You all know how Harrah's handled the ticket sales. The show was pretty much sold out when they went on pre-sale. But I guess I held out hope and looked almost every day to see if they released any unclaimed Casino tickets. I had gone to a show in November and had issue with an employee at the hotel we stayed in. They offered us a free night. So when the AC show was announced I made the reservation. My friend was just going to ride over with me while I went to the show and had taken the day off. So a day before the show, she said she was sick of the snow, lets go anyway and see if the box office has anything. If they do great. If not, what have I got to lose.
So I get to the venue near show time and waiting for the box office to say if they are selling tickets. That place is crazy, the manager kept yelling that they'd only sell to Diamond Card holders, but the other people were selling tickets. A very nice couple came over to me and gave me 2 tickets that someone they knew, who worked there, gave to them.
With lack of good seats being released, we kept what the couple gave us. They were really good seats, especially for free!! We were seated in the front of the back section and could see Michael beautifully. The show was a half hour late and the natives were getting restless! lol. Michael skipped Soul Provider and went right to the microphone and apologized to the audience. Said he had been sick for the last few weeks with the flu and was still not well. He was back stage trying to decide if he should cancel the show, but since it was a full house, he was going to try and do his best. But was hoping for a lot of social interaction.
Someone yelled Happy Birthday and he said he felt like he was 101. And kept joking about Lithuania. He was going to sing it in Lithuanian and then when Kelly sang her 3 songs, he said she was going to sing them in Lithuanian.
When he sat down to start singing the classic songs, his voice was sounding pretty scratchy. But after the first song, he was sounding pretty much like his own self. He introduced Kelly and they did the Duets. He told one of his duet jokes and then said it usually gets a laugh. He occassionally sounded like he was having trouble trying to remember what to say about a song. I know I get like this when I don't feel well. He also introduced Jason at his part, but otherwise, didn't introduce anyone. He did keep mentioning how amazing his band was, tho'.
He skipped the Opera and when he sang his last song, you could hardly hear him but for parts of the song. He skipped the encore, when they came back out to do his ending bow with the band, he looked pretty well done in. I wasn't sure if he was trying not to collapse or if everyone was trying to hold him up. We talked to a couple that sat in the 2nd row, we had been chatting with them out in the lobby, and they said up close, Michael looked really bad. From where we sat, he looked white as a ghost.
He drank quite a bit of water at this show also. That's good that he's keeping himself hydrated. I wish he had rescheduled the show, and just taken care of himself.
Not as detailed as Robins reviews. I have limited memory function!! and passed on what I could. Sorry I had bad news of how Michael is feeling.
BTW, does anyone know what the black bracelets are Michael wears? There are what looks like 2 of the rubber type bands and a black beaded band. I noticed them at the Wilmington show and again at AC.
Hi Sally, thanks for your review and it was fine sweetie. I'm glad you got lucky with tickets, but it's a shame Michael was feeling so bad. God bless him for still trying, but hope he takes better care of himself. Someone should remind him of the pneumonia he had in 2010! Sylvia should be able to tell you about the wrist bands when she comes in Sally, she usually keeps up with this stuff. Thanks again for your review, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie qC Canada
Hi Sally and thanks so much for a terrific review and hey no apologies on here.....every word written about Michael, whether it be 2 or 20, is what we all want to read so everything more than appreciated.
Thanks for letting us know how Michael was and it must have been sad to see him looking so bad especially when you couldn't go and give him a huge hug and probably when he was forgetting things that was because his temperature was up....paracetamol to bring that down: just a hint Michael, to carry with you, if you don't already !!! Fear I have is that if he doesn't start to get rid of this cold could lead to another chest infection and I believe that was what he had in 2010 Sylvie not pneumonia; I'm thinking back to what I was like, apart from having seen plenty of children with it, and it can take months to get back to normal and okay I know I have got other health problems and so generally had the kids which didn't help but it still takes anyone a long time and definitely not just a week.
Can I say that he was on Twitter so believe a wee message to us that maybe he is not feeling as bad as we might think or, at least, was feeling a little better last night.
