Hi everyone, I’ve been meaning to start a thread for this probably since last year, but since this old one is available, I thought I’d revive it instead. I thought it would be fun to share our favourite, non MB related Christmas music. I was thinking we could share favourite songs or favourite albums and maybe we could throw in why they’re our favourites.
I’ll start with my own short list... ;D
-Louis Armstrong “Z’at you Santa Claus?”, just because it’s such a fun song
-Nat King Cole “Away in a manger”, sung with a choir is absolutely gorgeous
-Tony Bennett “Santa claus is coming to town, because Tony is the only guy I know who can sing “Rooty toot toot” and still sound cool! lol
-Boys II Men “Silent night”, sung acapella, it’ll give you goosebumps
-Ray Charles with “Rudolph, the red-nozed reindeer”, Ray sounds like he’s telling us a story about his buddy Rudolph… :D
“Mary did you know” by Mr Michael Crawford, beautiful song, vulnerable rendition
“The 12 days of Xmas”, sung by John Denver & the Muppets, cute version
(I also like the Bob & Doug McKenzie version)
-Wham! With “Last Christmas”, nice modern day classic
-“You’re a mean one, Mr Grinch”, original version
-Stevie Wonder’s “Someday at Christmas”, sweet inspirational song
-U2’s “(Christmas) Baby please come home”, in my opinion, the best version
-“Happy Xmas” by John Lennon, no comment necessary
-Josh Groban “Believe”, beautifully sung, family memories
Marvin Gaye “Purple snowflake”, untraditional but so beautifully sung
I have oodles of Christmas CD’s and could recommend 2 or 3, XD but I’d love to hear about other people’s favorites. Please feel free to make lists too. Take care and hugs to all, sincerely, Sylvie Qc Canada :D
