kenny G. performed "Songbird," while Bolton's set included Otis Redding's "(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay," "Love Is Everything," "To Love Somebody," and many more, to which the crowd eagerly sang along.

"You sound great out there, Fayetteville," said Bolton. "Feel free to take over whenever you want."

Hales already had.

"We'll be talking about this for the rest of our lives," said Hales.

Judging by the couple's sudden long line of congratulatory well-wishers, it's safe to say that many others will be talking about the concert, too
