Hi Sarah, I don't know your story sweetie but I'm sorry to hear about your mom... I'm really happy for you that you find comfort in Michael's music and I'm especially glad that your mom passed that on to you... I'm pretty sure it would be the same with my 4 kids if something happened to me and my eldest daughter's name is Sarah too. Do you mind if I ask your age? Just curious. My Sarah's 25. So you want to discuss how Michael makes us feel? :D Where do I begin? lol I'll have to gather my thoughts and get back to you on that. Well, since I haven't seen you before here, I'll bid you a warm welcome! Take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Hi Sarah, so sorry abour your Mum. My mum died over 17 years ago and I still miss her more than anything to this very day. Michael and his music for me and the words in those songs, doesn't always make me happy. There are some songs in there that relate to my life past and present but that's what I like about him (besides him himself!!!!) is the fact that he does sing everyday songs that everyone in every different circumstance can relate to and you can understand every word he sings which is very unusual in this day and age with all the "boy" bands we seem to have around screaming into a microphone, although I just absolutely adore Westlife and their songs. I went to see them when they came out to Australia but nothing compares with the Michael Bolton concert I saw 15 odd years ago. He was great then and I was on a high for weeks. I'm glad though that Michael's songs are a great comfort to you. I know from experience that you can hear one particular song that Michael sings and it will bring back all memories good or bad I suppose. I hope most people have extra good memories and you my dear keep having those extra good memories of your mum and enjoying Michael's music. I can't wait to see him in three days. Love and keep your chin up from Pam in Australia.
Thank you ladies for welcoming me to this site I know by chatting on here makes me happy and I know it would make my Mum happy, answer to some of the questions yes I have seen Michael 5 times in concert, I am 33 from London UK, I made a mistake on last nights comments my Mum passed 11 years ago not 1 but still miss her like crazy that's why this forum will help a great deal thanks again ladies looking forward to some great chats xxxx
Oh Sarah 5 times you lucky duck. I bet he was great every time. He is so natural and down to earth. As I said I can understand about your mum mine will be 18 years gone this November and I miss not having her to talk to we used to get on so well together and had the same interests etc. She would have been at the Michael Bolton concert if she was still here. We used to go and see all the English bands together. Have been going to see The Searchers when they come out here every year, love them.

Take care and talk to you later. THREE MORE SLEEPS!!!!!!

Cheers Pam x

Hi Sarah,

First of all, welcome to the forum! You're in great hands here! Secondly, so sorry to hear about the passing of your Mum. You and her were obviously very close.

It seems as though MB is the same for you as he is for me. My brother and I call him our Soul Food! He has been there for me since I was 11 (the release of Soul Provider in the UK), providing comfort, inspiration and joy all this time. A father figure! I've seen him live in every tour since the Time, Love & Tenderness World Tour at Wembley Arena in '91.

When my Mum and Father split, he was there for me (When I'm Back On My Feet Again was so big for me), was there for me when my Grandpa passed away in 2008. The music makes me soar, his voice, that familiar tone, just touches me like no other, takes me to a place that's full of passion, strength, comfort, motivation, joy......a place that's home.

Now my 4 year old boy loves him and his favourite tracks are Just One Love, Steel Bars and The Best!!! I'm taking my partner, Jen, to Cardiff in November to see him, it will be the first time she's seem live and since we got together she has been wonderfully surprised at how diversely talented our man is, just how many genres he crosses. She loves the new album and the arias!

When we marry, he will be there too!

Soul Food!!

James
Thanks for sharing all your stories....Sarah, Welcome and I too am sorry for the loss of your mom. My mom has gone with me to a few shows over the years and also to a record signing. She's gotten his autograph and shook his hand at a stage door also. It was fun taking her the trips she went with me to see him..She thanked him for a few things too, one being I can now drive almost anywhere after seeing him so much over the years in concert in different cities around the NorthEast of the USA!!LOL

Michael's music gets people through the hard times, adds to the great times, same for me here at different times of my life. I truly understand all that you guys have posted. My husband has gone with me to see MB back in the earlier years of my going in the 1990's and he still likes some of his music today also.

My grandmother used to like his music too and would tell me about "that man that you like" was on this TV show or that TV show. She's now ill and in a nursing home and has no memory of that but before she was ill she in her own way enjoyed him too when she saw him on TV.

Michael's music is special as he is in how through his music he touches so many people's lives in a very positive way. I don't think he realizes how much....

Thanks for sharing!
Robin
Hi again Sarah, I’m back. First of all, thank you so much for starting this thread! Everyone’s story, including yours Sarah, is poignant in their burst of emotion and I’m sure that if Michael reads this, it’ll mean a lot to him… Well, here’s my story… As a child, I was always a shy, introverted girl with very little confidence. My mom used to sing all the time and taught me the love of music and singing. I discovered that I loved singing and sang everything I heard on the radio. It made me feel alive and worthy when I sang, because I duplicated faithfully what I heard and just the feeling of expressing myself with outside approbation gave me a high I couldn't get anywhere else. It’s kind of like flying with Superman, you know what I mean? Over the years, I've had a lot of musical crushes, but I can honestly say that when I heard "When I'm back on my feet again", I fell in love! Lol Michael’s beautiful voice, his unique and passionate delivery and soulful phrasing was almost too much to fit in my head. And emoting as he does with him just brings the best feelings out, you know what I mean? Anyway, then I discovered how much he loved music and delighted in how he spoke about it in such detail and he opened up so many doors to me to learn about more genres and artists, feeding my curiosity and teaching me more of what I craved for. I guess I felt like he became a friend to me. I'm interested in everything he says and remember his interviews as if he were talking to me personally. In the early 90’s, he used to say he wanted us to take him personally…  Music is like oxygen to me and sharing that with him is simply the ultimate best. :D I hope everyone who reads this thread joins in, this is fun! Lol Thanks again very much Sarah and rejoice in the feeling that we all know how you feel… Hope you and your brothers get to see him again this year. Take care and God bless you. Big hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
Hi all, I was thinking this morning, after I said that I think Michael would love to read our stories… Rocio Fernandez started a similar topic on the previous forum and the admin posted it again here. It’s called “What has Michael Bolton done for you”. She mentioned she wanted to put the responses on her website michaelboltonthevoice.com and put them together in a book to present to Michael. Maybe this book should be called “Voices of our hearts”, what do you think? Just a thought… Take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
Welcome Sarah..I am so sorry about your Mom..I can truly relate to your passion for Michael's music in regards to your Mom..I was in a similiar situation 2 years ago when my Grandmother passed away..and now dealing with my Mom's life threatening illness...My theme song is Go The Distance...
Sylvie..I love your idea of putting all our stories together for a book for Michael..I am quite certain he would love that..I know I have been trying to figure out how to have 5 minutes of his time to thank him and let him know my story..what a great idea!!! Like you Sylvie, music has been my oxygen...
Sarah..it is so good to have you here..there are great people here!!
