Hi everyone,

I think enough of us are watching American Idol (AI) to make this thread worthwhile. So I am taking Sylvie from Canada's suggestion to move it from New Tour Reviews 2011 and give it it's own thread here in Off Topic. Since tonight starts the top 11 voting, it's getting interesting and a good time to start talking about it.

I have been a fan since it started 10 years ago. Hard to believe it's been on that long, not many TV shows last that long. So to anyone watching: "who is your favorite?"

Very interesting Joy. I am sure all their emotions are riding high at this point! I would have lost my mind by now if it were me !!!! I wish them all luck :)

Yes, they must all be emotional wrecks, mixed in with the excitement and highs they get from the live performances.  I like James a lot, he very well may end up winning.  This article shows he is not "full of himself" or stuck up.  He sometimes is hard to watch as he has tourette's syndrome and makes faces and grimaces quite often.  And he is not that good looking, but he changes when he sings.............no faces, and his emotions all go into his song.  He comes up with all the ideas on what he sings, props, dancers etc.  He is not stupid and he knows who he is.  He is a "real" person, not a perfect good looking hollywood boy.  I think the voters like him and want him to go far. Just the fact that he is still there shows America does not always vote based on looks.

BTW, have a great time at your 2 concerts!

Also if your hubby is interested in Bruce history, show him the post I put in above.

James Durbin (American Idol)

James also has Aspergers Syndrome which is a type of autism I believe.  This young man has overcome a lot to be where he is and I also think he is fantastic!!
Gail,
I looked up and yes he has both syndromes........amazing that he has dealt with Idol having these problems.
His dealings with national media, he said, have focused largely on one of two subjects: his struggles with Tourette's and comparisons to 2009 ''Idol" runner-up Adam Lambert. He's been approached by the families of others with Asperger's and Tourette's. He has also dealt with speculation of how he might handle the high-pressure and high-profile situations that come with being on one of America's most highly rated shows.

"The thing about Asperger's is that it's about social awkwardness, and not being able to contain yourself and being overwhelmed in social situations," he said. ''I'm just so busy that there's no time to be overwhelmed. I'm enjoying it and I'm not looking at it as work. I'm just having tons of fun."

Oh wow Gail, you watch AI too? That's great! I remembered about James' 2 syndromes and I think it's fabulous that he's doing so well and no excuses need to be made for him and he's handled it very well so far. Thanks for sharing sweetie, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Hi Gail and Iconic Joy!  Aspergers is on the Autism spectrum. Most of these people are VERY bright. There is a young man in my son's Phd. program at UCLA who has Aspergers and does well with the help of his aide. I ENJOY the distinctive personalities of artists like James!!! Tough if people can't deal with his tics...their problem...get over it!! You KNOW Simon Cowell would have sent James home a long time ago!!! No cookie cutter artists for me...BORING!!!

My review is in ladies...enjoy :)

Ah Joy, thank you so much for posting this article! I’m not surprised at all that  James is this emotional. We’ve seen it in the segment presenting him, the first time he was on Idol, with his baby. I loved his voice, but he got me when he got emotional singing “Dream on” to Steven in the audition… I thought: here’s a guy who sings with his heart! Wow, what a nice description of the action results night: I felt like I  was there… What a way to go out for Stefano! :D Who knew James and he were so close? It’ll be nice for them to tour together this summer! Thanks again for sharing Iconic Joy, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Hey to All:)!

OK, were down to 6 on Idol I do believe! This is getting intense! My question is, who will go home this week?

Care to share your opinions?  I really would love to see our Michael on there, even if he were just in the audience, it would

be Great! Have a great day today & everyday!

Mary (M&M's)!

I don't know if any of you were watching Idol tonight but the guitar player for Michael last year (sorry can't remember his name right now) was sitting on the stage steps playing for her.  Gail

Was this during the country duet with Scotty and Lauren tonight? Or was he playing for Lauren or Haley when they sang separately?

Glad I am not the only one forgetting names. Do you mean the latin looking guitar player with long hair... he used to wear a pony tail? I don't remember his name either :/

I bet the  2 Robins can remember...hey you two....we need help again!!! lol  Let's see what happens Gail!!!!

My vote off would be Jacob ...M&M's.....jmo....:)

Kathy and LAFD Bob
