Hi everyone, well this is my first attempt at starting a discussion so hope I’m doing this right... :D . A couple of weeks ago, I asked Gail when she thought would be a proper time to start thinking of what we fans want to do for our Michael’s 60th birthday. She said she was out of ideas, but suggested I’d start a thread asking fans for suggestions. I figure we have exactly 4 months, starting today, to come up with something fun and get mobilised to achieve it. I’m no organizer, I just thought we could share ideas so let’s put our heads together and see what we can come up with! :D Take care and hugs to all, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada J
*The 2 most popular suggestions so far are:
- individual donations to michaelboltoncharities.com, mentionning they are made in honor of Michael’s birthday, of any amount you feel comfortable with.
-a collective wall-hanging made from personalized fabric squares sent by fans that will be stitched together. The 4 inch/10 cm squares (with small blank margin) only need have your signature and location but can be crafty as you are able. For
more info, ask here, or PM either me, or Amie Angeli who will be doing the stitching and presenting the finished product to our Michael.
**Note: The final deadline for recieving fabric squares is February 15th, so you don't have much time left. :D
**It would also mean a lot to Michael if fans donate to the Red Cross for victims of hurricane Sandy at:
then E-mail Gail at boltoninfo@aol.com with your name and location, so she can add them to the MBC donors list.
**If you feel strongly about sending Michael a card or personal gift, you may send it to:
Michael Bolton
c/o Michael Bolton Charities
P.O. Box 936
Branford, CT 06405
U.S.A.
*Note that the deadline for recieving cards and presents is February 20th 2013, whether you send them to either Gail or Michael Bolton Charities.

Hi Kathy, you should check your forum in-box more often sweetie... :D I've just added the deadline to my main post: it's February 1st. That way, Amie will have time to put on finishing touches, depending on the number of squares she gets. Take care Kathy and hope that it makes you decide to join in too! :D Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
I hadn't noticed that either Sylvie because the main post is something we don't get taken to when we come into a thread and in many instances you would have to scroll up the whole page to look at it again which, I will admit, once I have come in on a new thread and read description, I don't go back to it again !!

Thanks Sylvie.....we all have so much to say to one another that the first messages always get lost!!! lol I wish I could check more often but I am swamped getting ready for a 60+ guest party in a couple of weeks!! That is why I needed a deadline so now I won't worry about it until after my party :)))) Whew!! Not to mention just returning from Reno and barely catching up on the forum!!! Better late than never I suppose...lol

Hey Kathy, no problem at all. Heehee, so it's the usual chaos at the Rosario household? :D I will assume this means you're at least thinking of joining in the fun so that's good! I'm guessing you're the hostess for Thanksgiving? Well good luck to you my friend and have a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with family and friends, God bless your heart! Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada :D
P.S.: I know I'm a bit ahead of myself but if you need Amie's address, let me know and I'll E-mail it to you.
HELP?
the fabric is a square and every side is 5 cm. Is it correct?
thanks and sorry! :)
Silvy
Hi Silvy and what has been said of the size is that it should be 4 inches square with a border round of at least 1/4 inch for stitching together to another square. Now, please someone come in a correct me if I am wrong, but I believe 4 inches works out to be just a little over 10 cm's not 5 cm......am I right ??? Hope someone will confirm Silvy as I don't want to mislead you but I am pretty sure I am right....hey....don't they have conversion tables, or something, on the internet that you can check Silvy....they have almost everything else !!! lol.
Good luck with square !!! :)

Hi Silvy, I had mentioned the measurements in my initial PM, but it’s okay, I’ll remind you here. J The square should be 4 inches on each side or 10 cm, with an added little blank space all around so Amie can stitch them together properly so your beautiful work isn’t covered. Silvy, if you could make something creative with only 5 cms, you’re a better person than I am! :D Sweetie, please take your time, no need to panic: as I’ve said, I haven’t even started on mine. They only need to be ready for February 1st at the latest, so relax. :D If you have any other question, let me know. Take care Silvy and thanks for taking part. Big hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada :D
ok thanks girls
yes I have read your message (Sylvie), but I didn't understand the misure.
I understand now, 10 cm is perfect, I'll start to work on it on Friday morning, where I live there is an Atelier for immigrant women (like me), so I can go there and sew something special (I hope) and ask for ideas!
thankssssssssssss
Silvy :D
Glad to have been of help Silvy.....which I hope I was for all these measurements are sometimes difficult to take in or keep track of for I know I for one get lost and have to think seriously when someone talks about centimeters etc. and not feet and inches......as bad as when we went decimal and got rid of pound, shillings and pence......I still haven't got used to that !!!!! LOL.
I wish you luck with your square Silvy and hope you get the help you need !! :)

Hi! 4" square is just a tad over 10cm. 1" = 2.54-something cm. Don't forget to leave a bit plain at the edges of your 4-inches so I can stitch them all together without catching any of your design in the seams! Looking forward to getting your square. And at some point I'll contact Gail to arrange a "back-up delivery date" at his house just in case of problems with York PA concert on his BD. This way we'll all be sure of delivery regardless of weather or whatever. I live a few minutes from his place, so that's easy! Actually, this is getting more & more exciting as more people join in. This is going to be fun - and I'm sure we'll end up with a memento Our Main Man will treasure for a long time to come. Cheers, Amie
Hey Amie,
We just have to have a patch for our lil Ashley, that's all there is to it! I have All of the stuff you would need except for the patch itself..I looked at All of my Meg's stuff, we've got Hearts & Kisses, Letters to spell her name, do you have an extra patch (white)..if so I could send you this stuff with ours! But Michael would really love to have Ashley on this I'm sure! I just don't think Tom will be up to it! What do you think? Let me know! Or if anyone else wants to help I have the goods:)! LOL! Yes this is turning out to be very nice indeed:)! Thank You!
Mary (meg's mom)!
Love your idea Mary and although I don't want to butt in I will....when have you ever known me not too....and say that as I have my "programmes" I could easily make something for Ashley because I have all her pictures and could make a collage of her and Michael and add words too and could sew/glue little objects on ....ones I know would be appropriate and that Michael could relate well to Ashley with. I could quite easily get pictures of and send to Tom and Ashley to see if they agree with before it is included or even before I complete and send so if you agree I am more than willing to do and if you don't agree....hey....that's okay too !! :)
Just thinking on my feet here and don't know if this would work or not or if suggestion is in anyway suitable and workable for you Amie but could it be possible to make a "centre piece" in the hanging and therefore make that larger, say 8" x 8" which could give you the main structure to add the other squares around, hence reason why I have suggested Ashley's being double the size. Just thinking along those lines because obviously then Ashley would be centre and as she is and has become so much a part of Michael's shows for him believe only right that she take centre stage and also if the square was larger then it would, obviously, give me far more room to work with.....as I say, just a suggestion and too as Michael would be included in collage then he would, in effect, be centre stage also and as it is his birthday, why not !!! LOL
