Brainstorming for our Michael's birthday
Hi everyone, well this is my first attempt at starting a discussion so hope I’m doing this right... :D . A couple of weeks ago, I asked Gail when she thought would be a proper time to start thinking of what we fans want to do for our Michael’s 60th birthday. She said she was out of ideas, but suggested I’d start a thread asking fans for suggestions. I figure we have exactly 4 months, starting today, to come up with something fun and get mobilised to achieve it. I’m no organizer, I just thought we could share ideas so let’s put our heads together and see what we can come up with! :D Take care and hugs to all, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada J
*The 2 most popular suggestions so far are:
- individual donations to michaelboltoncharities.com, mentionning they are made in honor of Michael’s birthday, of any amount you feel comfortable with.
-a collective wall-hanging made from personalized fabric squares sent by fans that will be stitched together. The 4 inch/10 cm squares (with small blank margin) only need have your signature and location but can be crafty as you are able. For
more info, ask here, or PM either me, or Amie Angeli who will be doing the stitching and presenting the finished product to our Michael.
**Note: The final deadline for recieving fabric squares is February 15th, so you don't have much time left. :D

Hey To All:)!
While Meghan & I were at Bingo last night, I was telling her about this, and since she is a chicken, I'm gonna tell you what her idea was...it really is a good idea, too:)!
She makes these CD type things that alot of people use for Funeral...where you put in Pix & Music..and make a little slideshow! Now this I think would be Sylvia's cup of tea...if she's up for the challenge! We'd have to pick the songs & send her our pix then she would scan them, and make him a Birthday CD!
What do you think Sylvia, you up for this challenge? LOL! I like the quilt of patches, but I would definitely need instructions...LMBO! And the Donations to his Charity would just be icing on his cake:)!

Hi Mary, I know what you mean: I think it's a DVD that basically says "This is your life". It's a great idea Mary and I hope that if Meg makes them, that she will make one for Michael. The glitch with wanting it to be a collective gift is that I think it would take too long to all agree on which pics and songs we could all agree on, since we all have our faves. Hey Sylvie, This would have to be pix of All of his fans, and then of course a little bit of Home, and his pix with friends as well! Meghan could do it but I really thought our friend across the Pond would have alot of Fun putting it together...and if anyone wanted a personal copy...well then they'd have to send donations to his Charity to get one..Right? Like I said this was just Meg's idea, she has sooo much on her plate..I don't know if she could do it...come on Sylvia, you know you'd want to put that pix of Erin Brockavich in there somewhere:)! LOL!
We still have plenty of time! Glad you liked her idea, now I have to go text her & tell her!

I have to be honest Mary and say I am not too sure what is you are meaning but if, as I think it is, that it would entail creating a video of music and showing pictures to go with the music and then transferring that onto a DVD I really do believe that would take a special programme and I do not have access to anything like that.....I do not have a video making programme on my laptop and the way in which I have made a couple of videos for youtube has been pretty basic stuff and ones where I am restricted to using only the one photo as I have basically turned a room in my home into a recording studio using my very, very old tape/CD/record player deck and one photo of Michael !!! LOL. I thank you for suggesting me and believing in me so much Mary but this time I definitely have to disappoint and say no way could achieve something like that !! lol.

RE: 4-inch fabric square "patches" if we decide to do "Michael's Fans Wallhanging" - I'd have people mail me a 4" square of fabric. Could be from the dress you wore to your first MB concert, or embroider something on it, or sign it with Magic Marker as a "fabric-card," or use textile paints to "paint" your fave MB song, applique a souvenir from a concert you attended or your fave CD, or whatever your brain cooks up! Just remember a bit along the edges (at least 1/4" on each side) gets used for the seam to sew them together, so leave at least a 1/4" margin all the way around.
I have PO Box, therefore address I can give out to mail in the patches, and it won't cost anymore than to mail an ordinary letter since small piece of fabric is so lightweight. Cheers to all & a bientot to Sylvie - Amie

To be honest. I am a bit mad at Michael I gave him after the concert ( per an user) a hat. It was a golf hat that said Hole in One.He made a hole in one golfing; you heard about that ?? No one let me now if he received it. That hat was one of 3 left from a company my dad started in the 70's. I still would like to know if he received it. If he does not acknowledged our thoughts, why should I trust him. I wrote Gail once and she never got back to me either >>. I feel like my comments just flow with the wind and no one reads or cares about them. But for Michael 60 birthday. Is it in a gift form and we mail it to Gail and she gives it to Michael.I say a new sports jacket. Something besides black. On the internet ? Have Maria do one of her specialty cards. Both. Where is Gail Ct or New York City. Such mystery for being a f an club..

Sharonrose,Really? Come on how can you possibly be mad at Michael? Or Gail? You didn't actually give the hat to Michael? Sorry, but that happened to me and I was not going to just leave it with someone else. You have no way of knowing where it ended up.And I do know exactly how you feel. Someplace on the site I talked all about my hat that I had special made for him, was not able to give it to him up at the stage or after waiting for him at the stage door after the show either. I was upset and very disappointed, but things don't always work out. I did have another Bolton Buddy give it to him when she met him at a meet and greet. Of course he told her to tell me thank you, but that's all I got out of it. I know he got it, briefly looked at it and that's it. MB is so busy with traveling etc. and get's so many gifts from fans, there is no way he or administration can possibly keep track of all of them or acknowledge all of them.And you have to realize you probably will never get a direct reply from Michael. We would all love that!! Gail probably just has no way to find out about what happened, she is in VA I think and is not on the road going to all the shows. You just have to be on this website to talk to fans about your love for MB and his music. Don't let that one episode get you down. Hugs,JoyNJ

Sharonrose, I did ask about the hat but didn't get an answer and you will have to forgive me I forgot to follow up on it. Michael does not have an official fan club any longer so there is no official address to send things and that's why I collect the cards and send them to Michael's office. The past few years I have been able to hand Michael the cards but this year I probably won't. Gail