On the wrist bands Sally where they are from and represent are some of the organisations he supports like Breakthrough etc. He wears 3 and I am sorry for I do not know exactly which organisations they are from but they are all to do with non violence especially to women and children and one I am sure is from one of the charities to do with the abolition of sex trafficking. Can I add, for anyone who doesn't know, he does support a lot more than just those concerned with the 3 wrist bands he wears for I know for a fact he supports No-Go and Women's Aid here in the UK and he doesn't wear their wrist bands....yet !!!! LOL

I figured the bracelets were from sort of charity, as that is what they looked like. I was just curious. As for how Michael was feeling, it was probably just by the end of the show, he was just "done in". This show Maryland is one show I am hoping he will postpone. I have a 2 hour drive and they are calling for a huge snow storm. If Michael wants to take the night off to feel better, I'm on his side!! lol
I don't really do either one. Growing up, my Dad would never let us out in it. They never cancelled school back in those days, but he'd drive us because he said the buses were nothing but a tin can. And even when we were older, he'd take us to work. But then he had a 4 wheel drive and snow plow. I didn't learn from that though.
I am praying for MB. I had pneumonia in 2005 & let me tell you, it took me several weeks to get back to normal & the same when I had pleurisy. I did see his one tweet there. All of you be safe in that weather.
Hey Sylvia, I looked it up and it was bronchitis in December 2010, my bad. Either way, he needs to take care of himself and maybe allow a bit more healing time, I wish him the best. Take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie QC Canada
Bronchitis can lead to pneumonia. Ask me how I know? I get it all the time, either bronchitis or pneumonia. I tend to think of it as the same thing.
Hi Everyone. Hopefully should the show go on tonight, all of you be sae. I sure do wish him well. Beings I'm asthmatic, I've extremely familiar to bronchitis, pneumonia & even pleurisy so, I pray he gets well. I'll be thinking of everyone tonight. Dang white stuff. Snow's bad enough but with the sleet & freezing rain & stuff just all of you be safe. MB does need to take care of himself.
I think that the way the ticket sales were handled really made things difficult for this concert. I can't tell you much of what I saw- only what I heard! Yes I got a ticket!!! I didn't give up!! It was about 6pm Fri when I was told I could buy an upper level ticket. Not where I wanted to be or what I got spoiled to but at that point I didn't care where I sat, or so I thought...I had booked a room weeks ago with the hopes of getting a ticket and I tried many times at the box office prior to the show for a closer seat but that is another story in itself. I did see people selling tickets and heard about people giving them away but I missed that opportunity. There was still another level above me but I was in the back row of the upper level. And I hardly see him or the band. I am glad Sally's view was much better up there and she was able to see as much as she did! I was trying to get the zoom to work right on my camera but the guard kept telling me no pictures. I have been to Harrah's a lot and they were never this strict about pictures. Michael usually tells everyone to take all the pictures you want but he didn't this time. The guard told me I could use my cellphone but no flash?!? What is the difference if you use a camera or phone if you don't use the flash??? But he said cell phone only. I said- look I am already sitting up here in Vermont, miles from that stage-you have a good camera on your cell phone? If so let me borrow it....He was a jerk- so I gave up on the picture taking. And the crowd there that night were far from nice and I could elaborate on that but it's better that I don't. So I couldn't SEE much of Michael but just HEARING him sing was pure joy. But you can tell he was struggling with his voice. I felt so bad for him. And he lacked his usual energy but to me he was awesome as always. He was dynamic with Kelly doing the duets and when they did the "Prayer" he really gave it his all. Kelly, Cameron and JD were fantastic and after WAMLAW you could tell his voice wasn't strong but I loved it. Like I said, I couldn't SEE much of this concert, ( Harrah's needs to put up screens for people who sit so high up above sea level) but what I HEARD was phenomenal and for the first time ever that I have no pictures! I just love him for coming out and giving it his all in spite of feeling as bad as he did. But as much as I wanted to hear him perform, I was glad it was cut short for his sake. Now three LOOONGGGGG months until Bethlehem, PA!!! Yikes!
